Head hasn't exactly proven himself while the test side's been away. High score of 47, then down to 16 for his high score, post BBL.

To be fair, none of our recent No.6 batsmen have really earnt their spot.

For me, I'd like to see Travis Head given an opportunity to bat at 6 due to his potential.

If you have potential show it consistently in the shield. There is no 'grand final' in test cricket. If the best or equal best option happens to be a young kid, the pick him. If it's a weaker option, not currently in form, don't pick them. Currently, I reckon Head would be a weaker option compared to Henriques or Bailey.

The logical choice (for home conditions) is Shaun to 6 and Usman back in. The issue is Usman's ability against spin. People need to realise that the selectors not picking him for the first 2 Tests is a big indicator of how little they rate him over there. Maxwell will produce similar lazy dismissals like Head, sure, but at least he has the saving grace of being able to play spin over there if called upon.

Big call, I'd agree if we were playing at home, but a quality keeper in India is a must, and Wade is a better keeper, and you also have ti factor in how keeping would affect Handscombs batting, not an easy gig being a test keeper, it becomes twice as hard in India.

If we do play him, I'd bat him at 3, sounds crazy I know but with India's lack of pace options and spin friendly pitches it's what I'd do.

Shaun getting dropped is silly. Mitch on the other hand has to go. Not sure who'd I bring in though. Khawaja makes the most sense but he scares me against spin, Maxwell on the other hand doesn't seem to have a lot of faith in the leadership group and probably goes against our plans for batting.

I'd think about dropping Wade but realistically he hasn't been that awful, and there's no replacements as things stand.

How would that be any different to getting out to an ill-advised regular sweep?

If they have the capacity to change the squad, given that they took calculated (both players were in form) gambles on Renshaw and Handscomb, Lehmann would be worth a shot I reckon. If his dad has had any influence on his cricket you'd think he'd be a decent player of tweak.

I personally don't think you can put a part-time 'keeper in a test against India on these pitches.
What we may gain in runs, we lose in byes and chances.

They were more concerned about adding a Pattinson or Cummins to the squad, rather than batting changes.
