Might want to lock down on Rowell instead. Tough decision. JOM is the guy we use and his body size is more suited to Rowell.

Bit like going to Richards instead of the Bont.
Pretty sure I saw a stat during the week about shutting down Rowell being more influential. Only concern is his leg speed vs a JOM. But probably would've been a bit too powerful for Wags too.

Not sure what to expect from them. Some really dominant performances mixed with some big losses in between. Beat Brisbane by 66 but lose to Adelaide by 60 and GWS by 40z

Wonder if David Swallow will feature for them at all. I think he’s the last of the inaugural suns team left.

Damn, club is selling 3 game memberships to give people access to finals tickets still

its crashed the membership site lol

How many tix do they reserve for GC members?
It's farcical that reserved seat members have to scramble and compete against anything less than full seasonal membership. But alas it is the same every year, well on the odd occasion we make the finals. Just shows what value the AFL and the Club (to a lesser degree) place on full paying members.

As for changes vs Gold Coast i'd prefer a like for like (pace and kicking skills) replacement for Wagner. Simpson has both, Walker has the pace and lock down abilities but gee I still can't forget his final performance against Collingwood.

If we get through the AFL are going to stick us with a short break for week 2 aren't they...
I think unlikely, we would most likely play Saturday again since our opponent plays Friday.

There would be a higher chance we would have to play the prelim off a six day break if we made it that far as that is when teams cross to the other side of the bracket.

So purely out of interest given our strong record against the top 9 teams, and the fact we haven't really been putting away the minnows like some of the flat track bullies this season, I was interested to see where we would actually sit doing Fox Footy's premiership window thing, but only for the top 9 teams against each other.

I had a feeling we would measure up well, where we were just outside the contending quadrant under the full version.

So this is what it looks like below. Interestingly Gold Coast and us are right on top of each other...

*Only factoring in top 9 teams vs each other.

Here's an article about the Fox Footy end of season version here - https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-2025-fox-footy-premiership-window-after-round-24-history-says-four-teams-can-win-flag-collingwood-magpies-slide-brisbane-lions-rise

worth remembering when we beat them on their deck we were without Pearce and Young and it was Darcy's first game back in on managed minutes sharing ruck with Dogga (so limiting Luke's impact).

we can beat these guys if we show up with the same intensity as v bulldogs. GC movement out of the middle glorious to watch, but they won't be playing witch hats next week.

i reckon tagging Rowell is pointless, he's an absolute monster in the guts, almost untacklable, insane core strength.

better to focus on Anderson. fast and skilled but skinny. Rowell can't do his explosive thing if Anderson doesn't get it to him.

need to stick tackles and keep each other accountable. it's all about mindset now, we're definitely at the level.

maybe shitting the bed at home w/ Brisbane has actually set us up better for 'the occasion'.

Any chance someone over in Perth can fix the weather before next Saturday??? In case you forgot, it will be September when the game starts. Not june!

Yep in hindsight i reckon in a few weeks time we will look at that game as the type of loss we needed to have in an non-elimination game.

Some will argue it cost us a top 4 spot.

I sort of disagree it was the losses we had early in the year like Sydney at Home that cost us more.

And the run we were on there was no way i felt we could have kept winning all the way to the GF its just too hard in this game to win 10-11 straight games.

The optimist in me, say these changed the mentality of the team and lead us to win the games.

The pessimist in me says the two Sydney losses, plus Melbourne and St Kilda away cost us dearly, but every time outside of Geelong and Crows would say the same.
