I think it will be critical to keep our structure so the closest like for like replacement for Hipwood we have is Oscar.

Give Archie a run against the tigers, they still have nankervis out it might give him belief that he can actually play at the level

Yep. More ruck cover is needed anyway and it allows us to build on that and still have cover for Hipwood.

With our backline going well, and depth, Adams holding well and I still believe Payne will make it and without Harris there last year did well, what is the chance Harris could move forward to cover Hippy? Something new, a little unexpected, opposition teams might take a while to work him and our set up out. Maybe not against Geelong if Cameron is playing, maybe not against the Tigers with their 2 key forwards, but he might be an option in some games left.

I'm sorry but I can't agree on that. Payne did a decent job in the back part of last year, predominantly against weaker teams when our midfield was well well on top. I've seen nothing this year to suggest he can be relied on and we have the luxury of moving an AA key defender up forward where they will be above average at best. Payne hasn't had an above solid game this year, though he played well v Gold Coast last year and pretty well in a poor side in the prelim.

Harris isn't athletic enough to lead and mark up forward and our turnover game would massively suffer.

I will be howled down but I reckon the idea has merit, Lester or hopefully toward the end of the year Gardiner could help stabilise the back end if we wanted to give it a go. My feeling is we probably struggle to win the flag with the current forward set up sans Hippy yet we seem certain to be playing finals, perhaps it's worth a gamble?

I hearing Nankervis was back this week. I still think Archie in.. Big O more forward and Joe stays in 50.
Oscar a better forward then Fullarton is.

Would not mind at least trying Adams or Andrews forward. Even during a game as a something different
Or Lester as well..
not sure Fullarton or Ballenden just as they are tall should be the ones.

Fullarton has been underwhelming in his limited games in the ruck (yeah yeah he’s young). 12 hit outs to his name in his 4 games this year, half against Rhys Stanley. Monstered by Grundy and Stef. One game where Oscar played he had one. Have little faith he can hold his own while Oscar plays/rests forward. Would rather see Archie who can at least get a hand on the ball with his leap, whether or not it goes to one of our own players is another thing..

Joe averages 2.9 a game. Fullarton averages 3. It's swapping like for like in the ruck contest. Fullartons ground ball work is better than Joe's, but we'll miss Joe's marking up the field.

Fagan's presser suggests Fullarton gets the gig now that Ballenden has an injury
That keeps our structure the same as it has been for most of the year. So, that's what probably happens
Fullarton played okay v Pies in round 3 but his other 3 games were very average

However i hope the selection committee consider going back to only two key forwards
If that happens Prior in for Hipwood.
That leaves Ah Chee forward he can defend and does play tall for his size
Berry could be considered also but likely medical sub
Or they find a way to get Lester back in side if they think his hammy is okay for AFL level footy

I don't think Archie should play unless he plays forward which is unlikely
I would rather see how Kalin Lane goes forward/ruck before giving Archie another try
That would be a big ask for Kalin but that is how much i don't want Archie to play
For me Archie should only be considered if Big O is out for some reason

There was lots of issues with Hipwood going down early apart from the fact we were not playing well at the time or thereafter
With sub being Matho he went forward to start but he is no forward.
That forced them to move him in the midfield.
That sent Deven to the wing for periods which basically took him out of the game

The Tigers will no doubt try to play their go to run and gun chaos footy, if they suddenly find their form again we could be in trouble... although we have beaten them while at their best the last 2 times we have met.

Our mids need to lift for this game, Clugga has been terribly out of form for a while now, was leading the afl coaches association votes not that long ago and is now tumbling down the rankings and probably also out of AA calculations, his usual elite disposal seems to have gone missing.

Not a fan of the reputation we have at the moment, plenty of divers/floppers across the field with Daniher, Mathieson and to an extent Neale & Cameron.

Really hope Fagan addresses this as we'll once again be on primetime Friday night.

I hope we focus on winning the game. Nice guys finish last, just ask Nunez.

My concern is that at the start of the year without McStay we struggled to connect on the wing with a marking presence. Interesting to see how we go.
Yep, unless we change our game style substantially we need another tall to take Hippys spot.

Expecting Richmond to set themselves for this and also expecting Charlie and Joe to really respond big time. Midfield needs to be more accountable though, we really let them stream out of the middle on the weekend.

Oscar is nothing like Hipwood in terms of mobility and getting up and down the line. Fullerton would have the speed and endurance that Hipwood has, but not the marking ability.

Daniher is the only like for like replacement for Hipwood we have, so we need to look at some structural changes if we consider another tall forward as a replacement.

This is a huge game season defining in fact , make no mistake our season hinges on the result. The tigers are on their back they have been rubbished and written off , it’s jacks 300th this is the last throw of the dice so they will come hard bloody hard
It’s at the G where we have a poor record , so it sounds bad we come off a rubbish performance we have lost our young champ

so last week has to hurt it has to tear at each and every lion especially those who stood and watched the Saints tear us up
We are better than that we are not scared anymore someone will champion hippy let’s show the completion we are the real deal but we cannot let last week let us down

we need to bring the heat everyone !!

go lions
