Outs- Daniel Rich, Mitch Robinson.

Ins- Keidean Coleman, Jaxon Prior.

Time to blow this so called MCG hoodoo out of the water.

In Chris Fagan's post game presser last night he said that in the last quarter we played our brand of footy.. the previous 3 quarters felt like quick footy and that is not our style, we slowed it down, stayed calm and took some marks around the ground. The Tigers will be attempting to play quick/run and gun/overlap/play on footy, CAN WE STOP THEM?

Some pace as the medical sub this week please, we will need it against the Tigers eg. James Madden, Kai Lohmann, Darcy Wilmot.

Steady as she goes now, we should be playing the team we think will play in a grand final. Rich swaps with Coleman - thats just an injury thing. Prior and Robbo is line ball but if it's the finals I'm with Robbo by a whisker for his manic pressure and physical hurt factor. Medical sub can not be a tall, sorry fort your out and maybe Cockatoo is the most flexible.

I think the looming decision is If, Neal, Lyons, Matho is one too many and can we swap Lyons for a hybrid like Dev Robertson. Any change has to be about our best finals team. I'm leaning on Lyons out for 2 weeks with Dev given the chance of two games.

Great to see Mac daily come back to life, Raynor to fire on the big stage next week. i think we are in a great position coming into the pointy end of the season.

Prior for Robbo
Kiddy for Rich
Fort for one of the 3 talls
Madden for Answerth
Cockatoo as sub

I'd like Robertson or Terry for Lyons too but may not happen.

Coleman for Rich is the easy change to make. And I half wouldn't be surprised if its the only change we make. Our selection is way too stubborn and loyal to underperformed players.

Other changes that should be considered:
  • Prior for Robbo. Robbo is sadly looking done and Prior has shown great signs and also has a physical edge
  • Payne for Adams. Adams has looked really poor the last few weeks while Payne i think offers more for the future. He needs game time
  • Dev for Lyons. Lyons is still having the same issues and lack of running is glaring. Starting to play some selfish and finger pointing football
  • Fort in for Hipwood or McStay. Not sure which but we are better with the second ruck and neither of the two forwards are performing. Need to try something else and let the dropped show form in the twos
Others whose form is starting to be questionable:
  • Rayner. Not sure what to do with him. Lyons/Matho have taken his mid time and now he is lost in the forward line. We don't need a third medium/tall style player when we have 3 actual talls forward
  • Answerth. Has physical commitment but skills are poor and makes a lot of slow decisions. Not sure who can replace him

Rayner would find a lot more ball and be a lot more effective if he stayed grounded and stopped flying for pack marks against blokes 8 inches taller than himself.

Answerth is a shut down small defender. His direct opponent last night is one of their better players in Ben Ainswerth who had 11 touches and kicked 1 goal. Barely noticed him last night. Noah Answerth did his job.

Those that think Maffo is here to stay are kidding themselves. Listen closely to **** presser. He was clear he doesn’t like the current mix. He acknowledged Maffo played ‘okay’, and in the same sentence said we need to keep working on the mix. He’s selected reluctantly at best.

The current mix hasn't worked. Tell us something no one knows Fages. I don't see Matho out helps anything unless we suddenly pull a strong ,effective consistent midfielder out of the hat.

Lyons has got off scot free all year. It'd be nice if Zorks could get going towards the end of the year. The old Zorks would really make a big difference.

Out : Rich out under concussion protocol and ruckman as sub needs to end right now
In : Kiddy for Rich, Prior

Fort really has to be the sub when we play sides with 2 genuine rucks. If McInerney goes down we are totally stuffed, would only have McStay and no one else to ruck and would get obliterated. Next week we will most likely be up against Nankervis and Soldo so Fort will need to be sub again I suspect.
That is obviously the thinking behind Fort being the sub and there is no obvious alternative imo.

Agreed, I’ve actually really come around to have Fort as sub. As insurance for Big O but also fresh legs in the middle make a huge difference and will give us a genuine advantage late in games. How often do you see a flanker/mid come on as sub and make a genuine difference, more often than not they just fit in with however the game is going. Thought Fort had a big impact either nullifying a tired Witts or turning a disadvantage into an advantage over Chol as second ruck.

Agree, watching GC games Ainsworth always pops up throughout the game and while his set shots aren't great...is a really dangerous player for them. Was barely noticeable last night.
