i dont think johns should be dropped.
that would be ****ing unfair, he did nothing wrong and is just learning to play in the backline and if lucas is out he could always come up forward.
give him a chance for gods sake!

And who do you think he'll man up on? Tarrant will lead him to the ball and he's no match for Pavlich. He's not up to it Im afraid and unless for some dramatic improvement next season, Id be tipping his time at Essendon will end in 08.

Dont bother brining back Hird this week. The finals are gone. Give him another week and let him play the two MCG games.

Agree.

I'd like to see us bring in Houli, Jetta and Dyson. Stants still doesn't look right so rest him. Drop Monfries. Drop Johns (Didn't think he was too bad but I only see a place for him in defence if Fletch or Mal are out).

i was watching the game todaay maybe u wernt coz i belive angus did play well today better then some of the other players considering we all played pretty shit! how do u expect angus to play brillanty when he only gets 5 minutes game time each quarter sometimes leaving him with only 9 touches! so how can u expcet him to do spectacular things in the time of 5 minutes! he has potential and just cant find his form but under a new coach he will be floruish! so shut the *** up!

be preety disappointing if the last few years on getting him ready and fit for AFL have all been a waste. i see some potential but i agree he needs to improve, bit hard with llyod and lucas for him to play in the forward line and his not exactly a backman.

Going by your username, I'd say you were a bit biased. But he played well in the first qtr, and then had a stragem matchup when he was on Ben Dixon. Given it was his first AFL match playing in defense, and Hawthorn had 62 I50's, he did OK.

But he will probably be dropped. We needed the extra tall defender for Hawthorn. We wont need it for Freo.

What hope does he have then? Unless Lucas or Lloyd are injured long term, Johns has no choice but to add another dimension to his game.

How are the finals gone?

We're half a game out with 4 games to go. We could be in the 8 at the end of this round if we win this week against the Dockers, with games against the two worst teams coming in the two weeks after that.

I accept the odds are agaisnt us making the finals, but to not play Hird (if he is fit) just so you can give him a send-off in the two MCG games, when we are sitting half a win behind 8th is madness.

We need him this week, because it gives us a better chance of winning, and therefore a better chance of making the finals, which are very much alive.

yeah true, but llyod and lucas are getting old and really inconsistent lately.
so it would be handy to keep him, but yeah hopefully he develops in the backline

7 possessions, 1 mark. Basically his season average.
He was actually our 2nd lowest possession winner on the ground behind Rama.

Just brilliant stuff from our 2004 first round draft pick.

Dean Dick- King hit apparently, Facial injury. Wait and see

Sam Lonergan- grade 2 medial ligament, Season over

reckon he will be gone at the end of the season?
i would have liked to see him make his debut atleast i hate when essendon do this its like austin lucy all over again. he playes well for bendigo too argh.

it doesnt matter how many times he touches it its wat he does with the ball.
his only young and his learning.
hopefully after a good preseason he will gain his form and be ready for next season.

after watching sheedy's press conference he made the following pretty clear:

rama won't play this week
mj is at the crossroads
hirdy probably won't play
lucas is quote "sore"
gumby will come in
dyson will come in
we will see a couple of players who haven't played much
add that to the houli's BOG and reimers being in the best in the vfl reserves and i think we end up with

in: gumby, dyson, houli, reimers
out: rama, cj, mj, gus

youth and pace in for old, slow or enough chances, excusing rama for obvious reasons

This is his third season.

I am not seeing any improvement in him. In actual fact he's going backwards.
By the way, he doesn't do much with the ball when he touches it either.

I think your ins and outs are pretty close. Does MJ at the crossroads mean he will be dropped? I don't think Lucas will get up next week (MJ gets another chance maybe?)

i reckon mj has had enough chances, and with slats probably picking up farmer, i can't see a good matchup for him in defence

i reckon they will play lucas even if he is still not right as this week will be the last roll of the dice. if we lose against freo scotty would then probably sit the remainder of the year out. that is if his injury is as serious as some think
