Logical decision with Khawaja for Marsh.

I think M. Marsh will be reviewed too if Burns plays well this test.

I don't think an all rounder position is essential for this side.

He isn't from NSW, hey Luke?

The obvious choice was to drop Mitch. Allrounders must justify their selection. They are picked as a batsman or bowler foremost. Not this Marsh however!

Then pick Henriques or another AR. Going in with 4 bowlers when one is Pattinson who has broken down in the past is asking for trouble.

I don't like it as Marsh is one of my favourite players, but the whole 'last in, first out' methodology is still a fairly reasonable and logical option for the selectors in this case.
Yet these are the same selectors who all but ended Brad Haddin's career after he took a game off to be with his sick daughter. Whatever you think of the personalities involved, a bit of consistency wouldn't go astray.

I hope Victorians remember the free ride Boland is being given next time they whinge about other states getting preferential selection.
****en lol.

Small difference of Haddin being absolutely rubbish for 12 months prior and Nevill having a good debut. Khawaja has made 2 tons this summer...I'm not his biggest fan but he has many more runs than Marsh has this summer.

Quick question. I missed the cricket news of actual squads in recent days for Test. Too much Christmas stuff on too notice.
Can someone let me know the full teams whether they be the eleven named or squad of 12 for tomorrow ?
Might even go during day if I get a few other things done first.

The dropping of Shaun Marsh is simply ridiculous. The guy has natural talent and in the form of his life, so to leave him out because of the selectors obsession with picking an all-rounder is basing selection not on the best 11 players available.

For the majority of Australia's Test selection we have picked the best six batsmen and four best bowlers. We should stick to that policy.

Picking an all-rounder because you are not convinced your three main bowlers can last a five-day Test match shows issues around preparation and fitness.

Shaun Marsh should be playing.

Gillespie the last I can think of to be dropped from the Australian side with a higher last innings. Did it happen to Hodge as well?
Hodge was dropped two Tests after making 203. Slater was dropped about three after making 219.

Hope it stops :|

I've said here a few times today is my first Boxing Day.

And yet I'm conflicted.. given what's going on down past Lorne and the Ottways, it doesn't feel quite right hoping the rain stops...

It can rain to its heart content down there. Just not in Melbourne. :)

Yeah, let it rain for a while if it helps out down there.

Bit late for that! The radar reckons there's not much left, but it's still pretty ugly here just north of Clifton Hill (about 15 mins on the train from the G).

And I know they rave about the G's drainage, but 30mms of rain since (I think) about 3am this morning isn't insignificant.

That said, I'm convinced of my prediction last night - we will surely get just enough play today that CA keeps everyone's money.

The rain is slowly passing from west to east... at a guess, it'll completely pass over the MCG in the next hour or two. There will probably be a delayed start, but hopefully not by too much.

Unfortunately, though, rain is predicted for later in the day as well.

Tell you what, researching the refund policy will make you hate CA even more...

With tickets as expensive as $115, they start keeping money after 10 overs of play! Full refund for less than 10 overs, 50% refund for less than 25 overs.

That's disgusting. It'll be a bloody long time before I pre-buy tickets again. Obviously my fault for not finding this out beforehand. I guess I assumed they might be reasonable...
