Ben McGlynn suspended for a week.

Re: Changes and whatever for Sydney

Bu-bu-bu those were just down games for those guys.

So Monfries hardens up and becomes more of an instrumental team player, sacrificing his own game, cutting out the diving, and people still aren't satisfied.

Mmkay. Must be Pseudo-Le Cras or GTFO.
The irony is, ever since he stopped being an inconsistent, frontrunning, hollywood full-forward wannabe, people have wanted to drop him.
Never let it be said that Essendon supporters, as a rule, have much of a clue.

I very much doubt they'll bring anyone up who hasn't had at least 2 solid weeks for Bendigo.
That rules out Myers, rules out Gumby, Del, and most of the others.
Reimers is about the only one.

Would you guys agree that the decision to play Lonergan as sub was merely to give NLM and Colyer full games?

If so, it seems the coaching staff treted this game with the same contempt the players (bar Jobe) did.
Along with the resting of Hooker. Doesn't look good does it?

Yep, all (bar Jobe) walked into the match thinking it was already won, Royal Box and all. There is no other explanation as to why Lonergan should ever be the sub, especially in the conditions of last Saturday.

The coaches are allowed to do it though (obviously contempt is too strong a word). If you are going to rest players throughout the year because it is part of a strategy of managing player conditioning or a player is just buggered and needs the rest it is going to have to be against weaker opposition. Let's not pretend that the bottom 4 or 5 sides are not a mile off the pace we (and the other top 4 or 5) have set.

It is an indictment on the players that they do not turn up in matches that should be nothing but comfortable victories and/or % boosters.

It is not like the coahes didn't bother preparing for the win. At no point did the coaches tell the players that they could take it easy. We should have been able to rest 4 or 5 players and still expected that we'd come out and get the job done (because the next 4 or 5 to come in ahve all done solid jobs at one point or another this year).

The coaches rested players, including Lonergan but we still would have won if our skills were better - both in goal-kicking and handling the greasy ball. Wouldn't it be better to play Dyson and omit NLM if Heppell plays?

Lonergan was out there for all of the last quarter, and he got like 4 touches, 3 of which were really really lame kicks, so i dunno know, seems like Lonergan probably would have made no real difference. I mean, he ain't Watson.

In fairness he as abaot as far from being an impact player as you can get.

His game is to grind out 15 or so contested possessions a game.

take mcveigh out back?

I'd rather we not waste our rookie promotion on a hbfer though.

o_OHarsh.

Not sure any of the rookies have impressed enough to earn promotion by homicide.
