Strategy Changes for Derby

McPharlin won't play (not worth the risk), Dawson's still suspended and even if Johnson does play (underdone) they have some serious defence issues (same as we do). Think we exploit there lack of Talls in Defence and take a punt on Lamb for this week:

OUT
Lecras (suspended), Mcgovern (inj), Ellis (inj)

IN
Lamb, Barrass, Sinclair

Unless we do a port, or us in 2013. Success one year doesn't automatically result in the same or better the next, we need to make the most of this year, while the chance is here, play as thpugh this is the only chance you will get. Players lik Butler and our coaches who have been there need to instill that in the players. You may only get 1 chance.
I agree I don't belive in this playing for next year look at Port 2013 and 2014 and done nothing, Sydney 2014 = Look shot year. You have to strike while the iron is hot. WHen we get Gov, Nic Nat and Lecras we are a gun side and we can beat teams in the finals we have to make the most of it now you don't know whats going to happen in 4 weeks let alone 2016

Bulldogs at home isn't a danger game. Taking nothing away from the Dogs they have been great but besides Hawks and Freo who are the two best teams at the moment, we've beating everyone at home by 50+ points including the mighty Cats and Sydney, Crows etc.

I expect a win in Adelaide also.
St Kilda, tick.

Freo is the make or break game for top 2 and confidence going into the finals.

Lycett will match up well against Sandi and think he might suprise a few.
Sinkers in the forward line to stretch the Frwo defence that will probally miss McPharlin and will have their hands full with JK and The King.
The lose of Lecras is mostly replaced by Hill who has everything to play for.

Needs Cripps to have a good game and kick a couple. Shuey to break out of packs and hopefully kick one.
Priddis to do his thang' Gaff the same.

Barrass to play McGovern's role. Shep and Wellers have been excellent all year.

Pretty much just have to win the ball out of the middle. Freo don't score much and it will be wet so a game like last week from everyone should see them off.

Lycett to curb Sandi's influence is where this game will be won or lost. I'm backing him in.

We can beat Adelaide and the Bulldogs don't worry the Dogs can only play at Ethiad stadium when they come here we wont allow the midfield the same space given to them by the Bombers and Port. I want us to monster them in the middle. But for now lets focus on the derby
Beat Richmond at the G
Beat Sydney at the SCG

The'yre not exactly lay down Sallies away from Docklands.

This is true, but if we are worried about losing some of the next few games (even when NN and Le Cras are back) because it will make finals 'harder' for us, then we surely can't be confident that we will strike while the iron is hot in 4 weeks time.

If we can't win the next three games, then we are not good enough to win the flag. Simple as that

Richmond, too hard to use as a for line, they are too up & down, plus they beat the Swans early. We all know the Swans start years slowly, difference is this year, they haven't really got much better.

Agreed. But I think the talk of being happy with what we've done, compared to what most us expected this year, should come once the seasons finished, while it's going, I feel like I'm not satisfied unless we go deep into the finals. It's the same sort of feeling I get from the Hawks game, on one hand, great effort, almost got there against a great side. On the other, pissed off we let it slip, like so many of our losses in the last year and a bit, we could have won.

I was responding to someone saying the Dogs can't win away from Etihad.

That is patently false.

We have far exceeded anyone's expectations this year, including many posters on this forum. I thought we would be 10th or 11th.

But that doesn't mean that we can sit back and relax. We need to be hungry for success and continue to improve.

Beating the Purples this weekend will go a long way to proving to ourselves that we have what it takes. We have shown we do, so lets prove it at the weekend.

Bulldogs at home isn't a danger game.

4th on the ladder isn't a danger game?

This could be against a side who has 2 points out of 3 weeks come Sunday evening

Yes we have improved, but lets not put the cart before the horse

That's the attitude, we are a good team we have buried Adelaide and St Kilda and lets see how good those Dogs are outside of Ethiad. I want to see them match up on Nic Nat and Lecras and co

Besides the derby, this is the test I'm excited about. The Dogs are in form, confident and top 4 ATM.
We have their measure and this is the Dogs at their best that we would've played them in 5 years.
Bring it on!

Few conflicting stories coming out of Freo. I read on their board that all of Fyfe, Mundy & Johnson trained really well. Then I read in the same thread, that Lauchie Read said it was a closed session, and that A freo Player told him Mundy was in the gym. Then read a story on the West website, that Mundy, Pav & McPharlin didn't train??

Also hearing that Pav has an achilles problem, then others saying it's a hip and a calf:drunk:

So someones playing silly buggers down at Freo oval!!
