Does anyone else feel a bizarre fear against Carlton? As if their strengths magnify our weaknesses? They frighten me in an isolated North context more than Collingwood, and that shouldn't be the ****ing case
Same here. I think we’ve been beaten down so much over the last few years. They’ve gotten into our collective heads. Also, poor Toby & K. Dawson lining up against a rampant Curnow and McKay in Pink’s first game. It’s enough to scar you for life!

Teams we haven’t beaten in a while and I can’t see us getting close to:

GROUP 1) Adelaide, Carlton, Geelong, Hawthorn, Western Bulldogs.
Something about these 5 clubs that we just look a level below when we come up against them.
We have a good chance this week against Carlton, for the first time in about 4 years to knock them off.

GROUP 2) Brisbane, Collingwood, GWS are top sides who I feel we match up well on our day and are entirely gettable.

GROUP 3) Essendon, Freo, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Port, St Kilda and Sydney are all average teams IMO and entirely gettable.
We really should have beaten Essendon, Freo and Port this year.

GROUP 4) Richmond and West Coast we should be handling much better than our past few performances show.

What I love to this day is that we get some conditional mid range draft picks and a couple of rookie spots and it's like we were asking the IMF to bail us out.

Carlton were just on course for picks 1 and 2 in that article by virtue of being shit, all good.

Scott Pendlebury is playing for Collingwood because they got a priority pick, no mention of fairness. Ditto Buddy at Hawthorn.

Noah Anderson lighting it up for Gold Coast, no snide commentary around their gift unless it's Ross the Boss going rogue.

But stop the clocks, we might have to relinquish those 2 rookie spots the AFL so graciously allowed us.

Spare me.

If Logue is doing his job right, he should be patrolling and organising our defence. This, in turn, enables Pink to focus better instead of trying too hard to do everything - which he is not capable of. However, he’s shown himself to be perfectly sound within his limitations.

People constantly conflate those picks with the McKay compensation pick and act like we got pick 3 for no reason lol, does my head in.

If the system from that period still existed (win less than 25% of your games I think?), we'd have had a pick straight after our first pick (or something like that) 5 years running. Or maybe not 5 years running, as we'd likely have got a bit better more quickly
Can you imagine the bitching and moaning.....

No one cares that Collingwood, Hawthorn, St Kilda, Melbourne, Dogs all had multiple double dips over the last 2 decades to put them into contention at different times.

(Collingwood's 1st double dip a little earlier 1999)

I was sat directly in line with the Wells kick, in the opposite pocket kinda sorta cheered it the whole way … f@ck Carlton

I remember this game, I still give my brother shit about it to this day, went to it with him (north supporter) and my cousin (blues supporter) and half way through the last quarter my brother lost faith and left early to get an early train home. Soft.

Would really like to work Cooper in for a run to see where he's at but the natural swap for Konstanty can't be done after a relatively high possession game from Jacob.

Whitlock in for Dawson? (Can't recall injury status)
Geordie, Cooper and Zane were probably the best in the VFL I thought.
I'd think Wawson would be ahead of Whitters. He could play back/fwd/ruck.
