Give me a spell, he is a boy wonder who's name has been put up in lights, plays for any other state and he doesn't see any aussie team coming back from years of injuries. Name me one just one other player who has been thrust into the test team on the back off 1 game in 6 years just one. The selectors play favorites and they always will.

And just on the speed thing, one of australia's all time greats could barely crack 135 yet Brett Lee could crack 160 and never took 10 for in a test, speed aint everything.

I think the selectors hard-on comes from him being a freak talent, not from being a New South Welshman.

Khawaja deserves the batting spot for sure.

What is the plan, to slot him back in during the Aus summer?

Do we drop him again for the next Asian tour because of his record in Asia, even though he's not currently getting a chance to improve his record despite good form?

Ussies a dugong in the field, the other two can at least bat/bowl and field.
But he's many times the batsman, at least on Australian soil. And given the other two aren't Test standard, I would back him in. I understand his struggles against spin and was all in favour of SMarsh over him from the beginning, but with the other two options Stoinis and Maxwell, I would back him in and tell him he needs to perform or he might find himself never playing in Asia again.

Warner isn't top class in these conditions. Handscomb needs to do a bit more as well.

Handscomb's been disappointing but not because he is no good here. Makes a start then tries too hard to push the score along.

Warner meh, I don't expect him to make runs in tough conditions if he does its a bonus.

I'd rather pick SOK rather than have a Haul Mary on Zampa with a FC average of 50 odd!
Fair enough Mr Parker. Each to their own, I won't be dissuaded from my view. What gives me the shits is that the selectors pick players for a Test or two then are discarded. As for what I have just read in the Hun, good luck. Whoever wins the toss wins the series. SOK, rise.

Handscomb has the tools and I wouldn't call for him to be dropped or anything. He's still new to Test level and you can't get a more difficult test then India as your first away tour. Hoping he can string together a couple of 50s over the next two Tests though as it'll be troubling for his confidence if the whole tour is a failure for him.

He's doing fine as a young developing batsman. He doesn't look out of his depth but I wish he would stop giving his wicket away.

If they don't think he can handle the conditions why not take a guy they think can? Just kinda pointless picking him to then play a guy who can't even cut it at first class level over him.
I guess they thought they'd pick him, send him over early to get lots of practice against the spinners in, and then hope he works out a way to be successful in these tracks.

Hohns and Boof are watching his every net. And they are the ones who aren't picking him, so he's obviously not got better.

For all the talk of his fielding i can't recall usman dropping many at test level, would back him in the slips over warner any day of the week.

he's gone into more of a catching role since he did his knee and while he's no Mark Waugh he's pretty good in there.

Given he's pretty slow to the ball he needed to turn himself into a good catcher, and he's done it.
