We could've easily finished top four and avoided this so it's our own fault.

Top 4 wasn’t far off at all, even just based on games this week.

Pies scraped home against Demons.
GWS scraped home against Saints.

At least Plrt did us a favour in beating Gold Coast to allow us to secure a home final.

In - Johnson
Out - Wagner
Banners should probably be replaced by Walker or Simpson but JL loves him
It's not about 'love' . It's about backing in a player that played his role in a great win today and contributed to a defensive unit that has held strong over the last few weeks. Maybe he gives more assurance to cox , Pearce and Ryan that if required can help in the contest that walks or simps cant

Walks n simps may add more offence. But they can disrupt the way the backs have played and the roles they been playing. Both may also crumble when the heats on and haven't actually been that great at peel lately

So Wags - depending on how bad it is - could be out for 3-4 weeks or more, likely to not be back for finals.

Would like to think O'Driscoll comes straight back in. He played well at Peel yesterday.

Think finals experience gets NOD the nod over what's likely to be an underdone Johnson.

Walker could be a remote chance as well but moving a defender into the midfield who hasn't played there all season would be a big move for a final.
Johnson can train hard for the next week

It’s virtually everyone on the list available bar Wagner and Sturt.

Walker should be considered but honestly the coach won’t do it.

What about Sharp? He can run defensively, if NOD is that out of favour. Johnson and Erasmus are fine rotating.

Wagner out does make it difficult to come up with a like for like replacement. He can play wing, tag midfield or go back to half back for some rebound. He gives you options for some positional moves when the coaching staff come to making a call on the sub.

A lot ill depend on Johnson's fitness and ability to cover the distances.
Would surely be between him and NOD to come back in, with my money on the former.

O'Driscoll/Johnson for Wagner.

I agree for team balance one of Worner/Banfield should go - however can't see us dropping either.
I’d go nod.
I know he’s been avg to say the least but he turned it on at peel and he is the type of player who could just come out and have 20 and 2 .

Yeah mentioned in the autopsy thread but watching that the backline is in desperate need of some pace.
We cant can’t carry both banners and worner back there

Personally I’d be dropping worner, made some crucial errors in the contest tonight

Walker or Simpson

Johnson for Wagner , he is tall and takes the game on, hasn't really paid badly and probably a bit more consistent that O'driscoll at this stage.
Also keep our fingers crossed Gold Coast at home win by more than 30 points against Essendon( which they should ) so we play them in the elimination final instead of Hawthorn ( if less than 30 points). Prefer to play them, Hawthorn are a tougher proposition at the moment.

a concerning number of media outlets talking about the possibility of Serong being suspended for that bump
Should be fine. One commentator pointed out how Serong went at it with perfect technique and the other player bad technique and cops it high and gets a free. Laughed at the suggestion of Serong getting a suspension.

So 6th it is.
GC if they beat Essendon, Hawks if Bombers get up

Essendon need to win by 30

Do u think cats will want to play us at the G or their home ground (like 2013)😳
The only reason we played them there in 2013 was there were 4 finals at the MCG that weekend.

The AFL is all about $$$.

Finals crowds on average are up on what they were 10-15 years ago.

And the MCC is only guaranteed 1 x final with Collingwood in first 3 weeks.

So they will want both Geelong finals @ the MCG.

I reckon if we play GC it will be the Saturday Night.

But if its Hawks fair chance its a Thursday or Friday night.

GWS v GC will be the Saturday Arvo game.

Channel 7 won't want that in prime time.

Wishful thinking about replacing Banfield or Worner. I'm not a huge fan of either, but one thing you can guarantee from them is a huge effort and they're also used to big games from over the last few months. That counts for a lot.

I'd like Walker in the side in theory, especially for Cameron or Stengle if we were able to win. But hard to throw him in the deep end after being out for so long. And he is still prone to the same errors as Banfield and Worner.

Simpson for ball use out of the backline ... I definitely see the need and I want him playing from Rd 1 next year. But I just can't see JL pulling the trigger this late in the year.

Maybe one of them comes in if Switta doesn't get up, but they don't play in his position. We really need Switta to get up. Would be a huge loss.

NOD or Johnson for Wagner ... can't decide on this one as I see the case for either of them.
