People whining about Ballantynes on the ball play last week need to get a grip - he kicked 4 goals. 'oh but he's a deer in headlights and it's not just about goals.

Wrong. He is there to kick goals. He kicked 4.
I agree, if Ballas and Son Son can kick 2 or more each a game they have done their job.

I just can't see us winning this week. I actually think we are going to cop an almighty smashing and there is going to be some serious melting.
if you plot the melt curve from R1 then we are on a decline and while we may get a small peak after the WC smashing on the weekend, as Freo supporters many of us are simply reverting to the low expectations and general morose of yesteryear. I have already made my peace with AFL 2016 and am focusing on lowering my blood pressure for more important things like surfing trips to Bali next week:rainbow::rainbow::rainbow:

I think with the weather forecast that bringing Deboer in is a real possibility. As much as I would love to keep seeing Langdon and Weller playing I think that one of them may lose their spot this week because of the weather conditions. I can't imagine too many changes however.
I wouldn't mind seeing Pearce go back and playing in a key position which would then allow Johnson to play that sweeping role.
Al Pearce to take on the Coleman medalist?

Everyone hates the fact that the likes of Suban, De boer and Clancee getting games each week last season. Fair enough. Lyon knows they are cloggers but they at least last the 4 quarters. As much as It was great playing Weller, Langdon, Blakely etc last season. These guys are going from state league to AFL in 12 months. Not all 18 year old will dominate AFL instantly. It seems that Weller and Langdon have enough fuel to last the 4 quarters this season. That wasnt the case last season

My Changes

Out: New Midfield structures......Seriously how does the likes of Fyfe, Sandi, Mundy, Hill and Neale get smashed?!
Keep: Attacking mindset...... I think we need this to click, can't revert back to only defense
In: Better Skills.....Seriously D Pearce at 33% efficiency...Hill at ~50%, Pav missing set shots, Mundy at ~ 50%...these are all unheard of!! Last year we were ranked 3rd for disposal efficiency (at the end of last year it took a drop as well), now were almost last!!!!!!!!!

Hoping no injuries. I hope Sheridan is ok. The only thing that may happen is a defender change
Out: Clancee
In: Silvangi

Barlow won't be dropped but he should!! For the non-midfield role Barlow is having, i think Muzz Buzz is better at it.....Barlow took 9 minutes to get onto the field last week, Barlow's kicking efficiency it also at an all-time low of 44% AND he has only had 2 center clearances in the last 2 games....Not great.

I like to look at match ups.

WC's biggest threats are:

Kennedy - Dawson: Scary thought, given how Dawson went last week. Silvagni maybe?
Gaff - Head to head with Hill/D.Pearce??
Hurn - very important player for WC. He needs to be shut down. Job for de Boer?
Nic Nat - Sandi has a pretty good record against him but will need some help as they'll no doubt chop out with Lycett (which will give Sandi a spell)

Other key match ups

Darling - I'd back Sutcliffe in to do a number on him again.
Priddis - Head to head with Mundy who really needs a big game.
Makenzie - still working his way back into AA form, I am sure Pav is experienced enough to exploit this fact.

Minor match ups

Rookies vs Rookies: Nelson & Duggan vs Weller & Langdon - Good chance for our boys to really stamp their name on the game.

Really cannot afford to let spuds like Josh Hill and Jamie Bennell get off the leash either.

I really want Collins to come in for this one... Perfect darling or Kennedy matchup. Free up ibbotson, enabling the flow forward more of Sheridan and sutcliffe hopefully. Clancee to come out for him.

Weller got 12 disposals on the weekend, Langdon got 13. Whether their tank needs building or not, they're already providing an output similar to Suban's career average in their first games. Give them another 2 weeks and they will have surpassed him.

On your period?

So what was your emoji before representing? Honestly telling me you weren't trying to mock me?
Camp 'Ross knows best and can do no wrong' I see, wake the up, hes made plenty of mistakes, still a great coach, but guess what, A. Pearce is a defender.

I will, because it proves my point.

Nah, you're a touchy little twat mate.

On my period, classic stuff :straining:

I wasnt mocking you, i was laughing at you! :drunk:

I dont give a shit how much more you know than Ross, because clearly you do, my point was that he must know something by now! Of course APearce is a defender, does that mean he cant play forward, especially when the there is Dawson, Johnson and Ibbotson already back there?

It proves your point, LOL  They have at one stage or another proven themselves, it may have been 2 or 3 years ago but never the less they have and at there best would be a threat in this team! Where as Taberner has proven absolutely nothing, not a thing!!!

Yes, i am, and what

I'm tipping one change for wc game. Matt deBoer in for either Clancee or MickyB.
I think the rate of new young blood coming into the side is about to slow down until Bennell, Morabito and Yarran are fit.

DeBoer replacing Clancee would make sense, must admit we could do with his hardness around the ball at the moment. Just keep him away from the forward line and he can be very effective (I am also ok with him replacing Suban).

Admittedly I have only seen Hughes play against Port last year, where he was pretty good I thought, is his kicking really that bad?

Would love to see his marking ability in our backline - goes hard at a contest too. Get those skills up Hughes there is a place for you in this team.

Crozier also mentioned as being in the mix for this week.

Out: Suban
In: Mzungu

Put Barlow in the middle again, and Gu at half-forward. That'd be ok for me.
If Gu plays he should play forward. He is a great contested mark and is also a reasonable kick for goal. Also means his occasionally poor field kicking doesn't impact as much as if he was playing down back. Would much rather give up the ball in our forward 50 than back 50.

Crozier's the one I find really interesting. Signed a contract extension late last year, and hasn't featured in the seniors at all since. He should be coming in to replace Mayne but still hasn't been able to impress the coaching staff. Is he a chance for the derby after last week?

His stats indicate an ok performance for Peel last week coming back from a concussion.
It probably isn't enough for Ross but I would love to see it.
Chris Mayne is a massive problem for us.

Has a beautiful set shot and very quick hands. Always seems to be trailing his defender inside the forward 50 though. Given he's coming off concussion I think they'll keep him in the WAFL a bit longer

If MDB can play every week like the final against Hawks last year, il be more than happy. He was a beast in that game, best game he's played I reckon.
