Though last night was gouge-my-own-eyes-out bad we are currently 2 and 3 and anyone suggesting the season is shot needs a good dose of HTFU. The dogs were abysmal in the first two rounds - last on the ladder I think. Now look at them. Hopefully we play 22 fit blokes next weekend, pull a win against * from somewhere and get to 3 and 3.

After watching GWS vs Hawks you know what they say ... things are never as bad, or good, as you think in footy.

Hawks played out of their skins last week ... Sicily couldn't get near it tonight... Wingard didn't have the golden touch.

Maybe the view from a distance is a good thging.

All of us have felt that the last 3 weeks are like we've been playing the "Crying Game" and found out something we just did not expect - that our team aren't as good as we thought they should be in this case.

Probably, it's more the case that there's so much going on that heads are all over the place and what happens one week might be entirely different to what happens next week.

Sure, our world feels like it's been busted apart, but it all needs a bit of perspective I guess. Having said that, a win against * would be just the tonic, but form wouldn't suggest we are in with much of a shot. However, Scamper has a chance to own their headspace now, and hopefully he can get the boys playing the way we did when he took over.

You guys are hurt by none of Hall, Tyson or Ahern really delivering. I thought they were all reasonable pick ups who if they worked out couldn’t been a path to challenging while Higgins, Goldstein and Tarrant are still playing good footy. LDU getting injured and taking longer to reach his potential also hurts.

Not really, as all of them cost 2/5th's of bugger all in currency. It's not like we outlayed anything significant, even Preuss isn't missed in reality.

We've been trying to replace Tarrant and Thompson for the best part of 5 years, we've invested a heap of draft capital into that plan which has been a complete failure.

Either through lack of development or serious injuries to these kids, the 6-7 defenders we've taken over the last 5 drafts, barely one of them is in the senior side at the moment. 1 of them will be lining up for you next week!

I don't think anyone has any concerns with LDU, most North fans know we have a special player, he just needs continuity with his body. We are prepared to be patient.

If anything it may have helped with the development of Simpkin as a full time clearance mid.

Yeah I wasn't saying as in they were poor decisions and have set the club back. I just meant that when you picked them up they had high upside and none of them as yet have gone close to reaching it.

I am also an LDU fan just commenting that in a best case scenario he would be a strong contributor already. Maybe you're right on Simpkin but he strikes me as smart enough to be damaging in any full time midfield role

I think the next few games results will probably initiate a shift from the club as well for this seasons expectations.

LDU returns to scratch matches this week (If we are allowed them), as does Larkey and a few others, so hopefully we get a bit more cattle out there over the next month.
