I'm not sure of his value at all. He rarely wins a one on one these days, and can't handle the ball full stop. Sure he could hide, when Mcpharlin was around, but now he is borderline comical. The whole Suns game, all 3 commentators where continually critical of almost everything he did, and question his value in the team.
I'll be the first to admit, I used to like him in the team.

You should get to the game . TV coverage and commentators give a false impression of whats happening. Dawson was our best defender one game ago. Short memories seem to be a problem on here.

Being very ordinary might be part of the reason.

Ah. I guess I haven't seen him at Peel and just going by his previous AFL form. At his best he provides the right kind of mongrel and tenacity if not agility... he's typically got a good awareness of the ball like Johnson (and unlike some of his peers).

Grey got hyped a bit but I think Sutcliffe and Sheridan might still have the wood over him at this point. Ross and co. get that there need to be wholesale changes tempered with a solid desire to try and win games. This week I feel they've done the best they could... we may have to wait at least 2-3 weeks for any form talent to makes its way into the arena.

Silva just can't catch a break - always injured at the wrong time.
Would of felt much better with him on darling than sutcliffe.
Be interesting to see how we shuffle the decks, MDB ain't no half back flanker

I haven't watched the GC replay but Doro on the radio was ripping into Dawson all game, from memory I thought he was poor but not quite that bad.

He's not much of anything if we're being honest. Half decent tagger I suppose...it'll be interesting to see what role he plays.

Agree before I went to training watch , I had the same perception about Dawson, he is the least worried we had right now.

De Boer isn't getting any better nor does he have the Strengths we need...
Skills and/or goal kicking.

While Crozier hasn't set the world on for he can kick a goal over a jam tin and has neat skills.
Tucker has very nice skills and could've used the experience.

Brady Grey could also have been used.

I see no benefit in playing a guy on a one year contract who isn't up to it

I think he will play middle of the park, stop the bleeding before ball going near to our defensive 50.

Who else was available to come in? Outside of Silvagni and Mzungu Tucker was always going to be a gamble and Crozier/Hughes not ready.

This.
Take Silvagni and Hughes out who are unavailable, what are you left with?

De Boer, Griff and Mz. The selection makes sense IMO.

Next week for Tucker, in front of his family over there.

Tucker, Crozier and Brady Grey.

Would take any of them in preference to DeBoer

Crozier has been given a fair amount of opportunities but done bugger all, needs to really earn an opportunity this time for mine.

As Sting Bitten said, too much of a risk to bring Tucker in for a Derby and Crozier isn't ready. Grey and De Boer are like for like, almost identical in what they bring to the table (maybe Grey is smarter) but De Boer has the experience which probably got him across the line for a Derby.

MDB marks, 30 metres out straight in front...Scores level.....2 seconds to go............................Doesnt even make the distance enough for it to be punched through! Its a re-occurring nightmare I have :(!!
Other than that, happy no major changes...Glad the young blokes kept their spots, they will be better for the "Derby experience".

What risk?

No different to the week after...
More risk of my head exploding watching Matty drop a goal short from 35

All this guy men tion don't had derby experience, will be bad to their confidence and development if their skill are been greatly exposed in derby . I think Langdon, Weller ,a.Pearce is good enough for this match.

Ross will probably play DeBoer in the guts, along with Barlow, Neale and Suban to free up / protect Mundy, Hill, Fyfe etc. He (and Barlow) are ideally suited to the role of getting in and ball extraction. May also use him to run with an opposition mid like Shuey.

I would love Tucker to come in, but if Sat weather is stormy and rainy deboer is the guy .

Spot on .

Nah sorry De Boer is a potato and will be delisted at the end of the year.

Crozier can hit greater heights.
Yeah sure he could be great on pure talent but Crozier has been given quite a few games at AFL level and done close to jack shit in many of them, I actually want to try and win the game. He's gone past being gifted a game just because he's young for mine has to actually deserve it this time.
