Unofficial Preview Changes and pre match discussion vs Carlton

When we beat Carlton on Saturday, we will only be a game and a half behind them. LOL

And if we don't have an 82+ point turnaround from the last time we played them, they'll gain what is likely an unassailable lead on the ladder from us.

Swings and roundabouts.

Might be time to look at playing Chom as a swing man between forward/back.
Our backline seemed to play better last week when we went to two kpds - was that the weather or our faster rebound.
Think last season we played only 2 kpds due to players unavailable and we did look more swift.

Considering the rain I wouldn't really take too many lessons out of last week's game one way or another tbh.

If Comben plays like a player who is still injured then l wont be happy with him being selected...Time will tell..
He’s better than Dawson even if he’d had both arms amputated.

I think we’ve played well on the bigger grounds so I don’t see the G as an advantage to Carlton, having a reduced attacking/free kick generating capacity for them and a strengthened defence for us will make this a much closer contest than last time. Given our improved game plan over the last 7 weeks I expect we will build on the last two performances and win by 3 plus goals or possibly more if our forwards can get any sort of coherent rhythm going.

Comben should be fine. I doubt we'd be risking an important part of the rebuild on a game that none of us will remember in four years time.
Take your point on the long view, but I hope it’s a game we remember in 20 years.

Switched the radio on briefly in the car earlier to hear Cornes and Healey agreeing that North should win this - before selection so they thought Curnow wasn’t playing, but still surprisingly adamant.

We've seen Dylan Stephens make a huge step forward in that area of the game, and he is probably the most improved player at our club. McKercher seems to have increased his courage/physicality as well.

Perhaps we really do have a hardness whisperer at the club. A role that is also handy in the pr0n industry - stern look.
We certainly know a thing or two about coming last.

Cornes would be setting up to whack us if we lose.

That should be the last we see of Dawson’s forever.

Archer to come in for Fisher next week.

Then it’s really best available.
Phillips isn’t looking like coming back any time soon and Goater will be lucky to play VFL this year, let alone AFL.

We’re putting out a strong stable side and our performances should continue to reflect that.

l'm not saying keep Dawson but l would rather have a player who isnt going into the game under a cloud when it comes to his injury...If Comben comes into the side carrying an injury and doesn't perform to his ability l wont be happy...

From the last game we had in Tucker, Corr and Duursma.
They have been replaced by Pink, RHJ and Hardemann.
Backline is definitely better and not going to concede 153 points. Other comments from the last game.
  1. Logue would have been lucky to crack 20 mins around the Tan running track.
  2. Darling had 6 touches for the match.
  3. X was still nursing that hammy.
  4. Fisher played like a spud and was subbed out. Let’s see if he can play one decent game against his old club while we still give him a game. Would rather Duurs back in.
