I think your being a tad harsh on Jacob, should he be dropped, yes possibly, but he has not been useless, he has brought intensity to our forward line and done some useful things.

Maybe I am but I'm not sure he's doing any better than Kayne Turner did.

Bring Pink in and let Kal play in Archer's role. We know Kal can play on the smalls.

I'd even play him further up the ground or even up forward. Anyone who has watched him at Williamstown would know that he isn't a key defender. Never has been. I'll never be convinced that he doesn't have attributes, but he's not a KPP, it's not his forte. He's a very good athlete and can kick goals, but his 196cm frame has people, maybe even the coaches thinking he's a one on one. He isn't.

We have clearly shown more in the last couple of games than we did against Carlton.

My fear with this game is we are gonna be completely opened up like we were against Carlton and it'll knock back some of the tiny incremental progress we have seemingly made.

Agreed. But one positive from the Essendon game (and to some extent Port game) is that aside from the poor first quarters, Clarko has shown that he can control what the team does and how we play. In the second quarter on Thursday night we clearly tried to stop the bleeding, and it worked. Both teams scored just a goal each. In the third quarter Clarko clearly tried to open it up to try and get back into the game and again, it worked as were able to score 5 (should have been more) while conceding only 1. In the last quarter both teams ran out of gas and came down to a bit of luck in the end, but the point being the team and the way we play is controlled from the coach's box.

What this tells me is that if we try and play in a defensive manner to stay in the game for longer, we may be able to do that. Hopefully we avoid a blowout at least.

Undiscipline is not only assigned to one player...Look at Simpkin ,Curtis and sometimes Zurhaar. They are all very undisciplined and 1 is the captain ......

I’m just sick of lmacs crap man. I’ve defended him and praised him plenty of times here but I’m tired of it. Momentum sapping turnovers time and time again. Yeah he puts his body on the line and that’s great but there’s a whole heap more to footy than that and he consistently fails at those parts.

obviously he’s not alone in that.

Agree on this. Would love to see a look at the structure without them both. Not saying we would walk out and win every game, but also not convinced we would look worse. Given Zurhaar's refusal to play small / mid sized (ie. pressure, lead up, keep feet) I'd be keen to get almost any mid sized or larger player in his role and see what happened. Him bobbing up for a couple of goals every few weeks isn't the issue, it's what he does the rest of the time that isn't enough. I'd take a goal a week for the year if he did the other stuff more.

Subject to VFL and ignoring Archer's out I'd be happy to see a changing of the guard and say Hardeman has LMac's spot and make him earn it. Is he doing anything different and significantly more important than say Fisher? I'd say no as of today.

Watching the game against Port completely soured me on CZ. Powell-Pepper played the same role and was relentless in his selfless pressure and was probably responsible for 2-4 goals indirectly and also kicked a couple.

Who cares if Zuurhaar occasionally gets them over the top coming back or snags a miracle snap from the boundary line if the other 95 percent of the time the opposition waltzes the ball out of our F50?

But yeah, having buckets poured on the players when they hurt as much as we are, doesnt help an already depressing situation. I like LMac, though i do think that he is in the sunset of his career. I suspect he does too. Real genuine club man, despite his foibles.
