Agreed. Sick of this fear of replacing non-performing senior players simply because the pressure is on. We won games earlier in the year by prioritising youth, now that we're being conservative the whole side is stagnating. I doubt that Nelson would have fared worse than Butler in the backline, and I doubt Lamb would have fared worse much worse than McGinnity in the forwardline (on the proviso that he tackles like his life depended on it).

Selwood has just lost all confidence.

He gets caught holding the ball every game, it's as if he's forgotten the rules, he makes no effort to get rid of it when you can tell he's about to be pinged.

We don't have to make wholesale changes, but I think dropping him for Nelson would improve the team.
 
Just imagine if that was Hill sprinting forward to receive Darlings long kick........a goal not a point and WC is in front by 4goals. In my OP the match committee cost us that game. They played Hill the week after after he had that bad knock to his shoulder instead of giving him time to recover, then has a poor game and gets dropped for the game that he's probably feeling right to go. Averages 1.5 to 2 goals a game and gets put down left right and centre. Poor effort by the MC in my OP. The fact is the bloke kicks goals and some bloody difficult ones too.
Playing Selwood, McGinnity, and Hutchings is a bad version of ground hog day.

Hutchings can play as a defensive forward. He's a good tackler and doesn't stop running. He's not much chop as an offensive forward though, and neither is McGinnity. I'm sure as **** we can find a better alternative to all three of Hill, Hutch and Paddy if we recruited for one though.
 
Sad as it is i doubt nicnat will be back for the derby sunday his mothers funeral is on friday put on his brothers facebook.
 
If we want to be considered as a premiership chance, we need to be able to win games without Nic Nat

Exactly.

We drop Hill because he had one bad game.

We won't drop Selwood when all his games have been bad.

Double standards.

Hill's had a great year.

Hutchings just doesn't have the leg speed to play that role unfortunately. Our lack of small forwards that can go through the middle is concerning.

Look at the Bulldogs for example. They have Daniel, Hrovat, Hunter, Honeychurch and Dahlhaus as options. WC have Cripps and Lecras then Hill, Karpany, Mcginnity and Newman.

Karpany is looking like a bust, Mcginnity is Mcginnity and Newman is returning from a year in jail. I would think that position would be strengthened in the offseason.

This is a bit silly. He had a great first 7 games after regaining a spot in the 22. He has been poor for almost half the season now though. Sure he started off very well, and had two good bits of play against the Pies, but his ability to be no where near the ball for extended periods of time is super human.

In his last 8 games he has kicked 6 goals and has had less than 10 possessions in half of the 8 games, with another game of 11.

But his pressure acts I hear you say? He's laid 6 tackles in the last 6 games.

While his drop in performance has been somewhat influenced by the return of Darling, it is still a clear drop. His form has been ordinary and to say it was one bad game or that his omission cost us on the weekend is revisionism at its best.

We have to play two ruckmen and I would expect one or both of Sinclair or Nic Nat to be available. Selwood and Hutchings competing for the one spot and personally, Hutchings is playing better footy.

I don’t understand why Nelson hasn’t been playing all year. Extremely solid at the start of the year and seems to possess poise and good foot skills. He's another victim of us trying to fit senior players into the mix, when the younger model is better. I understand having Nelson, Butler and Ellis in the starting 21 probably seems a bit much, but I’d like to see Nelson rotated through the midfield and not see Yeo rotated into defence.

IN: Barrass OUT: McGovern
Straight swap if McGovern is injured. I’ve read a couple of people suggest that Gov might of only suffered cramp and will be available this week. The medical staff would want to be bloody certain befre risking him for our finals, hammies can be bastards of things.

IN: Hill OUT: LeCras
Straight swap if LeCras is suspended. Hopefully the week off has done Hill some good.

IN: Naitanui OUT: Lycett
Only if Nic is able to play. Completely understandable if he isn’t.

Sub: McGinnity
I think McGinnity will add some aggression and pace coming on in the final quarter. I’m predicting that the game will be tough and contested for the first three quarters, then open up in the final as players start to tire. If Freo lose McPharlin, they will put numbers behind the ball and congest our forward 50 to prevent being exposed and keep Pavlich and Walters set for the sling-shot counter-attack. With the game opening up Mcginnity can provide more of an impact than the likes of Selwood or Rosa. If the game remains close, I’d back him to offer more spark than them as well. By ‘spark’ I do include copping a 3 week suspension for the good of the team.
 
Hate to say it, but I think we got Freo at the wrong time. 4 weeks ago we would have shat all over that joke of a football club, but without NicNat, McGov and LeCras I think we're gonna get done.

Sub: McSh*T**ty (solely to come on at 3 quarter time, go the fist and rub Fyfe out of Brownlow contention, paving the way for a Priddis back2back and a BigFooty meltdown)

EDIT: If we are going to win, multiple teams have proven this year that you need to get 4 or 5-odd goals in front of Freo and then just defend, because the Purps lack the scoring power to play catch-up footy, especially in the wet. We need to jump out of the blocks early and then maintain the rage. If Freo get out to a 3-4 goal lead at any stage of the game then we are f*cked.

Are people keeping tabs on NN's brother's FB page just to try to guess when he will be back? Or do these people know his brother personally? Cos you know, the former would be a little bit creepy.

He'll be back when he's back. And even if it was somehow this week, keep in mind he wouldn't have trained properly for a week and a half. And we wouldn't know if he felt ready to play anyway, which is why it's kind of pointless trying to figure out what the family's schedule is.
