Thank god port don’t have a dangerous key forward because that backline doesn’t have a single key position lockdown defender. I thought the whole point was to get some synergy going - this combination will be badly exposed against pretty much any other team so even if it goes alright this week it’s not a sustainable mix. Would have loved to have seen Phillips in as well.

Mckercher dropped would have made a statement
Kids been really disappointing and needs a wake up call

Zurhaar - Drop this bloke very conditional player
I don’t disagree but Clarko is very much one for stability, he’s never going to make sweeping changes. Logue and Corr are good outs. I really hope Riley Hardeman gets a full game and makes the most of his opportunity.

Edit: We also have very low standards.

So what you are saying is that the team we have selected is suited to play Port…and your argument is we should have picked a side suited for other teams?

The best bit is, Port do have dangerous key forwards lol. Georgiades is a real talent. Lord a bit behind him but is good too

Philips stiff. But Logue has been putrid, and Corr has never been dropped in his time here. The backline has been awful so I can understand changing it up. A statement has been made, Powell must be sub. Backing the mids in, I suspect if they underperform then someone from that line will go next week.

I like this. It seems systematic and thoughtful but also will shake things up. And as one of the few on this board it seems who rates K Dawson - especially over Toby Pink, who is honest but that’s about it - I’m stoked to see him in.

It doesn’t particularly suit port either but it’s probably the one team it might be less catastrophic against and even if it does hold up it won’t against other sides so it’s not sustainable and backline isn’t getting the synergy the coaching team are always harping on about!

I rate Georgiades. He is a gun. Lord would be playing ressies if they had anyone else. I rated him massively, but he p00 currently. (As I said, after saying this he is a chance to kick 8). But if Lord gets on top of us, it’s probably cause they are dominating everywhere else, and we could have Stephen Silvarni playing on him, and it would make no difference.

Out of all weeks to have Comben and Dawson as our only key backs, this week is probably fine. They will destroy us everywhere else

Would prefer it against a team like Richmond and/or Essendon )(forgot Caddy existed). Could easily see the pair of them killing us with contested marks in the first quarter and a half, causing us, as is tradition, to completely give up. Finlayson can take a grab too.

Gonna be ugly

The midfield is the issue yet none of those unaccountable squibs get dropped.

Going into a game with Dawson & Comben as your key defenders is gifted the opposition a 5 goal head start imo.

Logue and Corr have been costing us 10 goals a week so I guess we're 5 goals in front with their replacements.

So the backline we were rolling with was working?

Logue was an obvious one. Corr's omission makes very little sense given Georgiades, Finlayson and Lord will all be playing. They showed vision of one shit effort from him but I didn't think he was that bad. Definitely should've been others in the firing line
Corr has been untouchable for FAR to long. He had a reasonable year last year but he should have been in the Twos many times. We paid him a packet to transfer so I reckon the selectors were too embarrassed to drop him.

And we could easily see the ball hitting the ground and Corr and Logue going full s**z and forgetting how to football. Oh wait, I’ve seen that nearly everytime they play…..

Clarko has seen our backline has been putrid and slow, so he changing it up. Going smaller and ‘hopefully’ more agile. If it works, we are onto something. If it doesn’t, we are in the same place we are now.

Finlayson has been playing back flank. And if he doesn’t go forward, I’d go as far as saying Larkey takes more pack marks than Jez.

We called for Logue and Corr to be dropped, Fisher was always going to be out with the injury
I am hoping the two above being dropped will give the whole team a shake up.
I would have liked to see Phillips in for McK, if we get a kicking again they will have to bring him in soon.

Couple of ways to look at that. He's been the one key pillar constant in that defence. Through COVID, through Nobles, through Rattens, through Clarksons.

If we look a million bucks without him, he was the problem all along. If not, back to the drawing board to scrounge around for another overly simplistic solution that doesn't require too much digging. Seeing as that's the only type of solution we're capable of right now
