Is it true your board kept taking up a player off the rookie list that didn't exist, then the herald sun reported on them?

If so link?
Did you know Julian Assange is a north supporter?
As mentioned above.

Same poster also 'created' the rumour that Julian Assange was a North supporter when his case blew up and we ran with it for a week or so.

Was reported in the media after a week or so regarding him being a North supporter.
Do we know that it's not true?

I'm in nostalgia mode (my apologies) hence my earlier Boomer post on drilling passes like tracer bullets.

Does anyone else miss Firrito?

I know he had brain fades, certainly no champion, but bloody hell I liked him. Genuine shinboner.

Flew the flag for his mates, never flinched a contest, straight lined the ball, and got the best out of his ability.

I want more of this in our current squad.

One of my all time favourite players - hard as nails, rarely got beaten one on one - great rebound runner, and full of mongrel. :thumbsu:

Thanks for comment.

Most opponents used to bag him as limited (he was), pretend tough guy etc, but no he was a damn great clubman. He also routinely beat rated opponents.

I suspect you feel the same about Simpson albeit different (but similar) attributes from a supporter perspective. (If I'm wrong just say)

SLF created the story to see how far it would go. Worked a treat! [emoji106]

NORTH MELBOURNE

Saturday night was a disaster on all fronts for the Roos, who kicked just two goals against the Tigers and lost Cam Zurhaar (a late withdrawal with a calf injury), Jack Ziebell (who went down with another hamstring injury before touching the ball) and Kyron Hayden (who was stretchered off after a crazy brave marking attempt when he ran back into the path of a steam train named Tom Lynch. If that wasn’t bad enough, Jy Simpkin played out the game after receiving treatment for an ankle problem. Zurhaar should be available to face Carlton while Jed Anderson is another likely inclusion. But the mystery over Ben Cunnington’s return continues.

As long as not a significant risk of injury and he's healed, even if his fitness base not quite ready i'd still definitely play LDU this week for a set % of time.

I want to see the team evolve and clearly LDU is a big part of that especially with no VFL.

Correct. He's not gaining any match fitness sitting on the sidelines and playing 11 a side scratch matches. If he's medically fit, then just play him. Then posters on here need to keep their expectations realistic for the next month as he gains real match fitness and not smash him and call hima bust.....PAUSE......hahahahahahahaha

Not sure if there is a mystery. Rawlings has said that he'll play when he can get through a full week of training.

There is a lot of media bias against certain types of players and all they do is repeat their own agendas and contrived BS. Firrito was always under rated as you say a great Clubman. Simmo is the same - a great Clubman and under rated player - because he has played in a period at Carlton which saw the Club hit rock bottom and stay there - at least Firrito enjoyed some finals successes. re Simmo: Not many blokes play over 300 games for a Club and achievement in itself.

The media and most supporters respect Simpson...he often gets praised by commentators.

Early prognosis

It's pure carnage at Arden St, with no club suffering more on the injury front. Coach Rhyce Shaw said Ziebell reinjuring the hamstring that kept him out for the previous fortnight was "bad luck" rather than mismanagement. Zurhaar was a late withdrawal from Saturday night's game but should be right to return, while Anderson will be close as well. Hayden's status will be guided by how he fares in the concussion protocols after coming off second-best in a collision with Tiger Tom Lynch. Simpkin played out the match after in-game treatment. The likes of Nick Larkey, Luke Davies-Uniacke and Kayne Turner are increasing their output post-injury in scratch games. - Marc McGowan

I count 10 players from our best 22. Can't win with that many injuries.

Typical sports fan...support your team in the 90s when everything is going well, then when there are tough times it's all 'sorry guys, I'm in an Ecuadorian embassy...can't make it today....'

Is Marc McGowan a North supporter too or just the designated writer for our club for his employer?

He doesn’t support North but when he applies himself he pinpoints the clubs issues rather well.
He actually researches players and gets feedback from club officials and raises concerns from North supporters eyes also. Good balance.

He dropped away at the beginning of the year with some Caro like trash but hes redeemed himself somewhat with that piece he put out today.
