I'd be very wary of messing with team cohesion/form any more than was absolutely necessary at this stage of the season.

I'm not suggesting making drastic changes, just Zorko and potentially McCarthy if he's sore. Further to that, I wouldn't think giving someone like Berry, Smith or Lyons a crack would be a bad choice, especially given the opposition. Further to that, if McCarthy is sore and needs a spell then Cox or Wooller would both be good options and would reward form.

I'd be picking best available in order to get our percentage up - there is a high likelyhood a few percent may determine spots at the top of the ladder.

No charity games for NEAFL players ... I'm sure we're playing a great structure in that league, but we're creaming everyone, so basically the whole team looks good.

Injuries or suspensions only at AFL level from here on.

If Zorko's out I'd bring in Corey Lyons as best performing reserves mid and put him at the bottom of our rotations.

Other than that I wouldn't mess with something that's working. GWS have had to do this because of injuries and you've got guys like Hately literally bumping into teammates who have the ball and decking Hopper.

not overly keen on debuts at this time of the year.

Out - Zorko
In - Keays

Not keen on debuts now either.

Keays is a reasonable in but I think I prefer the Squizster, just because he gives us a bit more run and carry

EDIT

I actually don't mind the idea of Matho stepping up instead.

He's a fairly physically mature player now and if it's one area the Suns have struggled with, it's withstanding the rigors of four quarters of footy.
Another tough nut bossing them at the clearances wouldn't go astray.

Suns are pretty light on for key backs so hopefully McStay and Hippy can have big games. They have a few tall forward options who might stretch us but hopefully they won't be getting too many inside 50s

Our boys need to be switched on and not be complacent for this game against the SUNS......having said that though, if the SUNS do come out and beat us, they should all be sacked for not trying in other games.

Matho or Taylor for mine. AFL level experience is priority at this point.
I was all for giving Corey Lyons a game but having read through this thread in the past 24hrs, I’m in agreement that the in should come from one of Bastinac, Taylor, Mathieson or Keays, someone that could seamlessly step in during the final two games or our finals campaign if heaven forbid, one of our mids went down.

Agree with this. In any other year Corey would have played multiple games by now, so I feel sorry for him. But in case of injury over the coming games I would prefer that we get the known quantities into a bit of touch in the seniors when the opportunity arises. In saying that, wouldn't be unhappy at all to see Corey get a run. He deserves it.

Guys like Taylor, Keays and Matho would be my go to.

The answer may be not at all, but I have wondered how out of touch some players might get playing extended periods in the NEAFL where it is just a stomp with very little pressure or resistance.

Imo there has to come a time where you give talented players who are absolutely killing it in the reserves a go if an opportunity opens up. I get why Keays would be an easy pick as he's a known quantity, but given the opposition it's the one and only opportunity we'll have for the year to give someone like Lyons, Smith, Wooller or Berry a go.

Taylor or Matho i reckon. Berry can play more midfield minutes, but really we will miss the pressure that Zorko brings. I think we can push Cameron/Linc/Bundy up the ground to help with the pressure, and bring in either Taylor to help with those mid/forward/wing type rotations or go with Matho as the most experienced player who can soak up some midfield time in the midfield. Also like Matho's ability up forward to sniff out a goal.

I wonder if it is more difficult for coaches to ID how a player will transition into senior footy when we have the situation that we have at present with the NEAFL team smashing teams week in week out. I'm just not sure that strategically we should be debuting players with 3 rounds to go when we are playing for a double chance. We should be playing players who, if we run into some injuries, can slot in for finals. I just think on balance, that a fresh face is less likely to perform at the level we need as compared to someone with 40-100 games.

That's certainly fair enough and we want to know that whoever we choose could play their role in September. With that said though, if Ben Keays is the player Fagan and co deem the right replacement for Zorko, it isn't going to be based off a like for like. IMO, that is where someone like Berry or Cox (if going off the last few weeks if form in Cox case) who's applying great pressure in the NEAFL and can also burst from packs could be worth trying. If it were against the Cats, it wouldn't be something I'd necessarily look at doing, but see the Suns game as the right game and environment for us to give a player like the above a shot.

Regardless, it'll be great seeing how we cope without Zorko and it'll be invaluable experience for Harris to captain the squad.

dont know if its been mentioned yet but well done to Answerth for the rising star nod this week. What a great player he has been for us and with his ability to kick goals and Adams coming on able to be a swingman we are seriously threatening.

If last week was about being clinical, this week should be about enjoying where they have got to and pile on goals mercilessly.

We also need the weather Gods on our side. Hopefully it will be a perfect day with perfect conditions for free flowing scoring!
