None of those Freo players are their prime movers though. Its almost a comparable list to Mackenzie, Jetta, Hutchings, Butler, Schofield and Sheed being dropped its just we have older guys to replace them
Sure, but Freo's strength is in their midfield - Fyfe, Neale and Mundy. They're not going to drop those guys because they're Freo's key players and the ones that they can rely on week in week out. It just so happens it's the area of greatest weakness for us, and as such, is the area we need to shake things up to see what results it produces.

So, dropping Priddis/Masten/Redden/Hill/LeCras/Butler will drop 1,046 games of experience but they're not the guys carrying us this year. We're getting that from JK/Gov/Shuey/Yeo etc.

And as I mentioned, I think it's more the impact of making a move like that, and what it can do to the rest of the guys that keep their spot. The message is loud and clear - perform now, or you're going to be playing at East Perth next week.

Taking out about 750 games of experience and replacing it with about 60 games, all but one of which is provided by Giles. Seems a bit drastic.

And taking out four smalls for three smalls and Giles just makes us taller and slower.
but if the 750 games are shit what of it

Revised changes.
In: Giles Karpany Cole Mutimer Mitchell
Out: Schofield Cripps Nelson Butler Redden
Not happen though, can't expect them to make 5 changes, including 3 young/inexperienced players for a derby...

Jetta and/or Hutchings are probably likely to come in for "experience".
Might be something like this instead... :$
In: Giles Jetta Hutchings Mitchell
Out: Schofield Cripps Nelson Duggan

New Ins and Outs after the s**tty news today. With Jacko and Crippa out, there goes what little physicality we have in this 22.

Out: Nelson (INJ):'(, Cripps (INJ), Redden, Masten

In: Mutimer, Mitchell (Fingers Crossed), Giles, Karpany / Lamb - lets just see what either can do with better players around them.

If Gaff and Shep don't get up then Masten will stay and maybe Jetta / Hutchings will come in.

Can't wait until after the bye, we'll get Lycett and Nelson back, hopefully Venables, Rioli, Parto & Watson will all be pushing for a debut and Cole forcing his way in for another game. Enough of this stale 22.

Out: Cripps(inj), Nelson(inj), Gaff(?)
In: Mutimer, Giles, Hutchings(?)

Don't think we'll be dropping any, the derby is a chance to respond for now. Alarms may start to ring selection-wise if we go down.

Has anyone else noticed that there seems to be a kind of hesitance for our players to have a crack at the goals from the 50 or just outside the 50? I noticed that instead of taking players on and having a go they seem to hesitate and try to kick to a leading player who is often double teamed. Is this a game plan or coaching issue? It would take the load off JK if the mids and flankers had more shots and I'd take a behind instead of a turnover - fast break - goal.

Sounds like a bit of Jamie Graham magic ... forward line not working as well as it used to.

I'd be interested what people in the know (Monocle, Keys, BOND) think of him as a coach, especially after his successful stint at EP last year...

They will probably add Mackenzie... this will not help us. Would like to see Francis Watson selected, he is quick, great ball skills and does not panic like some of the current players do. Hope Sammy Mitchell is ok to play

He's missed the last two East Perth games, was in a moonboot at the most recent one and has reportedly flown back up north.

Cripps and Nelson out is a big loss for us as their pace in the contest and willingness to take the game on is severely lacking in the rest of our team at the moment. Time to bring in the kids and see what we got as we have **** all chance of winning a flag with this list this year.

Karpany for Cripps makes sense. Cripps plays mostly as hff these day and acts as a connector. Karpany tends to play his best footy as hff and has the skill/police combo as well as a tiny bit of speed to play this week. I can't see hill or lecca directly replacing Cripps as both have show that they're are better deep in the forwardline.

I dunno if Vardy should keep getting games but he got completely dominated by Ben McEvoy, who isn't exactly an elite AFL ruck. I don't think Giles is much better but at this point I trust him to hold his own in the ruck more than Vardy.

Giles is a ruckman, Vardy is a key position forward. I feel for Vardy having to play a role he probably is not comfortable in.

Officer Karpany reporting for duty.

A lot of the guys would struggle to kick the distance - Masten, Priddis, Hutchings, and Mitchell are not known for their length. Yeo tends to spray it. Sheed, Duggan, and Redden are unknowns. Jetta doesn't care. Shep and Wellingham would take a ping if they got it on a run. Bunga appears to be gun shy because the crowd goes nuts when he is in range and he wants to do the team thing. Boots is about the only bloke who can kick these sorts of goals but elects for the pass more often.

Out: Patience for the match committee
In: Vitriolic, white-hot rage at their continued uselessness

There's a massive difference in the mindset between Fremantle and us. The people-eaters are clearly expected by the board, the media, and most of their supporters to not make the finals, and not be a contender which allows them to basically do as they like with their selection process as long as they give the impression they are not doing the 'T' word.

West Coast on the other hand are expected to make the finals, and by some pundits were premeirship favourites. This means that if the selection committee are far more liberal in swinging the axe, they are absolutely going to cop is from all angles if it does not come off. Let's go extreme and say Parto gets picked over Priddis for the remainder of the season. Lets say Priddis murders the WAFL with continual 30+ handball games, and Parto plays like a rookie in the AFL and averages 12 touches, and the team misses the finals on percentage.

The media will go nuts, particularly in WA, regardless if this benefits the club in the long run. And some bloke is going to lose his job because he's got a KPI relating to team performance. If I'm that guy I pick Priddis and keep my job, until perception changes and the club's management accepts that the highly paid fan favourite players are not going to take the team to the premiership.

What we should be expecting from teh club is persistance with the younger players over the fringe which keeps getting recycled - Hutchings, Jetta as examples. The send a message should be going to Masten types who barely miss a game unless injured, who at 27 should be prime movers, but aren't. Those types are the Suban-esque dead weight we're carrying.

Out: Cripps, Nelson, Duggan, Redden & Barrass (any other young guy or new guy that came to the team while it was already serving up that stuff)
In: Hutchings, Mackenzie, Giles, Jetta (to be the first to go if team underperforms and several senior players show as much heart as he does like its his fault)...I don't know can we get Mitch Brown back for a forward pocket come KPD role?

Untouchables from last week (or any other week for that matter you may as well chisel their names into the stone for the 22) : Priddis, Masten & Lecras

Honestly you people... this is no time to throw the baby out with the bathwater!

-Priddis, Mitchell, Butler and Lecras to get a send off game each.. then not play another game for the club.
-Masten, Redden, Hill, Jetta gone as soon as they can clean out their lockers.
-New coaching staff (all of them), CEO and what that idiots name who built our list?.. him too
-Yeo, Duggan, Nelson (when fit) and Sheed to play on-ball all year

Geez what a bloodbath.

Assuming Shepp and Gaff get up but Mitchell doesn't.

Out: Cripps (ankle), Nelson (wrist), Barrass
In: Mutimer, Hutchings, Giles

B: Wellingham, Schofield, Yeo
HB: Hurn, McGovern, Sheppard
C: Gaff, Priddis, Duggan
HF: Hill, Darling, Hutchings
F: LeCras, Kennedy, Vardy
R: Naitanui, Shuey, Sheed
I: Butler, Redden, Masten, Mutimer
E: Barrass, Karpany, Lamb (held over)

Barrass out for team balance, Gov goes back and Giles comes back in to help out in the ruck.

Other changes are forced. Wellingham back into the backline to replace Nelson. Mutimer and Hutch to both play forward with stints in the middle. Redden gets a reprieve.

Partington would probably have been close if he handed been caught up in the injury curse.
Happy with selecting on balance and the fact is that Freo are not tall up front so one of the KPD to miss out. That said, what are you thinking with Barrass out? Surely it is a typo and you meant Schofield out? I would be happy to hear why when the body of work for Schofield this year has been underwhelming.
