Okay team for the final

Shepard Mcgovern Schofield
Hurn Barras Wellingham
Masten Shuey Gaff
Cripps Darling Lecras
Hill Kennedy Jetta
Lycett Prddis Sheed

Yeo, Hutchings, Butler, Giles

Hills role has changed imo. Throughout the year he spent a fair amount of time on the wing and would regularly pop up in defence to help out.

Last 4 weeks he's been poor though, it's almost like he's been told to stay closer to home, hasn't roamed around as much getting involved.

I'm not worried by his goal output compared to last year, he's played well for the majority of 2016.
Agreed. His role has changed during the year. I think it's more noticeable since Sheed has come back. He and Cripps seem to be more forward of the ball now. He may be taking some time to adjust to that role. His game agaisnt the Hawsk was poor. I didn't think he was bad against the Crows, did chase and harrass and pressure a fair bit. Also, noticed he worked hard forward to be thereabouts at marking contests but we either marked it or the ball spilled away from him. For me the critical aspect is that he was at least at the contest.

Stats arent everything. He is a very clever footballer, I think that in itself precludes the notion that Yeo can play his role.

Hill does a fair few unobtrusive things, even when he's down on form. The commentators missed a sublime tap on for a goal to Darling against the Hawks (it was a bit quick for them), and he does play his role in the game plan.

Very astute pick up Fatty. I saw that and was trying to Work out which qtr of the game it was in to reference it here. Very clever Play. Knew he was going to get spoilt, didn't try to take posession but saw Darling coming at him and dropped/tapped it on to his path. Won't get a stat for that, but it was most definitely a goal assist.

No changes if possible the week off should be good for the sore boys .

Darling and Lecras needs to put in a lot of extra work on their goal kicking .Jack could quite easily have lost us the game v Adel and needs to be more professional about his business which is kicking goals .

In light of the 2 weeks Tunbridge got for his sling tackle it was interesting to see Naismith get a $1000 fine only for a spear tackle on houli- picked him up off the ground and then slammed him into the ground from height well after he'd disposed of the ball. But no injury, could easily have been, so no suspension
Rioli got away with a similar tackle a few weeks ago. The 'bar' had been set

Bulldogs will know that they will get a bunch of players back the week after if they beat us.

They'll give it everything they've got and have a lot of leadership even without Murphy/Wood. I ain't going to be confident til we are 6 goals ahead in the last.

Its a knockout final, they will do this regardless.
Feel like people are assuming the players have already written their season off and will put up an effort like they did against Freo.

They are still able to cause some damage with their outs and hopefully our guys aren't already planning for the weekend after

Who takes Stringer when he comes back?

Do we trust the same zone system? Can't see Bulldogs bombing it long like Adelaide did, as they have no tall targets, so they'll probably try to run the ball I50 as much as possible. Hopefully our structures hold up

The club and it's players won't be.

The supporters however, different. We can dream.

To me the Bulldogs have got us a the wrong time at our home deck.

Pretty confident it will be a comfortable win.

If it was a the I'd be less confident, but would still think we'd get the win.

I know I'm jumping the gun and moving into the second week of the finals, but I really want Tunbridge back in to inflict more pain on the oppositions defence and create opportunities, not too many escape Tunbridge tackles, unlike LeCras and Hill who do play too their own strengths, but tackling is not one of them.
I think Tunbtidge is perfect for finals footy and will be fresh and raring to go!

Say we go in with last weeks 22 , this would be the finals experience we are heading in with:

Barrass (0) Schofield (8) Hurn (10)
Butler (14) Gov (3) Shep (3)

Hutchings (3) Priddis (9) Jetta (13)

Cripps (3) JK (8) Masten (7)
Giles (0) Darling (8) Lecra ( 8)

Lycett (0) Gaff (8) Shuey (8)

Sheed (3) Yeo (3) Wellingham (15) Hill (9)

135 in total.

Sheppard? Mobile, quick, good in the air, not bad below his knees. Stronger than he looks. Will need assistance obviously, but I think Sheppard can keep Stringer on a fairly tight leash and make make him more accountable going the other way too. Supply coming in will be the key.

I'll be honest. I'm nervous about Stringer. It's set up for him to come in and give Bevvo the big finger for dropping him, and he could do it too with a dozen touches.

He kicked a bag last time they played at Subi too

Wonder why those criticising Hills lack of goals kicked this year don't realise his role has changed. Amazing!!

Surprised that Wellingham has played 1 more final than Butler. Know Butts has had a few injuries over the years but taking into account he played during the finals when Judd/Cousins/Kerr/Cox were still playing and Wellingham would have played a few finals for Collingwood - would have thought that due to his age Butler would have played quite a few more finals games than Wellers.

There has been a flow on effect from our tweak to our ball movement. I feel like all three of Hill, LeCras and Cripps are playing less defensive side of the ball with LeCras playing further forward of Hill and Cripps. Both Hill and Cripps seem to make up part of the mosquito fleet moving the ball forward, while positioned forward (or to the side) of the ball. They're obviously going to have less opportunity to be on the end of the movement in this case. We're also loweing our eyes and hitting up targets more inside 50. And as a forward unit we're making much better bullshit leads opening things up for JK and JD and LeCras too.

What's Cripps' goal scoring been like in the last month? I'm just trying to remeber. Feels like his goals have been more opportunistic. I could be well off here but I certainly cbf going to the stats to prove or disprove this.

Does anybody know how Stringers form has been in the VFL?

Was poor till last week, with 22 and a goal.

He'll be a pain.

For the first qtr until the supply runs out.

Agree with this. Cripps has had way more inside 50s in the last few weeks, and has been delivering the ball well to players on the lead. Playing higher up the ground, so obviously, a few less goals.
