Could it be safe to assume that he might never play for our AFL side ever again?

The amount of injuries the poor bloke has had in his career, just gotta feel sorry for him
He is still only 27 years old so I think he still has a chance to have 2-3 years of consistent footy, I have confidence in our rehab/medical team..... I could be wrong though, I have been wrong on the odd occasion.

It sucks that Freo are going to come out and play their grand final after being absolutely embarrassed all season and getting 120 points dropped on them by one of the lowest scoring teams this season...HOWEVA...we should have the cattle to win this game. So long as we get enough supply in the forward 50 we will kick a score and their forward line is hardly full of world beaters.

Our defenders will need to be careful with Amiss. Is a really skinny and weak tall who has been given the softest of frees right in front of goal over the past few weeks. Any contact our defenders make with him will be exaggerated (relative to a 24yr old KPF) and he will fall over.

I like it though when Andrews can play on a resting ruck although Jackson is very mobile I'm not sure he knows how to take advantage of that

Whatever, we'll win by 50 instead of 90...

Alex Pearce is also either woefully out of form or cooked and Luke Ryan doesn't look fit so our talls should exploit the Freo backline and our smalls can feast on the crumbs.

i think we subbed joyce off in response to himmelberg going behind the ball when taylor went down

no need for a third tall when gws were playing a smaller forward line after that point
Yes, that is what Fagan mentioned in the pressor.
I watched the pressor after i made the post. Just would have worded the post differently.
Also, the way Fagan talked about Joyce he will most likely play next week.

I just don't see Joyce getting any better no matter what Fagan indicated.
Mentioned Saints only played him 9x1 game at a time so hard to get confidence going forward.
Hope i am proved wrong, but in my opinion i have not seen any improvement in Joyce during his 5 games.
I don't select the side so my opinion won't change the selection process.
I would rather see Fullarton/someone else, get a 5-game run the same as Joyce has had as that 3rd KPD to see if he is a better option.
Hopefully Gardiner is available by then.
Playing Fullarton or someone else will give us a couple of options if heaven forbid Payne and Andrews get suspended or injured.
Waiting for that to happen and throwing someone in the deep end is asking for trouble.

We have tall forward options but badly lack KPD options.

Amiss is gonna be a heck of a player just quietly.

First thought is we will need Fort in to help with the Darkson combo though considering how awful the Freo midfield is performing maybe we could just back ourselves to win the ball in the middle even if Oscar gets beaten in the hitouts all day.

I wouldn't be surprised if Wilmot needs a rest at some point. Only changes I'd make are for those needing a rest, otherwise unchanged.

The hate towards Gunston is odd. The guy had four shots, 16 pressure acts and 10 score involvements. Yes, he's no longer in his prime but as our sixth forward, he is an asset and - hate to say it - better than Fort.
There is no hate, just other opinions that he was a liability when the opposition teams have the ball.

Yeah not speaking to his future progression, but currently he is very easily overpowered and as a result gets some very soft frees. Just something to watch out for.

I want him to be a really good player for us . On what I've seen I think he has some significant limitations for today's game but hopefully the good things he does make up for that. It's relatively early days and obviously he's going to be played so let's hope I'm wrong re the limitations.

Just being honest. Maybe he'll prove his worth in the crunch matches. He has done it before.

A lot of saints players are looking a fair bit better this year than under previous coaches

That's what we do every week. Oscar never wins the hitouts against recognised rucks

If we bring in Fort to combat their two ruckmen Hipwood goes out. A real kick up the b… for Hippy.
I reckon it could make him.
Thought Hipwood was great yesterday. Worked exceptionally hard. Go back and look at his 4th and 5th efforts in a contest on the wing in the final minutes before half time. Kept the ball from spilling out to the Giants and we got the ball forward for an inside 50 stoppage.

He was absolutely buggered after and I could hardly blame him.

I think we've got our best 22 sorted for the season. 23 with Fort to interchange with Gunston depending on the opposition's ruck strength. Up against Jackson and Darcy this week I can see a need for a recall for Fort. I think Fort also offers a better tall target coming out of defense and a stronger body to intercept the opposition when they dump kick out of theirs. I hope it's a consideration. Joe as second ruck v those two sees him out of his depth there a bit. I don't see any problem playing horses for courses with Jack n Darcy. No shame for Gunston being omitted to strengthen the ruck when needed. With Fullerton showing some improvement recently it could also be of benefit to Tom to have Jack giving some onfield support and instruction. Maybe that's what he's needed thru his development.

That's the only change I'd make with the 22. I'd make a change with the sub. While Lyons has been adequate, his limited ability to only be able to cover inside mid and his lack of pace could hurt should an injury occur in the first 10mins. He's been fine coming on in the last qtr with fresh legs v a tired midfield. Probably makes him look better than he actually is. Not saying he wouldn't have a role if Dunkley or Neale go down later in the season but he will need more miles under the belt to do so. A full game in the Vfl more often than not for him at this stage.

So for me,
Fort in for Gunston, it just takes away any chance their rucks can gain any dominance at any stage. Be ruthless.
Sub- take your pick, reward for results in the seconds.

As far as the game v Freo goes, at home, buoyed by some good wins away, I can't see us losing. By how much, who knows. Freo spurred on by criticism and disappointment could come out a much better unit and keep us to a Gws type win. Jackson n Darcy could get the better of a Big O/Joe combo, giving Brayshaw, Serong, Ryan, Brodie, etc a bit of an edge at times. Or they could play to current form n cop a hiding. So Lions by anywhere from 24 to fill ya boots.

Yes I agree with most of this. I am perhaps a little more optimistic about Joyce. I like his mobility for a tall defender. Obviously still learning the game.

Fullerton has impressed me in the VFL playing forward ruck, but I am in full agreement that we need to trial him at full back to provide an alternative to our current group of AFL tall defenders in case of injuries. I do not like Gunston as a defender, obviously lost some pace, which I guess he can cover through game sense in the forward line because he is always likely to kick a few goals.

i know you watch the VFL. Do you think Lester has lost a yard? I have been a Lester admirer for years because he always gIves a 100% and gets the best out of himself. However I worry that as the game speeds up and he slows down he will get exposed at AFL level. Still a very solid VFL player and great leader at that level.
