How has Alex's goal kicking been at training. Has he sorted out his routine/ball drop?

Like that ,there is still some postie like you sympathise Tab, I will choose a.Pearce over Tab for this match because he can swing back as compare to tab, also in recent interview a.peace also don't mind to do a bit ruck for the team if needed.I do sympathise with Tab's predicament but with Alex Pearce having a higher skill base Matt's only course is to continue with his development, which is something I'm sure the club will be giving him every assistance with.
Really? You think every other team are playing 3 tall forwards? I suppose maybe if you are counting guys like Stringer as tall forwards. But if so, then so are we probably if we are playing Pav, A.Pearce/Sandi and Fyfe in the forward line. Regardless I certainly like this week's forward line more than Griffin/Clarke, Pav, Tabs etc. Another issue with Tabs is his forward pressure. Pav isn't exactly a pressure machine so having both of them in our forward line makes the opposition's transition out of defence too easy imo. Not saying A.Pearce is going to be as good as Kennedy, Darling, Gunston, Roughhead etc at pressure either but he is better than Tabs at applying pressure (and obvious upside of being versatile as well).Tabs was #4 for contested marks per game last year for us.
Could have easily brought A Pearce in to replace Griffin and played 3 tall forwards like every other team in the AFL.

Agree but he need to go back to peel and add versatility to his game, suggestions ruck for peel team.Tabs is shaky in the forward 50 but when he's out on the wing/flank he doesn't look as bad. Less fumbles and the kid can run - and pretty quickly too. But unfortunately for him he seems to freeze up whenever there is a potential for a goal.

A Pearce has shown more in the few games he's played forward than Tabs has in all of his. That's not putting Tabs down, that's just the fact of the matter. If we're playing Alex forward, then Tabs being dropped is a no-brainer.
The advantage of a.Pearce is when he swingback ,Johnson can play forwardExcept it really isn't. I don't recall Pearce kicking 3 goals in a game before. He kicked a goal in a couple of games and had a horrendously unconvincing ball drop. I actually can't believe how overrated his stint up forward has become, he was serviceable at best.
He has way more presence. I don't recall Pearce kicking three goals either, if you want to pick a game where Tabs had multiple goals and hold it up as some kind of watershed moment for him, but I do recall him going out of games, getting bugger possessions, not contributing off the ball. I want Tabs to succeed like anyone, but Pearce for me makes us look twice as dangerous up front at the moment. He attacks the footy in a way that Tabs doesn't. He has arrogance in the way that Tabs doesn't. The kind you want to see in a forward and which none of our other forwards in the current best 22 have.Except it really isn't. Just play Dawson forward
There is an awesome old thread on the Hawks board circa 2007 talking about Dawsons future as a forward. He tore it up for Box Hill on more than a few occasions in the forward line

Also seeing so much defense of Zac from supporters other than our own is funny. P3 is when he started getting goals and page 1 is where the Hawks fans are annoyed at all the criticism he was copping from the media

Rumours that he will be delisted in 2017 with croz if both not playing well with peel, or being trade if there is a team that want them.
Yeah it's a mystery why we haven't at least tried Dawson forward given that we have a very capable defender in Silvagni not getting games.
btw since we are talking, I believed we've tried both Silvagni and Johnson forward.
Johnson during Harvey's era. He wasn't that effective and he found his forte when we moved him back to defense. He is effective where he is.
As for Silvagni...
Let's just say if you love Mayne's work as a defensive forward then you will also enjoy the crunching tackles Silvagni do up forward ;-)
Best TV character ever.
No. The reason Silvagni isn't the main defender because when he comes up against players like Kennedy and Hawkins he gets torn to shreds. Yes he had one amazing game against Buddy Franklin when Freo lost by 40+ pts.Yeah it's a mystery why we haven't at least tried Dawson forward given that we have a very capable defender in Silvagni not getting games.
Compared to Taberner, Alex Pearce is a bloody shocking kick for goal
Exactly. And most importantly he is versatile. There is this other guy we have that isn't shabby at contested marking and kicking goals. Can't remember his name... 211 or something. A.Pearce being able to play forward or back gives us more options with Sandi as well. But a far greater contested mark and applies a whole lot more defensive pressure up forward.
Sounds like MayneBut a far greater contested mark and applies a whole lot more defensive pressure up forward.
Mayne is an average markSounds like Mayne![]()
