Unofficial Preview Changes and pre match discussions vs ..sigh... Geelong at the f**king bowling alley

I get one is in form and the other isn’t, but they play very different roles. One does corridor and the defensive arc, the other is wing.

The question you should be asking is who else in the VFL can do the Powell role.
It doesn't have to be a like for like swap. You can shuffle around roles within the team, itself.

Gee, Tommy Powell must be bringing his kneepads into his meetings with Clarko to keep getting selected

I know he’s playing out of position but we’re really going to need him to be serviceable at the minimum this weekend

If Tom can double his tackles from last week (3 to 6), reduce his turnovers by 5 (5 to 0) and lift his pressure acts by 50% (14 to 21) and stop his 2 left hands fumbling the pill……then he might be a chance for providing one of those Gelatissimo tasting spoons with a little Pistachio on top of his base Vanilla.

It would help me cope if the selection committee is being fully transparent on his expected role. And that Tom B is not in the best 23 for these reasons for the 2nd week in a row despite being more than serviceable in the opening 6 rounds.

Look. If it was me I would’ve dropped Corr ahead of Pink and dropped Powell for Blamires. :stern look

I would like to see Hardeman in the seniors sooner rather than later. :stern look
Pink was beaten badly last week and while Corr's last quarter was poor, his third quarter was fantastic and he was beating Cadman until moved off him when Cadman then get off the chain. Corr usually takes half a season to work into form but when he does um he gets injured. But those 2 games before he gets injured are quality. Patience people.

Yeah I’m no fan of corr but his previous 3 weeks - he hardly let his man touch the thing.

My initial thought when reading your post was that Tommy's never had 6 tackles. Turns out he's done it multiple times, and once had 15 in a game.

I get the criticism about players being "vanilla", but I think it's overblown. There have been some great players over the years who could be described as vanilla, but they just consistently do things well and make good decisions. Jimmy Bartel is a great example.

Stats were premised with “from last week”.

This year he has averaged 2.4 tackles a game. Don’t think they measure fumbles. His goal kicking has been poor 3.6 and so on.

Not sure Vanilla goes with a Brownlow and Norm Smith winning, triple premiership and dual AA HOF inductee.

I don’t feel like watching another pantsing. I just wish we could beat these ****ers for once.
This is not like the last five years where they had there way with us, win or lose they are going to get a real shock, in a perfect world we could be unbeaten and one of those games include the back to back premiers, we are going for the jugular and I'm not quite sure they will be expecting it! GO BOYS!!!!! :north:

If we're after stability why we drop Blamires after he was part of a side that won 3 of 4 games?
Just part of the one way justification process.

Apply it one way.

Not the other.

I ****ing hate how we have to always play them at their dump. Why can’t we ever get a home game against them?

If you pulled apart every element of Bartel's game and looked at each one in isolation, there was not one that you'd think is absolutely amazing. He was just good at everything and consistently executed at a high level with a pretty narrow band between his best and his worst. Not meant as a criticism of Jimmy at all, I'm a huge fan.

Tommy's goal-kicking has definitely gone off the boil. Was a real strength of his up until the end of 24. I hope he hits all the statistical benchmarks you have listed against the Cats. Might mean we're a chance.

So… you’re saying we’ll lose by 4-6 goals, show “signs”, we’ll all be here at 7:30pm Saturday night saying “if this happened” and “if that happened” and “if only” but “one day we will” and that “it was Geelong remember” and “we’re on the right track” if “we just fix this” and “just tidy up that”.

Hell yeah! 🙌🏼 Geelong will be ambushed indeed

Somebody has to take the hit so clubs with charity priority pick players like Scott Pendlebury don't have to.

Wardlaw out, Blamires in
Look it's probably a great week to rest wardlaw anyway. And it's illness not body so could be a blessing in disguise.

We also lacked transition and run last week, blamires actually makes us more flexible as a whole. So net negative - but not by as much as it seems on face value. Both in and someone else out would be preferred IMO, but that would throw the side out more as well
