We didn't get anything from M Marsh in that test. He's too straight up and down and is more a stock bowler, that might be ok when we don't have 2 spinners and on a road, but it's not needed in India. Faulkner and his cutters could have been a handful and better option on that pitch. Alas we don't have that option or any real option within the squad to replace M Marsh. Khawaja has been terrible against spin in the past, so that leaves Maxwell. At the very least Maxwell will offer us more in the field and as seen with Starc if his batting comes off a quick fire 40-50 in a low scoring game would be crucial.
It has got me and many others ****ed why Faulkner does not get a consistent go. Has he pissed off Alan Border or something?

He can't make a run or take a wicket in the Shield. Granted; neither can Stoinis but Faulkner is struggling.

No he can't land them consistently.

He would of been ok for the 5 big overs m Marsh bowled though if that's all a 5th bowler does

No leggie part from Warne and maybe Kumble landed them consistently. I guess I just miss having a wrist spinner :( (and a no 6 who can bat)

Mark Waugh must have a vested interest in the Bushies winning the shield ;)
Woohoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! See ya Marcus.

The Bobby show is back

Batting average of 15, bowling average of 39. People have the nerve to suggest selectors prefer NSW players. Absolute insanity.
I don't. It may have happened in the past. It's more like an all rounder bias. Henriques should have been picked.

Gotta pick the journeyman.

Number of FC centuries made by Stoinis this year = 0. Made by Faulkner = 1. Yeah, can't make a run.

That batting average boosted by his season high score of 46 in the current match.

Can anyone explain why Smith can't be the fifth bowler? I reckon he goes ok.

Smith's last 100 FC overs (dates back to March 2014) - 47.27 average, 54.55 strike rate, 5.20 economy rate.

Just gift-wraps runs to the opposition, with the vague hope that they'll mis-hit one when slogging him being the only upside.

That ton was class too. Dug in to avoid defeat and reached 100 very late on in the match.

Be nice if the media just asked boof the right questions here for once and that is why did you pick marsh at 6 if smith wasn't going to bowl him? And why do we then need to bring in another allrounder at 6 if the skipper won't bowl him either?

of all the rubbish allrounder candidates floating around marsh still looked the most likely to take test wickets but if smith doesn't even rate him wtf are we picking them for?

What has Hilton done to go backwards since a credible Test debut?

For the record I'd have picked Henriques though.

They've gone the 3rd of 2 options here.

Its an interesting one, they clearly preferred a batting all rounder with the 2 spinners in Sydney, then they went back to the bowling all rounder in Marsh ye batted him at 6 well above his capabilities, now they are picking Stoinis who is once again a batting all rounder over Cartwright who did no wrong.

I suppose its what they have always done, rating centuries at ODI level being against an international opposition, higher than runs in the Shield competition. Whether that's right or not, who knows? Some of the Shield attacks are pretty weak and some of the pitches obviously extremely flat
