Why would we move a player thriving in one of the hardest positions on the ground, wing, to a position where his strengths are much easier to be blunted by the opposition as he tries to develop in the AFL
One reason Darcy is injured we need another forward. Why not try Davidson he can always go back to the wing. Some arguing for Lobb who has changed his game going back.

I'd like to see Busslinger finally get his chance to debut.

Hynes clearly needs a bit more time in the VFL.

Wouldn't mind seeing Croft get his chance to play regardless of his recent VFL form. His preseason form was OK and could be used to justify his selection.
He would offer at least as much as Hynes has provided in the last couple of weeks, plus his height and pace gives us a bit of flexibility, particularly if he was the sub.

Lobb to stay back and only get called upon if the other 2nd forward\back up ruck options fail.

Because we have adequate enough depth in KPD to cover we have literally nothing on the wing hence Arty Jones attempted to play a couple of games there to start the season

bev has form playing JOD forward and lobb back tho
Agree, but we have always had at least 2 quality talls up forward since Lobb has been down back.

Will be interesting to hear from training watches to see what talls are training with the forwards. They picked up last week Buku would be forward and JOD back for the Saints game

We need another forward, Lobb is an AFL level forward and can be somewhat covered down back, Davidson has shown to be an AFL level wingman but not a forward and cannot be adequately covered on the wing

Naughton 150th game for the club this weekend let’s hope the club can celebrate with a great win

JJ due to play his 200th game in Ballarat the following week.

Bont and Libba are both due to play their 250th games in consecutive weeks later in the season too.

Harmes and VDM potentially in is very important, especially with McNeill out also. Down a lot of forwards so need those two back.

Never thought I’d be concerned about McNeil going down but he’s been pretty serviceable this year.

History tells us Laith gets picked when fit. I think Harmes comes back into the side and he and Davidson split their time between wing and forward.

Hynes can probably sub again, I know we don’t usually make someone the sub two weeks running, but he played most of the game on Sunday.

In - Harmes, VDM
Out - Darcy, McNeil

Glad that Treloar is only 1-2 now, but annoyed that Weightmann is still indefinite.

Outs -
Darcy (inj)
McNeil (inj)

Ins -
Harmes
Vandermeer

That might be it. Pretty much how we were forced to run last game but with Harmes too frees Bont to play more forward.

Maybe 1 -
Hynes for Buss to allow one/some of our KPDs to rotate forward.

Maybe 2 -
Hynes (or Buku) for Poulter (or Croft) to play forward.

Mind you Hynes showed some signs last week.

OUT: Darcy (Inj), McNeil (inj)
IN: VDM, Harmes

I think we’ll go smaller up front if both VDM/Harmes are available & switch Lobb forward if need be throughout the game.

Hynes likely sub.

However I’d personally love to bring Buss in & move Lobb forward.

Jones, JOD/Khamis & Buss is still a solid backline with Naughton, Lobb, JOD/Khamis forward.

The more I think about it the more I think Lobb needs to go forward. I’m really reluctant to take him out of the backline he’s been our most reliable defender for the best part of 12 months now but I just don’t see a viable alternative.

A forward line of Naughton/JOD/Buku just doesn’t have enough fire power, and we’ll get murdered in Buku’s ruck minutes. Lobb is a legitimate 35-40 goal key forward and can give good ruck support.

I think we can get away with a backline of Jones, JOD, Buku/Buss. Especially if Buss surprises us

We also don’t have the cattle to go “small” as some are suggesting Dolan/Hynes show promise but can’t run out a full game against quality opposition VDM/Harmes off injury leaves Buku or JOD to go on Taylor who will peel off them and destroy us

I think it will just be Harmes and Vandermeer IN, for the injured duo.

We really have the cupboards bare right now. I think we might try and play a little smaller without Darcy, with the odd tall rotating in between from the backline. Tbh, if there is one small positive, it might teach the team not to be focused on kicking to just the one person. We will need to learn to move around more, and spread the ball around better.

Apparently we have the toughest ranked fixture for the next 5 games according to the AFL website. We also have a soft second half of the season. So it will be great to come out of this block with more wins than losses.

Out Darcy, Hynes and I suspect McNeill even if a cautious 1 week.
Ins tough and intel on Hogan only having a 1 week calf would be handy. Big bearing on what’s required down back.
But have 3 out so here goes. In VDM and Harmes if fit. Buss a crack if Hogan in otherwise Gags/the headband to run with Thomas and the Tsunami. Pace could be key rather than height this one

Brent Daniels will miss again for GWS but Cogs and Hogan will be tests. Would be handy if Hogan missed again but sounds like he will play.
