You can't just play a player because he is a kid and needs games.

The most important part of developing a young player IMO is VFL and work their way up. You don't want complacency or you end up like Melbourne. Crap.

They don't have the culture to be successful because of that.

I agree to an extent.

But it is far more harmful to play an experienced player because he is the incumbent, when all that player ever does is fail to meet required levels.

Not only do the young players not get the opportunity to improve or to prove themselves, but they become disillusioned and the impression that there is no pathway for them. Motivation drops, teams stagnate, then regress.

It's hard to balance and the answer isn't always easy to find. But I do know that Blair is never the answer. He hasn't been for several years.

I got the team selection alert the second after I posted that haha. I still reckon Fasolo is a chance. He's an emergency and I wouldn't be surprised to see a late omission.

Greenwood? Surely he needs a VFL game?

Interesting sending all three senior bodies to Adelaide.

I'd be expecting Mayne to be a late in, Blair the "in case of emergency" emergency, and Greenwood to cut the oranges and be on a plane back to Melbourne as soon as the game starts.
