It’s a yes from me and also De Goey.

You might enjoy your trip to Adelaide this week Maggie5 it really didn’t look like it after round 1
Long week-end for me as there is always the wineries.:D

Brown keeps his spot. How could you drop him after he just played his best game?
Crocker? He's safe as well.
Varcoe plays a role as a pressure forward. He ain't being dropped.
Phillips offers all day running and ball winning abilities. Won't be dropped.
Need an intercept marker against the taller Crows forward line, so Langdon stays put.

Personally I'd drop Cox because he just can't be trusted to perform week in week out. Sure he came good in the second half, but his first half was woeful. The future lies elsewhere (McLarty).

One change.
IN: DeGoey
OUT: Stephenson (looked knackered on Friday).

Throwing McLarty to the elite defence of the Crows would be terrible, he isn't ready yet and has got a bit to go. Coxs first half wasn't woeful at all, he plaed an important role.

If we bring Fasolo in are we going to be too immobile up forward with Reid and Cox? Reid may need to go back for match ups anyway to play on Jenkins, Howe to Lynch and Dunn to Tex.

All of JDG, Fas and Elliott should come in. Need a range of options up forward in case Cox, Reid not working on the night. Also, been loving Treloar, Sidey and WHE spending time forward.

Go Pies!!!

Shaz ran ov

shaz ran over the ball, couldn't pick it up. Then kicked to 1 metre in from of a players laces from 15m, no pressure. People need to realise his kicking is not elite. Barely even average these days.
Stepho out for single digit possessions and not influencing the game. Young, and needs time in the twos. Would've thought it was obvious I wasn't referring to him as slow.
Varcoe also to be replaced when wells is fit.

If you accept mediocrity, we will stay mediocre.

That skill level would've seen us thumped by Adelaide.

Well guess we might as well Drop Shaz and Leave him in the VFL Then as not up to AFL Standerds then

Well you said Drop all the Slow,Fumbly and Bad Ball Users then you have him in thew outs.

Problem is outside of Steele and Grundy we have no Real True A-Graders

His ability to tackle, get the first handball out to runners and strength in the contest is great. He has shown he can play at AFL level.
He also doesn't get allot of the ball and isn't a good kick and is plodder. His ability to get the handpass out is great but Pendles, Sidebottom, Adams and De Goey can all do that and more.

He's someone who can play role but he's not someone who should go into the side ahead of De Goey, Fasolo or Elliott.

I think the general consensus here is Elliott and JDG for Stephenson and Crocker. Suits team balance and is essentially a huge upgrade to our side.

I think Wills, even if putting up dominant performances, needs 4-5 VFL games in a row to really get his body right. Seems to miss chunks of preseasons, etc. so I'd want to see him ready to stay in when he comes in.

Still really want Sier to play but still can't see who he comes in for unless Brown puts in a stinker this week.

In. De Goey
Out. Stephenson

Agree with the sentiments above re: Brown. Crocker gets another crack and I think Cox should too

Billy another blowout in VFL to prime him for Anzac Day

Despite only playing six games at afl level is averaging 17 touches and 8 tackles a game.

I liked the look of him late 2016 and he dominated yesterday. Why not have another look at him at afl level?

With regard to Elliott's fitness, I stood next to Collingwood interchange bench and although it is hard to read his emotions, didn't really see him blowing hard and played most of the game with usual (no extended sit outs) interchange times.

I really believe if he comes up okay training this week, should be a definite in.

What do you think CFC2010, mattys123 and TradeDraft ?

Just on Elliott again, people in their recliners ;) would not have seen how hard he leads and more importantly to right spots forcing players to honour his lead.

Without a doubt our best leading forward...if he pulled up ok he has to be a certainty along with De Goey. Being a laborer has worked wonders

I've been horrible at predicting team changes lately, starting to think the powers-that-be aren't listening to me at all.

It's great that Sier and Wills are both putting their hand up at VFL, but I wonder whether those bigger bodies are needed against the Crouch-less Adelaide midfield, given that we'll likely have JDG back in and JT rotating through the middle. Given that the Crows only had a couple more clearances against the Saints, it's the damage they can cause on the outside which concerns me.

I don't want to change our defence at all: it isn't perfect, but it's harmonising.

The forward line is our conundrum, but at least the conundrum this week is about options rather than the lack of them. I've liked Crocker's work, but at this point his output still puts him behind either of Fasolo or Elliott. I didn't see the VFL yesterday, but I think that Elliott will come into the side if his fitness is OK.

Out: Stephenson.
In: Good De Goey.

Out: Crocker.
In: Elliott/Alexander Fasolo.

I don't mind him getting an opportunity, nows just not the time.

No, being a labourer caused his hamstring injury...remember? :D

IN: De Goey, Fasolo & Elliott

OUT: Crocker, Stephensen & Brown

Adelaide averaging over 100 points a game, we need to score and score heavily. Billy and Fas have been our most dangerous forwards for the last coupole of years so they need to come in after a strong performance in the VFL. De Goey is a no brainer kids all class.

Surprised people are calling for Cox’s head, sure the guy isn’t the best player but he competes in the air and rarely loses a marking contest. At the absolute worst he brings the ball to ground and with the likes of Fasolo, Elliott, Varcoe, WHE & eve Thomas buzzing around his feet he could be a real threat to Adelaide.

I’d like us to persist with Phillips, Aish and Sharenberg for a while. I know Phillips and Aish are frustrating but they’re starting to contribute more so I think we need to give them a real crack to show us what they’re made of. I’ve really liked Shaz so far this season and I feel like he’s going to make a spot in our backline his own soon, kids going to be good.

I’ve got a good feeling about this game and I’m not sure why I think we’ll trouble the crows for sure.

I liked Cox but honestly unless he is kicking 2/3 goals a game i think he is going to struggle to hold a spot. Taking 2/3 contested marks and contributing little else isn't going to do much for the side.

1 tackle but he did have 3 assists.

I just think Fasolo will give us more scoring options

These two are like polar opposites:

Fasolo: A genuine threat on goal / loves a goal himself. Very good overhead, times his leads very well, smart and sharp with ball in hand, slow over the ground and almost zero defensive pressure.

versus

Varcoe: genuine pace, run and carry, good by foot, good defensive pressure, will chase and harass and covers a lot of ground, doesn't rack up a lot of possessions but the one's he gets tend to be damaging, doesn't kick many himself but does create.

At the moment Varcoe to me is still a bit of an experiment up forward and its obviously his defensive pressure we are looking for as well as his pace. He had a hand in several crucial goals on Friday night and is worth persisting with for now. Not sure I can see him and Wells in the same team though when both are fit.

Fas will be stiff this week for mine, had a very good game when everyone else did, (31 goals) but was shaded by Elliot and JDG for a forward slot. Josh Thomas kicking 5 probably keeps him out this week for mine.

I think the most important matchup for me is whoever plays on Betts. He obviously didn’t play last time & likely could have been the difference. Do we have a small shutdown defender!? It looks like this week the forward line has some good options & the midfield has proven it can at least match Adelaide’s, given the result last time.

But I sort of suspect that teams with elite small forwards will go to town on us this year. Cyril really showed this that a forward with agility is going to hurt us.

It would be good if one of the really optimistic posters could keep my mind at ease on this and... hell even come up with something outlandish to stop him. Anyone else miss Marley Williams or is it just me.

Elliott is so far our best leading forward that nobody is on the same page.
Fasolo as an example is a poor mans Elliott.
Crocker a poor mans Fasolo, but with that attitude.

Elliott is one of very few players we have that is in the bounds of elite category level if fully up and about.
