TBH I don't like any of the options to replace Marsh. But they picked a squad assuming we would get belted....

Usman at three is the strongest possible batting order we can use but if they don't want to do that it's Maxwell at 6 I guess. One thing with the Big Show is he is pretty likely to do something stupid but I am not worried that he doesn't have the skills to handle the bowling of India.

Did you actually have any look at Usman's Khawaja's form over in Sri Lanka RECENTLY?

Well he still scored more in two SL tests than marsh did in these two games, as for that SL series well voges averaged just 19 in SL and warner 24 and neither of them got dumped for it only khawaja seems to lose his spot for having a poor 2 test run, warner also flopped in the away series(nz) right before the SL series while khawaja dominated but still warner is untouchable but khawaja a dud after two poor games.

I should post it again but outside of that 2 test run in SL usman averaged 77 in the last 3 years and while he is derided by many as a flat track bully he was our best against a rampant SA on very difficult green pitches.

Yes, and can he? 1 half century this series probably says he's not this majestic batsman that you're all making him out to be.
One half century in 4 innings is a pretty good average. It's not like your favourite Davey has got there yet.

No one is saying he's a superstar. We're saying he's the best of a bad bunch. Khawaja looked lost against weaker spinners and on tracks that barely took turn.

Number 6 is a batting position, one where you are expected to make runs. I've never been a Marsh basher, I've been hoping he comes good, but I've run out of patience. The final straw for me was his inability to negotiate the final ball of a session in the 1st Innings. He simply has to go. I don't really care who replaces him. He's got some ability, but he clearly struggles with the requirements of Test cricket. I will be very concerned if he lines up again in the 3rd Test.

I actually do feel for him, he got rightly dropped during the home summer and that was his chance to go back to shield for a year or two and show he was a real batsman but a few wins vs an ordinary pakistan and the selectors suddenly decided that with the intense media and fan scrutiny off them that they were right about marsh all along so with no sign of any improvement right back in he goes so now instead of a young bloke who just needs a year or two in shield he might be banished for a long long time all because of their inability to accept they were wrong abut trying to manufacture a batting allrounder that simply doesn't exist right now.

Yeha he was horirble, I don't think 2 test matches from 6 months ago in a different country should make him automatically unpickable though. You blokes carry on like he's never played spin bowling in his life and that S.Marsh is the second coming of christ.

Renshaw
Warner
Smith
Khawaja
S.Marsh
Handscomb
Wade
Starc
O'Keefe
Lyon
Hazlewood

Interesting to see what they do, either with Khawaja or Maxwell. Smith bowled Head over Maxwell in the ODIs, different format but I wonder if he doesn't trust Maxwell's bowling.

Henriques with another 50 in the Shield so I wonder if he'll be brought into the squad. As a decent player of spin he wouldn't be the worst option if they are fixated on an allrounder.

Khawaja in to bat at 4, S. Marsh to bat at 6.

As for the squad replacement, my guess if it's an all-rounder would be Stoinis and I really hope not Moises.

Rather see Henriques get a gig than Maxwell but I still don't get the fascination for a all rounder at 6 especially blokes that ain't that good at either discipline

Stoinis and Cartwright the potential replacements in the squad.

Who the **** writes for Cricket.com.au

"Potential candidates include NSW Blues captain Moises Henriques, New Year’s Test debutant Hilton Cartwright and Victoria’s Marcus Stoinis, who made a stunning return to international cricket in the 50-over format against the Black Caps in January-February"

Stoinis going into today's shield game had 138 runs at 13.8 this Shield season but apparently is in line for a call up. **** off, he's not even playing well enough to be in his state side.

Completely agree and why the hell are we only considering an allrounder? Those 5 overs Marsh contributed across 2 tests really must have been game changing!

That's common sense good sir. Australian selector criteria demands that is non existent
Just pick a bloody batsmen.
