Pathetic effort by everyone bar Dawson, Neale, Weller (tried hard).

We are too slow and if our focus is on improving skills and ball movement we need to make an example of those who failed in these area's.

Outs: Clarke, Griff, Clancee, Barlow (love him but that was poor), Mzungu, Tabs.

Ins: Sandi, A Pearce (Fwd/back up ruck), Langdon, Silvagni, Tucker (skills are good from what I've seen), Collins (MJ if fit).

De Boer will likely come in and played well in the WAFL but his speed and skill clearly isn't at AFL standard.

Won't be that many changes but I think we need to look to the future as this crop won't get it done in today's AFL. Others like Mayne, D Pearce, Suban on the block too and could easily be replaced in the coming weeks.

Until we blood some young guys we'll never know how they will go at the next level. Blakely, Grey, Hughes should get opportunities too.

Sorry, but if anyone deserved to be dropped it was Weller. He was destroyed by the Bulldogs half back flankers. His fitness is below afl standard at the moment.

Alex peace is a moral adds flexibity back and forward is mobile enough take C.pearce's spot in backline. Hannath has had 2 very good game for Peel and along with sandi should replace Clarke(injured - if not back to peel) and giffen. Silva in for Muzungu. Ed Langdon in for Sutcliffe.

reprieve for barlow, spur(great intercept mark but butchers the ball), Suban,

In:
Sandi
Langdon
A Pearce
Blakey
Johnson

Out:
Clarke (inj)
C Pearce
Barlow
Griffin
Muzungo

Clarke is obvious, griffin can go too.
Sandi to ruck alone with chop out (poor option for us I know but works for other teams) by Zac D, tabs or A Pearce.
Langdon for Mz
Blakey for Barlow
Johnson for C Pearce - releases sutty to someone smaller
A Pearce for griffin for more versatility

I don't think this many changes will happen but wouldn't mind seeing it personally

I think I understand
1) not happy if silva been dropped today if not due to injuries
2) Weller play ok will still get some blame for it
3) Tab I think he is ok but when the ball in your forward 50 is few what do you expect
4) peel system of play also can't replace player straight in except for player such as Bennell or a.pearce
5) hope three amigo play more often in Afl , we might risk losing some afl game but for their long term future is worth it.

Sorry

Yeah let's drop a young player with skill and pace who played around 70% game time and went at 100% efficiency.

Understand he didn't get much of the ball but was pretty tough playing forward with terrible supply and a lack of entries. He atleast played with energy and tackled and chased hard in the toughest position in modern AFL. People expecting half fwds in Ross' game plan to get a heap of disposals are delusional...

So was everyones fitness for Freo
True, but Weller stood out to me as much as anyone and I was responding to a post about Weller at least had a go. I saw him multiple times struggling to keep up with a Bulldogs player. I know there were plenty of others in the same boat, but geez I thought Weller struggled massively today.

I know we had a stinker of a game but its says something when a young player with 5 touches including a gifted goal and some pressure acts is seen as having a good game.

Our half forwards were destroyed today and Weller was terrible. Yes he had friends, but Im not sure what you were watching if you didn't have him close to our worst today.

Lol, blame the kid who's played 4 games, Not our two defensive forwards who have played 150+ games.

Mayne - 0 goals, 0 tackles.
Weller - 1 goal, 4 tackles.

Not saying Weller had a good game but he wasn't liability like half our team was today.

5 touches at 100% and 4 tackles.

Mayne had 10 touches at 60% and 0 tackles.

Mayne has played 147 more AFL games than Weller.

Don't agree on Dawson. Usually I'm a big fan of his as he usually has Johnson and McPharlin to support, but his attack on the ball in that first half was dire and I think he could place our back half under serious issues in setting up and moving out quickly from the back half.

When you see our mids beaten you really see the weakness in our back half, with rushed kicks, poor efficiency and next to no run.

I was responding to a post about how Weller gave great effort. Mayne at least took a couple of marks. I also didn't see Mayne miles behind a rebounding player, which is what I saw with Weller today. Im not blaming the kid for the loss, but geez Im not sure what is wrong about saying he didn't give great effort.

Understand everyone has their own opinion but if we want to compete, we need players with speed and skill. Weller ticks both boxes and has a lot of development and potential in him. There are a lot who have played 5+ seasons and still can't hit targets and definitely aren't getting any faster who need to go.

That's true of every team though. We can't overstate enough how important Johnno is and McPharlin was either. Towards the end of the third quarter they had already more than doubled our inside 50 count, the defenders had no chance today.

Today also illustrates why Fyfe as a permanent forward would be a folly, with Fyfe down or injured and Barlow a shadow of his former self we can't rely on Mundy and Neale alone to give us dominance in the middle. Not even mentioning Sandi who will be gone soon.

Beetz that is why I give all the excuse Weller should not play , now he might drop at home against GC which I think is easier opponent than WB away.

Weller will only gain proper AFL-standard match fitness through...playing AFL games. A bunch of them. We've seen plenty of times that running out WAFL games isn't sufficient preparation for when faced with the huge lift in intensity and physicality. This isn't the end of the season, there's no cumulative fatigue, the best times to give him bulk games is now.
