Shaw: It’s been a long road for Maj. He’s had a tough time over the last couple of years. He’s done the work, and I’m really pleased to be able to have him back out there. The reaction of teammates showed how much he means to us.Shaw: We’ve put a lot of work in with him, and he’s played a couple of scratchies. We think he’s in a good position to put in a good performance.Shaw: We’ve made a couple of changes due to the position we’re in. Ben Brown and Jared Polec will be left out this weekend.

Shaw: Ben Brown has had a tough period, on and off the field. We really feel for him with what he’s going through, and we think it’s a good time for him to sit out. He’s been really good this week after our chat.

Shaw: We think a rest for him will be a circuit breaker and we know he will come back fighting.

Shaw: We’ve got three games in nine days, so there will be plenty of opportunities for Ben.

Shaw: For Jared, his body of work hasn’t been up to what we expect. We’ve had the discussion with him and he knows what he needs to work on.

Shaw: Polec is more about his role and playing to that. We have certain standards and behaviours that we judge the team by and everyone stands accountable. Jared’s a great player, and he’ll bounce back. He’ll be involved over the next few weeks.

Shaw: Maj has shown great courage in speaking about his mental health battle, and he’s such a resilient guy. We are all so proud of him. Hopefully he can take a few clunks for us.

Shaw: We know that the last 6 weeks haven’t been acceptable. But there are some positives that have come out of it. The young guys are getting some games in and are leading the way.

Positive is that we will get to have a look at the team without brown.... see if we go about things differently. Polec is a surprise but his distribution in the past couple of games has been a little awry... hope that means walker in but I'm more thinking it's Bonar or murph either fine too... kids and go and all

Polec decision is pretty baffling; you'd expect we rest a few players now and again with these shorter turnarounds, but the decision to start him on Cripps last week suggests the "form" comments aren't just for show, which is definitely odd considering he played well in the Blues game and there are plenty of others you'd have out of the 22 before him on those grounds.

I don't mind a tough call - and whilst Brown out only a week after Larkey's return is weird, that's certainly a fair one - but decisions like this are validated by results; if we drop the game tomorrow then that's another knock on a coaching group who, even accounting for adversities beyond their control, have not done a lot right this year.

Yes, if they are being managed because of the workload, that’s understandable.
The tweet doesn’t seem to indicate that though. Perhaps more will come to light soon enough
They've both been like the vast majority of the side all year mate; below average.

People can see it as tanking, resting, managing the list,.....whatever. None of that is inherently wrong either, btw.

But the fact of the matter is, as a side we've been shit and it usually stems from the top.

What better year to instill a new set of standards than the trainwreck that is the 2020 competition? A new standard that shows everybody is accountable regardless of seniority.

If that's the goal, then I'm ok with that.

Great call. This is sending a strong message to the rest of the group.

This is exactly the thing we’ve been waiting for. No more passengers

Polec surely would be rested but Brown had to be dropped

North by 29
Polec dropped not rested. Shaw gave him a whack in the press release

Looks like Maj is forward based off that. Reckon there might be another one or two.
Hopefully it's Walker fwd, Maj back.

Daw doesn't need the pressure of reverting to a role he was no good at after spending the best part of 2 years out of Senior football.

" Majak Daw will return for his first match since round 23, 2018, while recruit Aiden Bonar is also back after missing through soreness at the weekend. "
