At the moment I tend to think the minimal changes policy is a good one.

In: JDG
Out: Adams

Possibility?
Stephenson couldn't get into the rhythm of the game to save himself last week, seemed a step behind the contest. I watched the VFL replay, and Daicos was sensational: he was clean, smart, attacking, and played strongly over four quarters. He was BOG or close to it, and the possessions of Mayne and Blair were negligible in comparison.

so in an interview last week Rory Laird stated a few of the boys have pulled up quite sore after having 2 etihad games in 3 weeks, given its supposed to rain friday night it could turn into a real physical contest, we are actually a good contested ball side so that could be an advantage i guess.

How much will it rain?

It really is a double edged sword. We as supporters have to understand he isnt going to play well week in week out and he should spend some time in the 2's based on that form but at the end of the day it is counter productive. The VFL competition isnt what it used to be in terms of quality teams from week to week. What Stephenson really needs for his development is continuity and he wont get that jumping between the AFL and VFL teams.

I disagree. Consistency yes, but he should get that at either level given we aim for the same gameplan at both. Occasional games at VFL level where he can rack up possessions will be better for him longer term than continually struggling for touch in the seniors. If he manages 10 senior games this year he'll have exceeded my expectations given his physical development.

You don't think Stephenson has hit the wall Sco?

Offensively yes, but defensively we aren’t yet carrying him. He recorded the 4th most pressure acts for Collingwood last week and his heat map suggested he covered the ground well. When you compare that to Crocker who is marginally ahead offensively, well behind defensively and won the ball in two spots on the ground it makes for a compelling case, IMO.

I also think they’re both 2-3/10 players currently. One has the capacity to reach a 8-9/10 level and the other does not, IMO, and I would rather invest game time into the more likely long term prospect. If Crocker were a Blair level hard worker I’d consider that from a different perspective, but he is not. At this time he relies purely on talent and he’s not quite talented enough to do that.

There’s also the Fasolo factor. In an ideal world because of what we know Fasolo offers offensively I’d go with him ahead of both. The problem is you’ll never know what you’ll get defensively from Fasolo. That might change when Moore returns. I have a lot running through my head to justify it and I don’t think I’ve communicated this all that well.

Wow he has played 2 games of AFL, standards are to high for the kid. Lets be honest we arent winning any premierships this year and possibly over the next couple of years. We should be attempting to play this kid in 22 games this year and the same with Maynard, Murray, C. Brown and rotating games through Daicos/Kirby. We need to find out now whether they are good and durable enough at this level, not in 2-3 years when we really should be contending.

People talk about getting games into kids and the magical 50 game mark but more often than not that's more to do with the 2-3 or more preseasons they get under their belts and improved physicality than some magical change in ability at the milestone. This kid has shown enough already to suggest he can play, it'll be the increased weight and muscle that allows him to deliver consistently at an expected higher level.

Agree. Looked good with the Times he been there this Season.

Aish Best Postion I think

We've got lots of options, just that not too many offer Adam's 2 way running and work rate. Might be an opportunity for Aish to step up in front of a home crowd on an oval you'd assume he's familiar with. Did the SANFL use it prior to the Crows and Port moving there?

Is it a good time to do it in the wet though?

Will be a big test for Murray on Betts

Would Murray get Betts? I'd have thought Crisp or Maynard.

Where did you get the heat map data from Sco?
