target man is unavailable this weekend. so who wants to do the target job v cats.

the suns have beaten the cats at home before and can do it again. it will be ugly as the cats fans are rapidly turning into egoheaded colliwoble style supporters. they need deflaiting.

Have I missed something? lol

Looks like Jack Martin is playing. Big article in the Courier-Mail about it today. I'm a little hesitant with bringing him straight into the seniors, but he's apparently done a huge power of work. I'd say he comes in for Aaron Hall.

Why risk him, I don't understand this.

I guess the argument is, is there any risk?

If his shoulder is 100% right and he's 100% fit in terms of running, there is no risk right? He'd be just as much risk playing NEAFL.

i hope caddy plays.

Unlikely, he has played one game in the VFL after returning from a six week injury layoff.

We have been conservative with players returning from injury this season. Motlop and Christensen are both walk up starts in our best 15 players but both played two VFL games before being considered for selection (Christensen will make his senior debut this week).

If Jack Martin comes back I will be uncontainably excited. Albeit a little worried but I trust the medicos.

I think they are less interested in running players through the NEAFL this year due to the low quality of the games.

I hear what your saying but he has no match fitness, fatigued bodies get injured.

I could see him as the sub and only bring him in for a quarter, I guess we will wait and see

One might argue that there is not much match fitness to be gained in the NEAFL either given the huge quality difference atm.

From what I understand he's been running since just post-surgery, so he'd have plenty of miles in the legs. As TJB mentioned, he's not going to get any extra fitness at NEAFL level where he just cruises around in second gear.

If he is being considered, I'm also not sure if it will be as a sub. Bluey talked about how it was a bad idea to bring in people (Karmichael) just to be the sub, as it doesn't take into consideration injuries and such. So if he is being considered, there must be confidence that he has the ability to play the full game. Maybe not a lot of midfield minutes, but a full game nonetheless.

I would be more than happy to have him plonked in the forward pocket and told to do as he pleases as long as he pressures and chases (not that we would have to tell him to). Let him roam up the ground if he feels he needs to. He is a smart player.

He will make a massive difference to our forward line. He has every single element we lack down there at the moment. Pressure and decision making being the main two. Then do not forget the absolutely freakish shit this kid can do. Not saying our forward line is that dysfunctional at the moment... it is actually decent but you can never stop improving it. Given Hall's form his addition makes sense. He could even just rotate with Matera and share the load playing deep/up the ground.

He is ~187cm and can play like he is 170cm crumbing and 195cm marking. Watch this kid tear most defenders a new one.

If he does play, I wouldn't expect much at all in terms of the freaky stuff. He'll have the fitness, just not the touch.

That still gives him the ability to chase and tackle, which is all I would want from him. Any offensive stuff would be a pure bonus.

Don't doubt Jack. I would not be surprised to see him do something outrageous in his first game back.

Obviously expectations are much lower but this kid is super special.

Pardon my intrusion. Caddy was one of the best in the Cats' VFL win but I don't think he'll be named. Alan Christensen is a definite inclusion according to Chris Scott

If Jack Martin get the ok from the doc today then he will definitely play this weekend vs the cats. And there's no neafl game this weekend because of the Representative Games

I dont see a problem with rushing Jack back. It's not like he's recovering from a soft tissue injury. If he was to re-injure his shoulder this weekend he would have re-injured it in the NEAFL. If fitness is a concern then they'll probably plan for him to be subbed off in the 4th rather than start as the sub.

Thought Kade needed a rest even last week to freshen him up, so definitely needs one now. (Lemmens in).
I'm super confident this week against Geelong. $3.30 under 39.5 points is an early Xmas present.
If Caddy plays, then bring Hunt back in...... then again Caddy jumps at his own shadow, no need.

24 touches and 7 tackles in the NEAFL for Lonergan... possible he comes in maybe!

Important for Lonergan too is that he competed the whole game and really ran it out well. Now has the fitness and touch in his game.

He and Martin will add significant pressure from up the ground. Martin up forward, Jesse in the middle.

At this stage I would go,

OUT: Sexton, Hall
IN: Lonergan, Martin
