Adelaide took one week off when their coach died.
This is Nic's mother. He deserves more than a week, especially as he has to travel to see family and attend the funeral.

As sad as it is there is still some good to come out of it.
Lycett played a good game last week and is arguably our best ruckman against Sandi as he looks for body before anything else and always offers a contest in the ruck.

Sinkers and Nic can't compete with Sandi at general ball ups as well as Lycett IMO.
Nic in the middle is an advantage to us but this week we have to win it for him and not with him.

I don't like bringing in Hill yet, considering the fact that both Nelson and Bennell played good games on the weekend, give them a go.

I wouldn't mind them possibly swinging Wellingham into LeCras' role, he is somewhat similar with class, speed, overhead marking and x factor goal sense. This will mean Bennell and Nelson can come in.

INS: Bennell, Nelson, Sinclair and Barrass
OUTS: LeCras, Selwood, McGinnity and McGovern

Hutch to sub

I am on the train with this one, agree ... I wouldn't mind throwing them a curved ball, actually, in Adamson. We need to replace Lecca's midfield minutes, so need another rotation. Would like Nelson and Adamson to rotate through there off a half forward flank. Hotline has been in good form through the midfield in the last 2-weeks for EP - he would need to be promoted onto the main list though. Can we still do that?

NicNat not playing this week either, Going to be very hard to get up this week

Lots of unknowns.. Johnson for example. His inclusion is decisive, he could either play well and cover McPharlins absence with ease.. or he could hobble around like an old mole (after 10 weeks out) and play like shit. If Pav is out the Dockers are light on key forwards. If Fyfe plays like he did prior to being rested he's no great inclusion and if Mundy is out.. I'd go as far as saying our midfield is in fine shape. Much will depend on Lycett following up his great game last week, our good players maintaining their form and squeezing better games out of the blokes who were down last week (yeo, Wellingham, Masten, Cripps, Selwood, Rosa)

Wellingham has found a spot and made it his with the best form we've ever had from him. Would not change that now. We are holding on by a thread down back. Robbing our defense for attack is not the way I would go about it

If both WA teams finish #1 and 2, -> high chance that we will not meet until Grand Final.
If Dockers #1, WCE #3, -> high chance, Dockers and WCE meet the week before Grand Final --> guarantee 1 WA team in Grand Final.
If Dockers #1 WCE #4, --> high chance we will meet the Hawks away the week before the Grand Final (unless we beat the Dockers in the 1st week).
With that 2nd is better than 3rd is better than 4th.

Finsishing 4th would be best IF we can beat Freo in the QF. Then they'd have to travel to play Hawks in the PF, we get home PF against Swans or someone similar, which we could win. Neither us, or Freo will beat the Hawks in an away PF.

We're no chance, lets all just hope Nic is ready to play next week, as we need to beat the Dogs to stay in the top 4.

Honestly, I though he might play this week, I know that might seem insensitive, but I thought he may want to get back around his mates and do his family proud, not that he's not doing them proud by not playing, if that makes sense. I know it's an incredibly tough time for him, but I hope, from a supporters POV, his reason for not playing the derby is more logistical/timing, than him not feeling up to it, because I can't see how mentally, that would change from this week to next.
He has the funeral Friday. Would most likely have to fly back on the Saturday, 13 hr flight. He just wouldn't be ready

Ideal situation is to finish 2nd on the ladder, and have a home final against the Hawks
To do that, we must win every game from here out (or hope that Hawks slip up)

Next best scenario is to finish 4th. This is almost impossible to design given the rise of the Bulldogs. Finishing 4th would mean we play Freo first week, essentially giving us two home finals

What we want to try and avoid is finishing 3rd. That will almost certainly mean travelling to melbourne to play Hawks.

Losing no games from here on out will land us in 2nd = Success
Losing one more game from here on out will land us in 3rd = Not Ideal
Losing 2 more games from here on out will land us in 4th or possibly 5th = Too Risky to try and plan for

Right, and how do we avoid playing Hawthorn in the GF in the other situations?

Admittedly the leadup from finishing fourth does sound appealing though, if we can keep winning.

Hope they lose ? :p
In all seriousness if we are to somehow get through to the Grand Final, we will have to beat Hawthorn eventually

Man wouldn't a WC Freo granny just blow the damn lid off the joint. At least one of the players probably wouldn't survive.

Knowing us, it'd be on our side and our injury list would say:
McGinnity - severed jugular (1 week)

we will finish 5th or 6th tho . hawthorn, sydney ,western bulldogs, richmond and still north melbourne all could finish ahead of us . we will lose to freo , could lose to bulldogs , will lose to adelaide in adelaide if we lose those 3 games hawthorn sydney western bulldogs and possibly richmond could jump us . Nic Nat was a big loss

Yeah because our track record against Freo is good haha either way we will have to play out of our skins too win our first Final, Freo at home with 40 thousand screaming purple flogs wouldn't be ideal if you ask me, but i suppose at least we wouldn't have to travel and play the silk !!

Tickets for a derby final are split in proportion to membership numbers so there won't be 40000 purple people. If anything it would be slightly in our favour as we have more members
