Really even if one team finishes higher ?
Yep. The grounds in all finals are considered neutral venues so supporters of competing teams are allocated tickets in equal proportion to their memberships.

Atmosphere at a derby final would be electric because support would be relatively even

Yeah that's crazy and a bit unfair especially if Freo finished on top and Eagle's 3rd

Gah...it feels like we are on the verge of falling out of the eight not sitting in second. I don't expect this sensation to improve after Sunday. Losing to Hawthorn is going to bite us on the arse as our blokes are not quite mature enough to cope with the "meta-game" pressure it seems.

Lose to Freo, as I anticipate with our injuries, and the Bullies will play like madmen against us.

A poor performance against the Suns and a tough loss to the Hawks and I've turned to water!

Why are people saying adelaide in adelaide is a loss am i missing something?
I see Adelaide game as our toughest one, apart from this weekend. I have confidence that we'll beat the dogs at/in Subiaco. For mine, Selwood would have to go before McGinnity and Hutchings simply based on performance, however, perhaps the MC has a role this weekend for Selwood...which I thought would've been to shut down Mitchell last week.

To be honest there's nothing to be done about the players missing out this week, so why not focus instead on how well our depth has performed all year. We go out on Sunday with 22 players and for one I'm really excited to see what the deep end of our list can do.

In: Nelson, Hill, Barrass. Would like to see Lamb get a spin as the sub instead of Hill, but reckon they'll play Hill a full game instead.

Interesting. I'm personally terrified of coming up against the Bulldogs but not too phased by Adelaide.

Yep especially after 2 hard wet games, and if it's dry against the bulldogs there is a good chance they could run as of our feet has Danger game written all over it not to mention a Mark Robinson carry on !!!

Ideal situation is to finish 2nd on the ladder, and have a home final against the Hawks
To do that, we must win every game from here out (or hope that Hawks slip up)

Next best scenario is to finish 4th. This is almost impossible to design given the rise of the Bulldogs. Finishing 4th would mean we play Freo first week, essentially giving us two home finals

What we want to try and avoid is finishing 3rd. That will almost certainly mean travelling to melbourne to play Hawks.

Losing no games from here on out will land us in 2nd = Success
Losing one more game from here on out will land us in 3rd = Not Ideal
Losing 2 more games from here on out will land us in 4th or possibly 5th = Too Risky to try and plan for
I agree with you either second or fourth. However we don't want to finish 5th lets win as many as we can second being the aim

Not too phased with where we sit.

Way I see it is that there's no point worrying about losing these 'danger games' because it'll simply be a fair indication of where we are at.

If we finish 5th or 8th or 3rd it's because that's how good we are - if we can't beat Adelaide, Freo and Bulldogs in the following three weeks, then we're just as likely to lose to them in a final anyway, so what's the big deal?

I was pissed off last weekend because we almost had it under extreme personnel shortage, which would have been a triumph - but not because it affected our ladder position.

I don't buy this "anything can happen in a final" nonsense. Performances in the H&A season are less predictable than in finals IMO. It will be a Hawthorn-Freo GF.

We can beat Adelaide and the Bulldogs don't worry the Dogs can only play at Ethiad stadium when they come here we wont allow the midfield the same space given to them by the Bombers and Port. I want us to monster them in the middle. But for now lets focus on the derby

The dogs leg speed might cause a few issues but we are actually one of the teams better suited to match up on their forward line which has a range of deadly mid sized forwards, given our lack of lumbering key defenders and ability to switch everything, and they don't really have a super dangerous small forward which is something we do have issues with.

I'd expect us to beat them reasonably comfortably at home, especially if Nic Nat is back. They will have to play Minson to have any chance of not getting absolutely crushed in the ruck, and even he'll be crushed.

Fully agree - which is a shame. Just reckon we will run out of legs/healthy players before then.

Cant complain, would have taken this season if offered it at the start of the year.

Much progress made, much progress to come!! We are a genuine chance in 2016.

Unless we do a port, or us in 2013. Success one year doesn't automatically result in the same or better the next, we need to make the most of this year, while the chance is here, play as thpugh this is the only chance you will get. Players lik Butler and our coaches who have been there need to instill that in the players. You may only get 1 chance.
