I really want to hear the selectors explain why they picked an all rounder for 6 who has shown he is not up to it with the bat and a shoulder so bad he could barely bloody bowl. Someone needs to be accountable for that as I reckon it's a monumental balls up
Team morale in the dressing room.

'Pacemen Pat Cummins and Jackson Bird struggled to get the ball above waist height on the practice wicket behind the ground.'

Could see them going with Agar and possibly Stoinis to cover for only one quick.

We can only pray we win the toss.

Is the practice wicket necessarily going to be the same as the actual one the game is played on, though?

Cummins will bowl too short, and get carted.
Bird's never got one over waist height anyway.

Local conditions. It is hot as hell coupled with lack of money and facilities tripled with a bit of home ground pitch doctoring. Play the conditions. India's equivalent of the WACA. Why not just go 3 spinners? Horses for courses.

I agree conditions are totally foreign and unexpected but that is Test Cricket. It is not as if a gun is being fired at 20 paces. And both sides play on it.

My 11 if reports are true:
1 Warner
2 Renshaw
3 Smith
4 S. Marsh
5 Maxwell
6 Agar
7 wade
8 Swepson
9 O'Keefe
10 Lyon
11 Hazlewood

If a win is all that matters and this is a Golden achievement (which it is) you simply need to pick the best 11 relevant to who is available and conditions. Granted this contradicts everything I've posted previous but you pick the best 11 to win.

"Pattinson asked to be excluded from India tour"

Don't know how accurate this headline on cricinfo is. Hope it isn't.
WTF is wrong with these blokes?
Never pick him again if that's his attitude (I'm a Vic too.) I reckon Chadd Sayers would have said "What flight do you want me on....."

Jeez, that's a bloody long tail......

Christ on a bike - what are these reports? 5 spinners?

I wouldn't expect the practice wicket we're given to be an accurate guide to what our bowlers can expect of the Test pitch.

Are you seriously bagging the guy for this? Everyone that follows cricket has said the exact same thing and has expressed surprise/disappointment that Cummins has been called up for the exact same reasons. They have both battled injuries and need to prove themselves before being called back into the Test side. I can guarantee you that Pattinson would've thought long and hard about this decision, because a large part of him would have desperately wanted to be there. But he made a mature decision based on his previous experience. He should be celebrated for not selfishly claiming full fitness and then not bring able to deliver (not saying that Cummins is guilty of this by the way).

That is an embarrassingly underwhelming Australian Test side right there. I see where you're coming from, but that team would lose by an innings and plenty.

Sorry, but Pattinson's going to be remembered as the bloke who didn't quite make it, always injured. Get over to India mate and have RHG.
