Absolutely. Fasolo is on thin ice as far as I'm concerned. Unless he starts tackling then I think he'll be in serious danger.
Apparently he got a few in the VFL

Would love to send Maynard to Laird - Maynard needs to find some form, I think a role ala Round 23 last year against Oliver is just the tonic. We need to stop Laird, and I'd back our boy to get right into him and also provide good pressure in the F50. It's a bit left field, otherwise I'd send Varcoe to him.

Hmmm, I...Yes I see your...wait, what are you talking about exactly Dave?

Trying to make a Point on what I think of his Suggestion about Dropping Aish

That would be interesting to see. Defensive role in the 50, why not?

Wills Wells and Moore to return at some stage and Sier and Daicos banging the door down. McLarty and Mihocek doing well too. Mayne and Blair dominating. All looking positive!!
Mayne and Blair dominating?
Someone give them a dodgy kebab, quickly. Never Again!
(and as always, thanks for your service, I'm sure you're ripping blokes)

I reckon Varcs will get Laird but Maynard could pose problems with his bigger body?

just on fox footy , most likely will give Elliot another game or 2 in the reserves, to get his conditioning up. Just for the fact we got essendon after that ,then the tigers 4 days later.
Not keen to play Elliot with such a short break between the bombers and tigers games. Most likely to play against the tigers.
However Degoey and fassolo red hot favourites to come in this week.

I wouldnt play Elliot twice in four games regardless. But that doesnt mean we shouldnt pick him for Adelaide and Essendon and then rest him for Richmond....

Maybe Elliot comes in for Anzac Day and then is rested the week after.

So is it bad news that our players are doing well?

Good depth if nothing else. Mayne especially. Try barracking, you might enjoy it.

I'd sit the resting midfielder on him and take him to the square same as Jones. Make him defend.

I liked the defensive game from Pendles last week. Better tagger than a forward imo. If he has to find a new role as he gets older, running with the oppositions best player is definitely an option.
If it means he’ll produce more sons I’m also supportive of him becoming a full time, stay at home daddy who plays football for us once a week.

Put him out to stud on a three year, no compete, contract.

While we’re at it we should play Blair as much as possible so he has no opportunity to even think about sex.

Buckley’s approach to selection is all starting to make sense now. Long term build, I like it :p

we are ripe for the pickings imho and collingwood could do it. but you will have to kick at least 100 points to win which is very possible since you seem to like to run alot and play fast football from what i can see.

For last year at least and probably the previous 2, our I50 numbers have been at the pointy end it's our DE that has let us down and to be honest from last year to this the DE hasn't improved any - transition into the F50 improved last week but it's questionable given the opposition we had. Given we're thin on KPF's we'll need our mids to rotate forward and hit the scoreboard if we're to have any chance. When you play half a game on interstate deck and still win by 8 goals well that's winning ugly - we play ugly most of the time and usually lose. We'll need to play 4 quarters of good transition and conversion footy to hold any hope.

Some good ideas thrown up by some people i this thread.

First thought is that I’d rather Varcs focus on crumbing off Reid/Cox/Elliott, unless a forced change to sit in Betts.
Maynard could work on Laird. Might even be able to hit the scoreboard.
I also like the idea of having one of our resting mids take Laird to thengial square to make him defend, but feel that it can be exploited.

And Phillips, while not kicking particularly well this week gets a lot of the ball. Would need to have another down game to be dropped I think. Varcoe would be close to getting a rest, but his pace is important.
No point getting the ball if you can't use it. I would rather degoey get the ball instead

One out of left field to think about for Laird is Adams. He hasn't been at his best so far this year in the middle and with Adelaide having Crouch x2 out, we may already have the necessary cattle to cover them in the middle of the ground. I think Adams could be one who could really go to Laird and hassle him and hold him accountable. Using Pendles' selfless game against Cripps as an example, we shouldn't be afraid to use our guns in roles like this to benefit the side.

To do so we may want to bulk up our inside mid stocks so that means Sier or Wills could be considered.

We stand little chance against Adelaide unless we are quite bold & attacking and I think taking Cox into this game could be a mistake. Reading that there may be rain might be a big influencer of my thinking here but I think we need to go in with an even quicker, more attacking side as this is where Adelaide can be opened up at times I think. In the draw vs them last year we used Grundy on his own with Moore as backup.

Another thing that we have been doing well over the last couple of weeks is isolating guys like Sidey and Treloar up forward and this will be more difficult against Adelaide due to the quality of their medium/small defenders. Kelly and Brown are both guns and Doedee looks very promising. I think playing Fas instead of Crocker could benefit us here, as a player with his attacking quality (at best) will force the small/mid guys to be more accountable, and hopefully open it up a bit for others.

If Fas really struggles he could be replaced by Elliott, who I wouldn't bring in this week for an interstate trip off a 6 day break after only playing 3 quarters of footy. ANZAC Day for Billy.

Another game for Stephenson, will gain huge experience from playing in front of a big AO crowd & also benefit from travelling interstate with the squad. Plus, he's playing fairly well, running games out & making good decisions by foot.

Changes for me would be:

In: De Goey, Fasolo
Out: Cox, Crocker

B: Crisp Dunn Scharenberg
HB: Murray Howe Langdon
C: Aish Treloar Phillips
HF: De Goey Reid Adams
F: Varcoe Fasolo WHE
R: Grundy Pendles Sidebottom
I: Maynard Brown Thomas Stephenson

E: Wills, Crocker, Cox, Daicos

Crisp to Betts, Dunn to Walker, Shaz to Jenkins, Langdon to Lynch, Howe to McGovern.
