WOULD love to see Tucker - one NAB game I saw and he is damn creative and good decision maker - just reminds me of jake lever from Adelaide.
He has the knack of being in free space a lot, a very Hawthorn like ability, but the key will be if that is because his man is in a dead space and he identifies that he can afford to run off OR if he just ran off and anything not going to plan will mean we have 5 defenders to cover 6 forwards and someone runs into an easy goal.

He'll learn when to go and when not to but that takes time in the big leagues.

Haven't read the rest of this thread, or any the reactionary threads on this board but here's my two cents for this week:

Go in unchanged. Last week wasn't a total disaster, we had lots of shots on goal, and lots of good entries into the 50. We also had lots of rubbish entries into the 50. Continue with the game style we are trying to develop which imo is world's different from last year. Pearce, Weller and Langdon were both good without being great and will need the continued game time to get that consistency. Taberner's and Mzungu's games in the WAFL were also not enough for me to make it back into the side. Tucker and Collins would be the only one's I would consider if at all.
I think there should still be at least 1 or 2 changes.

Out: Barlow (games gone past him)
In:Blakely if fit otherwise Tucker.

Possibly Grey for one of our plodders (suban, cpearce, even sutcliffe). His disposal will probably be equally as bad but his attack and speed will be good additions.

If Barlow continues to get games then I know the tank is on.

If he is only going to be used for stoppages at half forward then I agree with you.

We coughed up a lot of goals from stoppages, Barlow wasn't there.

Agree grey for me is the perfect temp solution ,if our game does not put blocking as important as last year. Suban need to unlearn non blocking role and learn new thing is a bit too much after being in the system for so long ( the old habit).

In: Tucker for hills role
Out : C.Pearce ,barlow,suban
Hills take C.Pearce place, grey take Barlow out. Ethan take suban place.

He cost us too many goals with his poor kicking in the midfield so Lyon hides him in the forwardline. He's too slow on the spread and the opposition players just run off him to create the extra man going forward.

People on here give Suban shit but at least he defends and spreads.

i don't think we have the cattle to play an attacking man on man game, with the result being more of a shootout. Would rather Ross develop a
hybrid of his gameplan with the attacking style now in vogue.
The old attack on the ball carrier, ball is missing, and the aggressive play gone,
Would like to see either Deboer, Grey play a Crowley role in the midfield, Collins, Silvagni in the backline with A pearce, all hardnuts,
If A Pearce is down back, Tabs must come in.
At least this team will fly the flag.

All players know that this is how the system works. You work hard in the WAFL Peel team so as to push your case for inclusion in the Freo team.

If he doesn't have the talent to make the change from WAFL to AFL then it won't happen for that reason.

If, however, he has ability it but isn't able to work through the system like everyone else, then it may well be that he "mentally" doesn't have it.
Well in that case why not send Mayne or Ballantyne back to the WAFL then? Granted Ballas kicked 3 goals, but he is far from his usual self and in a bit of poor form. Mayne just seems to get away with his average performances and like Ballas goes missing for a large chunks of games, and we all know that has been the case for the last 2 seasons. I'm all for finding form in the WAFL and playing well for the 2s but it's not a fair assessment when similar players escape the same scrutiny then Tabs gets.

I think you will see exactly this emerge once the boys start to understand how to attack and score quickly. We can't just mimic the good attacking teams, we have to develop the attacking flair to be competitive in a high scoring game, then integrate that into our fierce defensive patterns. Ross has refused to turn back to his defensive plan for the past two weeks even when we were bleeding, to me that augers well for the future because we can always add some defense back in.

If we still look rubbish in June I will be concerned - up to then I will just be angry and frustrated and hard to live with :)

All i know is the 1 game I saw him play i said who is this kid - boy he can play and is quick. He won me over in his first game-not many can do that.

Agreed. There is a reason he was talked up as a top 10 pick at the start of last year.

Barlow got the nice handball out to Fyfe for his snap goal but geez his disposal was ordinary. Cannot hit a low pass onto someones chest if he is kicking over 30 M.

This game is so vital to our season's prospects (for those who believe we still have prospects) that I'm a little worried Lyon may consider dropping Weller/Langdon. I really, really hope it doesn't happen but there's always a chance.

Going with the personal insults really suits you mike.
Where did i say give up on him? But hey, if it makes you believe more in your argument then good for you!
If you didn't quite notice but APearce and Fyfe played as key forward so there are options.
Taberner had 25 disposals and 2.3 for Peel on the weekend so the week off may have given him the kick up the arse he needed.
Earn your spot, this aint the under 15s...
Given the choice, You want Tabs back in the derby or Al Pearce in the derby as CHF/CHB?

If pace is our issue I can't see these guys getting dropped.

Out: D Pearce, Suban, C Pearce
In: Tucker, Hughes, Grey

Tucker is great kick and can play the rebounding role of halfback, Grey and Hughes are actually defenders instead of playing Sheridan and Sutty down back when they aren't defenders. Sheridan moves onto the wing, Barlow in the guts instead of Subes and Sutty can also play wing. Grey and Hughes might not be sensational kicks but they cant be as bad as some of the guys already in the team.
