Five changes but it still feels like tinkering at the edges, which says a fair bit about our squad. The core mid group of LDU/Powell/Simpkin isn't coming close to meeting expectations at the moment, but I don't see that dropping any of them helps/who would replace them that we haven't already written off - the better option is to run a wider range of players through the stoppages, if our mids can't do anything else then that's when the selection heat rises. Teakle a bit stiff but we have too many talls to justify playing him forward and Goad played well enough in the VFL to earn a senior opportunity before Xerri returns.

Not convinced it'll make the difference we want it to, but 5+ changes is justified.

This is it yeah. We can't keep going in with the same midfield mix and expecting this problem to resolve with a patchwork forward / backline.

We can't pressure.
We can't keep the ball.
We can't generate i50's.
We can't prevent i50's.

There are too many mids in there that are walk up starts but don't perform at a level that commands that. We need to sacrifice a couple of sacred cows - whether to the VFL or out of the centre square I don't really care.

Our midfield win clearances to win games. It is completely unrealistic to expect that to happen every single game. Moreover, it is not acceptable for them to concede the game whenever this isn't going their way. I genuinely think we need to make a statement there instead of blaming limited players filling roles that they shouldn't even be expected to fill at this stage of their careers.

Logue and Daniel just don't belong. Their contributions are nett negative. Compare them to FOS and Hardiman who are so much better and are each only first year players.

Chom has to go back into defence (although he was carrying a pillow under his jumper so he probably should be going in for surgery to be ready for pre-season).

I noticed people saying that Konstanty is a pressure forward but I wonder if the team would be more capable with RHJ who seems to be more capable of producing score involvements.

Parker might be ok against St Kilda but he is below par against good teams.
