If Bonner plays, he must be put on a wing with Bergman a far better defender, remaining down back.

One of life’s great mysteries will always be his performance in our PF loss to the Bulldogs. He literally was the only player from our side to show up that night

The support for Bonner staying in is surprising. He looked lost in three quarters on Friday and was a liability defensively and around contests.

I normally don’t mind Bonner but I don’t think he really made the most of his opportunity on Friday night. It definitely wasn’t his best game, ditto Burgoyne.

Duursma out saves at least one of them for next weekend though.

I’d bring Jones in and push Bergman back up to a wing.

It must be tempting to give Sinn a run as sub soon. His leg speed coming on in the 4th quarter could be a weapon.

What other options are there? Teakle is also a very bad option in ruck but we seemingly have nothing better. The depth in the league is appalling and a 19th team will just make it worse again.

A la Toby Thurstans.
Crap during the season, but one of the few to show up in the 2007 GF.

Predicted changes

Jonas in
Bergman up to Duursma's wing

Marshall in for Lord - 9 day break helps Dixon

OUT: Teakle, Lord, Duursma, Burgoyne
IN: Marshall, Bonner, Evans, Jones

So who does the ruckwork? Finlayson is too valuable up forward as he has booted 10.3 in his last four games and Dixon looked to be playing on one leg last week. I am with those who think it's time to give Sam Hayes another run, he cannot be much worse then Brynn Teakle.

I really dont see any possible way they bring Hayes in. If they didnt play him when he was playing well at SANFL level they as hell arent playing him when he is playing shite. His papers have been stamped. No point at even mentioning him as an in.

I had to look the 2007 reference up. I didn't realise Thurstans had gone on that long (2009 in fact). 3 goals in the 2004 GF too (which I did remember). Can't comment on Catdog's 2007 GF effort, the stats say nothing much and I've had the part of my brain that contained actual memories of the game surgically removed.

Yep. Someone the other day referred to Hayes as a sunk cost, which again I had to look up but nicely cuts past the "He just needs another chance" stuff.

To reintroduce Sinn back as a sub would be great. I could see him killing guys with his speed in the 4th. It would get his confidence up and then trial in a few positions which I think Josh Carr such as the wing or off the half back flank.

If that happens, that suggests they’ve actually hamstrung themselves by appointing Jonas as captain this year.
He hasn’t put together a quality game like Bergman’s last week for years.

Does Tom Scully get a look-in? Same sort of SANFL performance that saw Lord called up. If best on ground in the reserves doesn't get you a game it's like being back in the Choco days. Mind you Goldsack did temper his praise with comments on inconsistent effort from Scully in previous games.

Id only do this if we feel Sinn would benefit from a quieter week in his recovery.

Otherwise let him keep developing his form and fitness with full games til he has a break out 4 quarter effort.

Yeah it's interesting re Sinn. We've always played our top picks early that I remember. And did with him. But a number of the Victorian clubs have given significant reserves time to top picks. Only a couple of years ago Luke Beveridge couldn't go a week without someone asking him when Jamarra Ugle-Hagan was going to get a game.

Looks like I might be playing. Just received this from the club. Might pop down to Alberton and see where my locker is.
