Strategy Changes for final Subi game v Crows

The MC has proven themselves far too risk-averse even when our finals chances are pretty much zero.
Yeah I mentioned a while back that we will only go true development mode when we are mathematically out of the race.

I swear it must be a club policy or something

I've tried to keep a level head about the selection choices we've made this year, but this is a deadset gutless effort from the match committee.

Pitiful.

No point naming Waterman for the last game and not playing him.

Totally stupid.
Smh at Simpson he's ****ed in the head.

Mate, if we go too far the other way, we could miss finals or something.

What's so bad about the changes?

Granted, they are uninspired, but we've seen far worse this season.

They're probably waiting till they know we can't possibly make it before they play the kids.

If we can't make it Out: Lecras (Sore ) In: Waterman.

We got a pretty good chance of rolling Adelaide now that their best player is out (Greenwood).

Because we're in an unequivocally nothing to lose situation.
Because we've got virtually no chance of making finals, we should be using this game to give some of the kids some experience

Well, there's still a chance we can make finals, and leaving Waterman out for the last game of 2017 is far from the worst thing we've done this season.

I don't have very high expectations though.

It's not leaving out Waterman in isolation that's the problem for me, it's how few young players we have in the team and our continued reluctance to play them.

Interesting that both Hawthorn and the Bulldogs have debutants tonight. When interviewed, guys from both teams mentioned that, whilst they are celebrating their retiring champions, there is a future focus with the first gamers. And the Bulldogs still have a (slim) chance to make finals.

It is such a pity our MC is so set in it's ways.

I just think we've got some very unintelligent people involved in many facets of our club. There's a mountain of evidence piling up that these people have no idea what they're doing.

I don't think there's any need to be upset about that now. It's the last game of the season, no point fixing things this late.

Did you just read the post above about the Bulldogs and Hawthorn having two debutants tonight? We're the most short-sighted club in the league and there's plenty of reasons to give a few extra young guys a game of experience this weekend.

Well I guess next year we'll have the most debutants in the league
Rioli, Venables & Waterman should be certainties. Watson a good possibility. Allen will need to remain injury free first of all before he can even push for selection. If Snadden keeps on improving, a debut could be a possiblity later in the season. Not sure about Rotham yet, might take a while to develop. If we're lucky, maybe at least 1 of this year's draftees could debut as well...

Yes I'd like to think T Kelly and L Ryan could make a case ;)

The coach is "****ed in the head" because he didn't pick a debutant who is coming off a foot injury against the top of the ladder team, in a game which may determine whether we play finals? Seriously?

I wouldn't mind him playing, but it is pretty obvious that naming him as an emergency/extended bench is basically a "keep up the good work" gesture from the match committee. Quite logical, and certainly doesn't indicate that the coach is messed up in the head. Not sure anyone can say the same for you though.

I wouldn't bet on it
I think we will

Simmo has publicly stated the side will look much different in 2018.

Good luck to JJK for he back2back2back, that is all I give a **** about really.

Look, I agree with you for the most part, I just don't think it's worth getting upset about this late in the season.

I honestly believe it is a mistake to not debut Waterman if he is so close.

It would add another element entirely to his pre-season - and hence his prep for next year. He would either gain lots of confidence and/or identify areas to work on to be a consistent AFL player.

He would approach pre-season as an AFL player, not just a hopeful, and it would change his mindset entirely.

Laughable from a bottle that doesn't know what liquid is in it.

Simpsons ****ed in the head for many reasons. Naming a debutant for the last game when he has no intentions of playing him and knows the stakes in the game being the least of the reasons.

Actually thinking we are a realistic chance to make the finals and make any impression deep into September is another reason. He may as well play Waterman for some valuable experience and reward for effort and good form.
