Thoughts on changes for both teams.

Aussies Usmin comes back. I think its just bad luck for Marsh as not suited to opening.

For Windies I would give Carlos Braithwaite a game in place of Gabriel and drop Samuels for Dowrich. Tell Ramdin he is on his last chance.

they just named the squad for the remaining 2 Tests:
Australia squad: Steve Smith (c), David Warner (vc), Joe Burns, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Josh Hazlewood, Usman Khawaja, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Shaun Marsh, Peter Nevill, Stephen O'Keefe (Sydney only), James Pattinson, Peter Siddle, Adam Voges.

I don't know enough about the squad, but they should drop one or both of the bowlers that refused to bowl into the wind.
Has this been confirmed or just rumoured in a newspaper report? They way Roach valued his wickets and embraced Bravo it looked like he cared and it would suprise me.

Has anyone got a serious answer as to what changes the Windies should make? Should they drop Samuels?
Their options are pretty limited with a 15 man squad that already looks pretty thin.

Bishoo should replace Gabriel. Aside from that... maybe you could drop Taylor and bring in Dowrich to strengthen the batting a little? Dunno what else they can do though, they don't really have the cattle.

Would 2 spinners work in Melbourne?

I hope S March doesn't get dropped. I wouldn't change a thing. I know Khawaja is now fit but IMO he now has to wait until there is another injury or someone performs badly to get his spot back. Not exactly fair on him but I don't think anyone deserves to be dropped, especially not Marsh.

gonna be tough for the windies - they went into hobart with their supposedly best XI.

lean pickings and other 4 players in the touring partyare:

bishoo the leggie (15 tests)
carlos braithwaite a bowling allrounder type (yet to play test cricket)
dowrich - wicketkeeper batsman (2 tests)
hope - wicketkeeper batsman (5 tests)

doesn't help that they have a 2 day game down in geelong before the boxing day test.

Keep the current XI for the next Test. If (when?) we win in Melbourne, we can rest a few guys.

Smith is apparently carrying a bit of a niggle, plus a couple of the bowlers could get given a break. So Khawaja, NCN and maybe O'keefe could come in then.

If we rest Smith, that means Warner captains. So, um, thanks but no thanks.

But I could see a few players being 'rested' to allow Coulter-Nile, O'Keefe and Khawaja to come in for Sydney.

M. Marsh to go and get some time in the middle for WA, as he's unlikely to get it in Melbourne.

I'd be happy with this :thumbsu:

I'd drop Blackwood before anyone else. Three ducks in his last three innings against Australia.

After that, Chandrika should go. Three ducks in his four Test innings. Not Test standard. Barely proven that he's FC standard.

This is the side I'd like to see from them in Melbourne:

1. Kraigg Brathwaite (VC)
2. Shai Hope
3. Darren Bravo
4. Marlon Samuels
5. Shane Dowrich
6. Denesh Ramdin (+)
7. Jason Holder (C)
8. Carlos Brathwaite
9. Kemar Roach
10. Jerome Taylor
11. Jomel Warrican

Shannon Gabriel (injured)
Jermaine Blackwood (dropped)
Rajendra Chandrika (dropped)
Devendra Bishoo

If one of Roach or Taylor continues to bowl poorly in Melbourne, I'd drop them for Bishoo in Sydney. In fact, I'd probably just do it anyway.
