Stop the squabbling thanks. thread is turning to shite.
Yep so back to my hopefull outs.

Given we would be able to replace them all I'll stick to three outs. Who comes in... Happy if deboer comes in as long as he is in the middle. After that the usual suspects of young guys would be great.

Out: Mayne. Suban. Pearce.

If we could drop more than three then I'd add Barlow to the mix too sadly.

If Barlow isn't playing on ball then he hasn't got a spot either sadly.

Changes for the derby

Out : Sheridan (injured) caused two fumbles in a row against the Suns and his disposal usually goes to the other team. Can carry the footy but causes critical errors at important times in the game.

Suban

Barlow : burnt out needs a break. No point intended lol

Sutcliffe

Ins: tucker for Sheridan

Mzungu for Barlow

Griffin/tabs for sutcliffe to help balance side and help sandi out to keep Alex Pearce either down back or up front. If tabs comes in put Alex down back. Dawson struggling to cover big blokes

Suban for grey

Spurr Dawson Tucker

Ibbotson Pearce Johnson

Hill Mundy. Pearce

Mayne. Tabz/griffin. Mzungu

Ballaz. Pavlich. Walters

Ruck:
Sandi
Fyfe
Neale

Bench:
Grey
Pearce
Langdon
Weller

Don't worry Ross loves the guy. He will play majority of the season

Ross loves the guy because he has excellent disposal unlike more than half our team. As a result he should be one of the last players me move out.

Out - Mayne ( his effort is great, his kicking has left him )
C. Pearce ( finds the ball well, then gives it to the opposition )
Sutcliffe ( not sure what has happened but he has fallen away drastically)

In - Tabs ( we need to upskill key position talent and he is our only real choice )
Griffin ( Sandi is going to need a hand against the WC double team )
Tucker ( another talented youngster with elite disposal to replace Sutcliffe)

This way players like Langdon, Weller, Tucker with excellent disposal all get big game experience as well as continuing to develop A.Pearce and Tabs.

We need to look to the future and hopefully Barlow has an excellent game because his start to the year has been awful.

Mind you, so has Fremantle's!

Zac Dawson has better disposal efficiantcy out of the two game this year and only two more clangers. Mind you the whole team has been poo. But Dawson better......

And so he should, he's a massive part of our future.

Absolutely shits me that people whinge about not playing youth yet they want him to be dropped.........

And how often does Dawson try burst through the centre and hit a forward with a high degree of difficulty kick like Sheridan did to Pav in the first qtr?

Bit easier to keep your disposal efficiency up when your brief is to chip it sideways to a teammate with better disposal.

Because people do not consider him youth. Seems like youth is only the last two years :)

Idiots!!!
A 22 year old with 40 games under his belt that can run and break the lines is 100% what we are seeking.

I was looking at the stats for the first 2 weeks and became apparent to me that are failing this season because we can't get the ball into the hands of our best ball users.

Our leading tackler this year is Hill.
Our leading disposals are players like Clancy Pearce .

We need to get the ball to Hill Weller Johnson Mundy.......players that can kick.

Perhaps our problem is not the personnel we have playing but just that we are getting the ball to the wrong players.

Clancee is always free because other teams are happy for him to get a kick as they know they're getting it back.

Zac Dawson has a 1:2 Kick to hanball ratio. Sherro has a 2:1 kick/handball ratio and generally takes riskier options in an attempt to attack.

I think the disposal eff % is one of the most misleading stats. The fact that a hospital handpass is considered effective is misleading. Bombing it 40+ to a 1v3 contest is considered effective too, I think it would be much better if they split handball efficiency and kicking efficiency. They could take it further by only including forward ball movement to take out dinky kicks in the backline.

Everyone has their opinion lets just hope we can turn our season around. Will be a interesting time at the selection table. Will be interesting to see how many changes there will be considering the first two games. Our new game plan to kick into gear this weekend?Fingers crossed it does. Every westcoast fan will be rubbing their hands together at this one. Let's prove them wrong and cause an upset

For the derby, I think more so than changing the personnel, we need to make sure we are playing our players in the right positions. Sutcliffe needs to play in defence and not on a wing - he was very accountable last year and I also read today he had the second best kick rating of a general defender after Birchall in 2015. Alex Pearce is a lock and will be useful as West Coast will stack their forward line with talls at stages (Kennedy, McGovern, Darling, Lycett/Naitanui). Johnson, Dawson, Spurr and Ibbo are our best defenders and should keep their spots. Johnson, Ibbo and Sutcliffe should be responsible for transitioning the ball out of defence effectively. Random stat: Ibbo launched six more scores from defensive 50 than any other Docker last year - he had a massive impact on games and we need him to get back to that form.

To be competitive against West Coast I think our midfield is the key though. Fyfe, Mundy, Neale and Barlow should all be playing most of their time in the middle imo. I think we've possibly been too focussed on attacking from stoppages and need to set up more defensively, and use our bigger bodies to win the contested ball first instead of trying to make clean burst clearances out of the middle every time (clearance differential is what will win us games!). We also need our best outside players lining up on the wing and not at half back (eg Hill). D.Pearce, Sheridan and Weller should also be made to be accountable to their respective outside opponents by applying constant pressure when we don't have the ball. In a nutshell, we need our midfield to get back to what it does best - contested football. General play is the place to be far more attacking, not stoppages.

I hope we stick with a smaller zippy forward line again (Walters, Langdon, Ballas, Weller), plus Pav, Fyfe (when not in the middle), Mayne (although if he struggles again a drop to WAFL might be the mental break he needs), and Alex Pearce (when swinging). Some argue Tabs is too good for WAFL but I think it is/will help his confidence - so still a couple more games there for him imo. Croz and Yarran need to fix whatever is holding them back, to be ready for selection in coming rounds as well. Some people seem to think you need x many talls to be potent scorers but the Dogs proved that wrong in round 1 against us, with just Boyd, a below average KPF @ 200cm, and Stringer, arguably the league's best medium forward atm @ 192cm. The rest are all under 185cm I think. The key to an effective small forward line working though is pressure. If all our small forwards are harassing the opposition on the rebound, it causes turnovers resulting in more scoring opportunities and impacts the effectiveness of the opposition getting the ball out (giving our defenders a decent chance at the other end - something that hasn't happened in the first two rounds). Won't work if only one or two are doing it though.

Wouldn't mind seeing Tucker debut but not sure who comes out for him. I'd probably give Clancee, Suban etc one more round to find some form.

I agree with most of what you say. I think DeBoer MUST come in. We need his grunt. I'd swap him for C.Pearce but let him take Barlows role. I want Tucker and Tabs to play but Ross hates more then 2 changes unless it's round 23.

What I want to see:
OUT: C.Pearce, Suban,
IN: DeBoer, Tucker. Even just C.Pearce with Deboer would be fine for me.

Possibly Tabs but he'd need to replace Pearce or Langdon essentially. Mayne get's one more week.

Yep I don't have a problem with those ins and outs but I'd switch them. DeBoer for Suban and Tucker for C.Pearce. Otherwise if you do one and not the other we have the inside vs outside balance wrong imo. I think Subes and Clancee might get another week to prove themselves though.

I like it, but not if Griffin is at CHF. If he plays he has to be a lot closer to goal I think as his lack of pace will hurt us less. Run off half back is the new black. Would rather see Mayne at CHF and Walters / Langdon on the flank and Griffin in a pocket. If Tabs plays he should play CHF.

Yes that is my preferred selections as well (4 young players in the team would be a stretch for RTB though - unless we are really embracing a mini rebuild). I also think that they may be thinking about bringing in a tall instead to combat WC height advantage in ruck and forward (but not if raining).

Good news sheriden is not injured like everybody said. Grey and croz definite starter for peel.
