Marsdo and SwellingHam are starting on the bench. I'm sure they're cut deep. Team is on notice
Masten has been named on the bench every week this season (maybe bar 1) and Wellingham has been much the same. They pretty much always start on the ground too.

Not sure why to be honest.

Duggan was just disappointing

It's funny how people see things differently and not having a crack at all as I get why people could have that view but I thought Duggan was very good in the first quarter. Thereafter, he still kept having a crack but little he did went right. But I still felt he was giving it his all and with others, I didn't get that feeling. Personally, I think he needs games at the highest level to get confidence and used to the speed and we will start to see growth. I know you weren't suggesting he be dropped but just my prediction.

He's nippy but not outright quick. Moves well in traffic and has a neat side step. Disposal is usually neat although not a long quick

Not a strong tackler and isn't going to crash packs open with his build. Suffers the same affliction as many of his teammates in that he lacks genuine aggression

I'd be happier if he was getting more of the ball at WAFL - not against him getting a game at some stage but he's not knocking the door down
To my mind, Karpany would have been a reasonable 'in' if the mc decided to go that way. Apart from the attributes mentioned he can kick a good goal. I thought he went ok in his only game. Surely, they need to find out whether he is up to it or not after four years at EP. Must get boring playing there after a while. He is a much better player than when he first arrived.

Masten is beginning to really annoy me. When the heat is on he melts. Simpson appears very loathe to drop him and Lecras (and others) although Hutchings omission shows that perhaps the wheel is starting to turn albeit very slowly.

Good thing we don't overreact to a loss on this board.
This board usually doesn't (excluding myself) which indicates how significant the loss was I think. We've seen the same things happening with the same group of players and it's become extremely frustrating, concerning and perplexing that nothing has really changed to try to address the issue.

I think the reaction is warranted. When people on FB even start to meltdown after a loss you know there's definitely a major problem that even they can see it now.

Exactly. It gives me the shits when say people are overreacting to a loss. Its not that one loss that people are reacting too, its the fact that the same team has been picked and the same result has been happening for years with very little seemingly being done by the club to change things that pisses people off.

Well that's why it doubly sucks that we've had the injuries we have. I think everyone wants to know how Simmo would have reacted to the loss on the weekend and we'll never really get that chance. I think if we had anyone who was truly worthy of a spot in the WAFL Simmo would've found a 'big name' to drop. The fact is, there's just no one else who deserves his spot right now.

But that youth in the reserves. Dear me, it is a nightmare.
Always the new school of thought that players play better with better players around them. That is Parto and Karps may play better with Shuey / Priddis than Steven Payne / Shayne Hille (I literally have no idea who plays where at EP).

We've f***ing had it with losing to the Hawks (& Collingwood) at the MCG in particular.

You complain about the same thing being done and the same team being picked, then call for them to bring Hutchings back into the team for the umpteenth in the next breath.

I dont think ive said that i necessarily wanted him in for this round, but if i had the choice of Hutchings or Redden in the side, i'd pick Hutch every time. If i had my choice i'd have brought in Mitchell, Karpany, Mutimer for this round and play the youth every chance we get because this bunch of old crew aint gonna win a flag.

Relax Mr Hutchings.

so we lose a forward and back line player through injuries and replace them with Mitchell and a new comer. why not pick karpany for like to like change over cripps.

Wow - reading some of the posts here makes me think we have attracted a bunch of self igniting petticoats to the board.

If there is something structurally wrong at the club, please let's address it. Our list is good but not great and the list of "not available" for the MC this week is making out best 22 look more like a best 32 with 10 in the stands.

I actually believe there are some hard questions that need to be asked of the list but I believe the hardest of questions should be levelled at the CEO. I believe the off-field boy's club is where the real concerns lay and until we address it and fix it, we will be competitive, we will fill Domain (and probably Burswood), we will be financial secure, we will move into Lathlain Park with great facilities but we will not win a flag.

So, back to game day and I think the changes are OK - albeit restricted by a long injury list.

The Ins:
Glad we bring up Mutes to give a chance (I hope it is for a couple of weeks)
Giles is required to help Cardy with Big Sandy. Our midfield are not capable of roving to a severly beaten ruck
Glad Jetta is not being the yoyo - find that form at EP or the future is not great for him
Based on games I saw with EP - Karpany is not the answer and Lamb is not close to AFL standard
As stated by people who have also seen EP play, the liked of Rotham, Gorter, etc are not even close

The Out (only 1 unforced):
Schofield for 2 reasons - structure and form. Not sure of his contract status but he too looks to be only depth

The Lucky:
Redden
Hill
Le Cras
Sheed
Duggan
Wellingham

Sad story but it reflects the reality. That said, the team selected should be capable of beating Freo and it will be a good test of the flat trackers. A loss would feel like NZ Black Caps beating us in a Boxing Day Test. Ouch.

We had 9 defenders In the side last week with Gov, tb, schoey, bunga, buttsex, Weller's, yeo, shep and the munts. That's too many defenders so we have cut a few back and moved the defenders who played alternative positions back. Karpany selection would have been nice but his form doesn't warrant him to surpass mutimer.

Karpany isnt really similar to Cripps. We also have Wellingham floating around that can go back

Weller's will probably play forward and back. Mitchell might play off the back flank.
