Changes for Geelong

But Presti's not in the side.

We get a shit load of defensive rebound. I think we can settle with the fact Brown's opponent, which is usually the number 1 forward, is not getting the football.

Presti will be back because he is the better shut down defender. If Brownie gets more of the ball then he may be more valuable to to the team.

I agree that Presti and Brown should not play in the same side especially with the emergence of Reid.

But Brown is never going to win a lot of footy, it's not his go. He is a good defensive stopper on big players, that is it.

Davis needs a spell, if Medhurst if fit, he should be the one going out. Defensive pressure isn't enough to keep him in anymore.

JA doesn't deserve to be dropped on that performance, I can remember 3 goals that resulted pretty much directly from his work. Defensive pressure was top notch.

Throwing out O'Bree for a game against Geelong is like keeping Ball on the pine for the last quarter of a grand final..... you just dont do it.

The cheese meister was a good player tonight. I think Davis probably deserves a boot but if you dont give him the opportunity to play against Geelong next week, then you'll have to forget about him at finals time.

Harry wasnt at his best tonight...but he has to stay....

in Medhurst
out Anthony

Selection this week will be interesting, like to see Presti back but that would mean N Brown out, i think MM will leave the backline as is this week as Reid has been most impessive. MM will stick to his horses for courses theory and bring Presti back for Fevola, N Brown on J Brown and omit Reid for the Brisbane match not for form but horses for courses, Reid to come back in against dogs for N Brown as they dont have big power forwards.
Thoughts

Don't be surprised if Bally is rested. He looked quite banged up at the end of the game tonight. I can't see how anyone can play 22+ weeks of football like Bally does and still be able to walk at the end of it. And if he is rested, then O'Bree is locked in. Wellingham, if fit, takes up Bally's role.

As someone who lives in Sleepy Hollow, and most of his mates are cats members, the word around town is that Pods was dropped because they needed a crunbing forward in Stokes and Hawkins has been put on notice, tonights game against the Lions is the acid test for Hawkins against a depleted Lions defence.
If Hawkins fails then he is out and Pods will take his spot for the rest of the year form permitting ofcourse.
I dont think Geelong will go in with 3 talls regardless of what Hawkins does
so in saying that if Hawkins fails Pods comes back in we must play Presti
Goldsack will be a good player to put on Stokes, he has height and speed
and expect a much more defensive game.

In: either Presti or Goldy, Medhurst, Wellingham a must to play on Ablett
Out: Mcaffer, Anthony, Obree

I love Toovey's endeavour but his kickin hasnt improved whatsoever, is Goldsack named in the VFL?

His disposal efficiency is better than Chris Judd's at the moment.

My changes...

In - Wellingham (if fit), Medhurst (if fit), Fraser (ducks and hides)

Out - Macaffer, Anthony (if both above are fit), Wood

Why would you compare Toov's to a clanger king ? We strive for better standards at Collingwood.
In all seriousness as Kipz mentioned earlier , everytime Toov's has a ball in his hands your heart is in your mouth.

Tough one and will be unfortunate to see players go out.

I think we need Presti for Geelong. He is a level head down there and if Geelong happen to get a run on he will be solid.

Medhurst will come in if fit.

In - Presti, Medhurst, Wellingham

Out - Brown, Anthony, Macaffer

Apologies to all outs.

Couldn't agree more. Spot on.

IN: Wellingham, Dick (if fit, might need a few goes in the 2's) Skunk
OUT: N.Brown, McAffer (apologies) O'Bree

Does anyone else think that Jack and Skunk can play in the same forward line.
I just think that against Geelong you need all the scoring options you can get.

We need Presti - if for nothing else to play on PODS. He is the inform forward atm and has not been stopped yet. This will be a good test for him. We will also need Reid on Mooney - and if Hawkins plays shit this week he will be dropped. If not then Brown will need to play on him and show him how this game is played. IMO Hawkins is the most over rated KPF in the AFL. I don't think anyone from our backline is expendible atm so i would say if they play 3 talls, we will play 7 defenders.

I think Wellingham is in our best 22 if fit. Probably in our best 5-10 atm. He is a must if we want to expose geelong.

Make no mistake. A firing Geelong are 10x better than Freo and we need our best 22 on the park.

Davis needs more midfield time but wont get it until Dick is fit and ready to fill his role their. He is still a game breaker and is best 22. At very least he is ahead of anthony. Medders will also slot back if fit.

As for fraser and wood - i guess it really is horses for courses.. MM will rotate them according to form and fit in the side.

Therefore changes should be

In: Wellingham, Medhurst, Presti

Out: Macaffer, Anthony, Obree
(Caf and Obree have been playing well - I just don't think they are best 22 atm)

But i doubt Obree will go so more than likely one of either brown or reid will go - Reid seems to just pip brown at this stage.

For the record I can tell you that Pods was dropped because we have 3 games in 12 days and we're always conservative with first year players under those circumstances. He'll be right as rain for next week. Most Cats supporters, including me, agree with you about Hawkins, but knowing our coach, he probably won't be dropped. More of a debate next week will be whether we play a second ruckman, than whether we play 3 tall forwards, which we will.

Anyway, I just wanted to congratulate you guys on last night...I really enjoyed watching the game, in particular your pressure on the man with the ball. If you bring that next week it's going to be an awesome contest, I can't wait to see it.

This is the kind of game Presti is saved for I guess.

In: Presti, Wellingham
Out: Brown, O'Bree

Medhurst for Anthony depending on fitness I guess, not too worried whether or not that change happens or not.

It's very possible a few younger guys will start getting a rest soonish. Wouldn't be too shocked to see a Sidebottom given a week off soon.

This.

I agree, Wellingham, Medhurst and possibly Presti. O'Bree did well last night but Wellingham just looks sharper and the side looks more dangerous without O'Bree and Lockyer in it. It's sad to say that because they are both dead-set legends, but I would argue its better in the long-run if we stick with this arrangement. Gotta be cruel to be kind. Brown did well but isn't quite ready. Out Brown, O'Bree and Anthony. In Wellingham, Medhurst and Presti.

For mine it would be

* Brown out for Presti - Brown has been good but Presti is better

* O'Bree out for Wellingham - although Macaffer doesnt get as much of the ball as O'Bree, he uses the ball better, and performs better in contests, plus Wellingham we wont be down one inside player with Wellingham coming back

* Davis out for Medhurst - Davis has been terrible for the last 3 games, and not only is his disposal efficiency been bad, but also his decision making to try and kick snapshot goals from the boundary lines 40 metres out, instead of trying to kick to a team mates advantage, and total lack of generally doing the team thing has been deplorable.

All changes are for the same position/type players which wont mess with out favourite word of the month "structures" but are upgrades :)
