How is Patto bowling in the shield? Hope he has ramped up from the Big Bash where he was very ordinary, though somewhat understandably since it was his comeback.

I made myself very clear at the time the squad was picked ( starc )coming backk from injury that

James Faulkner should go as a left arm back up
the selcetors will pick a leftie (doug the rug )

Well, it was fun while it lasted guys :)

Can't see us getting it done without Starc now India grabbed the momentum.

At least the loss of Starc is offset by the loss of M Marsh #silverlining

I think Cummins, with Hazelwood, is the best fast bowler in the country. Such a risk sending him but at 1-1 could be a series winner too. To me we are sending a better bowler than Starc and one who bats just as well.

The downside is if he gets hurt he's in doubt for the Ashes where he could really dominate so it's a dilemma.

I dont wanna sound like rod Marsh... but starcs batting was a valuable asset to the lineup. A tail of hazlewood Lyon bird could be 7 out all out

Given the squad they've picked they don't have a lot of other options, maybe 3 spinners Agar to strengthen the batting a lot will depend on the pitch I spose

They need to send someone else, unfortunately those in charge of these decisions gave us Stoinis last time

But we are already consistently 7 out all out with Hazelwood/Lyon/O'Keefe anyway.

Maybe with the injury of M.Marsh we strengthen the number 6 spot, Wade can stop hanging his hat on being a campaigner behind the stumps and actually score runs, and then all of a sudden we are not relying on a number 11 to score runs to be competitive.

That's ridiculous and a stupid reason to not pick a bowler.

Maybe we should drop Warner and pick Cummins to sure up the bowling, because if we get them out for approx 100 in each innings we will win?

He's played two games in six years Jim.

You need to ignore his LO bowling, which is and always has been expensive and mostly trash. He's a Test strike bowler nothing else.

Seen enough of him to say he'll be our best. Not worried about how many he's played. IMO only of course, I think he can be one of our great quicks. Of course injuries do concern me with him going to India but at 1-1, needing only one win to retain the BG Trophy, I can see why they are taking him.

Hahaha one shield game in 6 years. **** me CA never learn, he'll break down again.
Note to Australian paceman: Don't bother playing shield cricket if you aren't on the golden ticket list, you won't get a game.

Don't care, seen enough of him to say he'll be our best.
He's an ordinary bowler. Leaks runs, can't hit the same spot in an over and doesn't swing the ball much. He's been carried through the ODIs and gifted games on the back of poor returns. It's hilarious.

Obviously an all-or-nothing gamble given the series in the balance. But **** me, if he breaks down, Cummins should be allowed to sue them for negligence. Pattinson probably would have been the safer option, having played Big Bash and Shield since his return.

I ceased to take you seriously long ago. You know nothing about cricket.

Wouldn't have picked Patto either. Both need more shield cricket.
Hope both play County cricket to get more 4 day cricket.

Yep, I don't follow the sheep so I know nothing about cricket. Yep. Great come back. Yep.

You can see this the match where they play 6 specialist batsmen and Cummins and then India will make 600, forcing Cummins to bowl 35+ overs

I thought that initially, but all judgements on his ability to play spin aside hes a batsmen if they play bird he almost has to be at 6 to strengthen the batting as much as possible.

You are a fair dinkum joke stick to the SRP board.

"Pat has impressed in his return to cricket this summer with consistent performances in his ODI, twenty20 international and Big Bash matches.
Quote from Hohns.

Let's study that shall we.

In ODIs he took 18 wickets from 10 matches. Economy rate of 5.24. Of those 18 wickets, just for 5 came before the 35th over despite bowling first change. 10 came after the 40th over and most were tail end batsman going for a slog trying to either reach an unreachable score or set a higher target.

In T20Is he took 2 wickets from 3 matches. Economy rate of 7.7 and only bowled his full compliment once.

In the BBL he took 7 wickets from 6 matches at an Economy rate of 9.31.

Looking at those stats... how is that a man who impressed? Granted he was consistent.. consistently poor.

Have you got anything worthwhile to add or are you just going to play the man while the ball goes through for a goal?

Yeah, but you have to be realistic about what the selectors are thinking. Cummins and Pattinson are clearly seen as international quality bowlers, Dorff and Sayers a rung below. The only truly fit option is Sayers and he doesn't seem to be in the frame.
