Re: Changea Rnd 4 v Melbourne (MCG)

Longmuir has to go, and we need to replace him with a tall. The pecking order IMO is
Warnock (can play forward and ruck)
Drum (if he doesn't play now he'll struggle to get a run when we get players back)
Campbell (had a good preseason)
Murphy (needs a month at the bulldogs).

Copping :D

Re: Changea Rnd 4 v Melbourne (MCG)

Everyone so adamant on getting rid of Parker, if he gets ommited now good chance he won't ever play again and get to the 250 milestone.

Re: Changea Rnd 4 v Melbourne (MCG)

I would love to say..Gilmore get out!

But who else is going to support the big fella in the ruck?

He is in the side due to necessity...NOTHING MORE

Parker was much better in the derby than he was in rounds one and two. If his form from those 2 games had continued I would have hoped for him to retire. He has been a great servant but there is no room for sentiment.

Surely that is why Longmuir was selected. Warnie is yet to debut, but I would prefer to see him play in the ruck over Gilmore or Longmuir in his current form.

There are 2 threads on next weeks team if you want to merge them Sabre.

Sad to say I'd rather Warnock who hasn't yet played a game over Gilmore at this stage, and as for Justin, he can be excused.

Agreed, we need Cook in the side, we really miss that hardness when he's out, such a strong tackler.

Walker out? He didn't play bad at all IMO.

Was the 2nd highest disposal getter for Freo with 23.

Parker was crap tonight Dom. He's clearly not up to it anymore.Have a look at his use of the ball, turns it over most times he gets it, his decision making is terrible, he freezes like a rabbit in the spotlight, and twice he tried to centre the ball into the corridor from the back pocket, he got away with it once, just ,after the player he kicked it to was spoiled but Walker got the crumb luckily, and the other time Lynch marked it over the intended target and goaled. The guy has played over 200 games he should know better.
He's been a great servant to the club and should always be remembered in a positive light, but he needs to go before he does too much damage to his reputation.
I believe he is a liability to the backline and the team ATM.

The time has come to stop crapping on about people being a servant of the club or heart of the club. Players that have played a lot of footy and still have crap disposal (by that i mean muffing it or passing to another player under more pressure than they are under) have to go. We have 15 or so players that are great and they are being let down by 7 players who are passed it physically or just because they are not good enough (and never will be). I am sick of seeing macca and walker with large disposals counts. a fair % of their passes or handballs did bugger all or put the team under more pressure because of a quick turnaround.

We will get a lot better when Johnson and Farmer come back into the side from suspension. It would be great to see Thorton and Haddrill back as well

Truth is we do not have great depth!

IMO:

Outs: Parker (poor disposal), Macca (poor disposal), Walker (poor disposal), JLo (passed it pysically), Browne (inj)

Ins: Black, Webster, Duffield, Drum, Murphy

We need to get some games into the young guys to see if they can step up. I'd prefer to have some pain watching some young legs run around than watching the old farts brigade who are not going to get any better!!

Keep the faith!

Says "Mr i listened online and didnt watch the game". Possesions dont mean sh*t in modern footy.

Cook never to return...... pffft please did you watch the game. At least he showed some balls, and never gave up.

Mate don't give me your ****y "pffftt please"

It is my opinion, i am happy to say I am wrong but the reality is football is changing. Hard men like Cook and Solomon have to have the skills and agility to go with it now.

I think he should go due to his poor disposal plus he does not have the confidence when the ball is in his hands to hit a team mate. He doesn't take the first option. Lets play the kids. Dunn can play his role.

I thought Parks was good last night.

I was actually surprised He had it that much but watching I thought Walker was one of our best.

Cookie laid 10 tackles , that is why He is in the team.

Warnock was named in the best for West Perth and has to be better value than Justin (and Happy for that matter) at the moment.

Dunn (2 goals) & Foster were in the sharks best with Ibbo kicking 2 goals as well so He is on the way.

If it were up to me

Ins: Heathblack :thumbsu: Dunn , Collard / Ibbo (for some defensive pace) , Warnock.

Outs: Justin (rest) , Browne (inj) , Des (suspended) ., Happy ,

Webster first emergency (only there because of team balance)
Drummie has not done enough to put his hand up for selection yet.

In:
Dunn - Fit, and showing the best WAFL form of any of our reserves. We all know he was a top 10 pick, but he was regarded as a top 5 pick by some pre-draft. Can play back or midfield.

Drum - Questionable WAFL form, but has never looked out of place at the top level, and can play half forward or half back. Another top class junior.

Black - Goes without saying, we need to set up play from the half back line like we did so well last year, and Blacky can make that happen.

Webster - in for his twin

Out:
Browne injured
JLo - struggling sadly
Parker - looking slow
Des - suspended

Drum to defence instead of Parks
Black to half back, Walker to wing
Gilmore to back up ruck
Dunn to midfield or defence if required
Bell to forward pocket

If we dropped all the players who embarrassed our Club in this week's Derby then we would not have enough replacements.

Therefore hitting the panic button should be left to those amongst us without rational thought.

Brown injured. Black in.

Jlo out . Give Warnock a Run.

Des suspended . Bring in Kiwi.

Ps. Send Des of to anger management . Bring in Kiwi.

I'm with you dugrene. Don't hit the panic button, but use our depth;

JLO out for Warnock. As well as rucking, give him some time up forward. Give JLo time if that is what's needed for his knee, and anyway, he contributed little, which in our current state we cannot afford. If he comes good later in the year then fantastic.

Browne out, Black in. A fairly easy colour change, bad news for Browney.

If Headland suspended I'd bring in either Webster, Dunn or Drum. If Headland is not suspended, then I would consider dropping Gilmore because Warnock would be coming in to do the 2nd ruck. For me, it would probably be Dunn to come in as he seems to be a potential part of our clearances solution, and we need ball winning ability. Webster does not do enough of that, and Drum hasn't really been in form

I also would like to see Collard get a game in the next 3 weeks for his own development, and also because we could easily lose Farmer again given his record and accrued points.

Walker had his best game of the season IMO, yeah he made some mistakes again, but his decision making wasn't all that bad, much better than in the first two rounds anyway. Also his pressure was up a few notches, would be silly to drop him. As many have said, Longmuir is a liability at the moment, Murphy or Campbell seem the likely swaps for him.
Black will be a valuable inclusion, add some run from the backline.
How did Grover pull up after last night's game? I saw him come back on and play, he didn't look all that comfortable.

Showers are forecast for Melbourne on Sunday so this is my team at this stage (it's bound to change again before Sunday ;) )-

B- Parker McPharlin Dodd
HB- Dunn Grover Black
C- McManus Hasleby Crowley
HF- Bell Pavlich Solomon
F- Collard Tarrant Hayden
R- Sandi Carr Carr

Int- Gilmore Mundy Cook Walker

In- Collard, Dunn, Black
Out- Headland, Longmuir, Browne

who's been playing farmers role in the forward line? Can Dunn or Collard play that role?
ive been noticing that no one chases hard like he does except maybe solomon.

I can't see us losing this one against melbourne..... but yeah.. if we do.... isn't this forum going to heat up.
