Grug_ would like to congratulate Collingwood on beating Carlton last week and wish my Magpie brothers all the very best against the scum this week.

Safe travels to anyone going to the game and I hope the local ferals aren't too abusive as they're prone to be

Thank you Grug_. Tarkyn_24 always enjoys the perspective of highly knowledgeable Port Adelaide supporters. Tarkyn_24 would like to wish Grug_ and his next team of choice all the best in the finals when Port miss out.

Grug_ thanks Tarkyn_24 for his reply, despite the thinly veiled hostility and ill wishes.

Grug_ would like Tarkyn_24 to know that he has always had a soft spot for Collingwood and wishes you the best in whichever team you choose to follow in future

Serious question, why aren’t we playing on Thursday 19th April, and Essendon plays on Friday 20th April or vice versa?
We then get a 5 day break, and the bombers get a 4 day break?

Then the teams have 9 days before the next set of matches.

Don’t see the whole point of playing 3 days after one of the biggest games of the year. The Richmond game could get quite messy.

I’m not entirely sure the AFL are flexible enough to schedule teams to play two matches in the one round and Richmond play ANZAC eve so I don’t see why it would could get “messy” based on breaks?

Edit: it’s the weekend after v Brisbane that concerns me. Most clubs will get through 2 matches in 4-5 days because it’s not that different to normal, but the cumulative attrition of 3 in 11 days is troublesome.

ANZAC Day is on the Wednesday

Collingwood and Essendon get a four day break after that to the Sunday.

The AFL has done their best by scheuling us to play against Richmond and Melbourne on that Sunday. These teams play ANZAC Eve so themselves have only five day breaks.

So at least our opponent also has a short break.

COlingwood and Essendon lready get massive benefit from ANZAC Day and dont really have rights to ask for any further special consideration.

I should’ve explained myself better.

EXAMPLE.

Collingwood vs Sydney( in Sydney) Round 5 curtain raiser on Thursday 19th April.
Essendon vs Gold Coast ( ES) Round 5 Friday night on Friday 20th April.

Collingwood vs Essendon (Anzac Day) Round 6 curtain raiser on Wednesday 25th April.

Round 7(4th may to 6th May) Richmond v Collingwood & Melbourne v Essendon.

Just an example off the top of my head.

So is it bad news that our players are doing well?

Good depth if nothing else. Mayne especially. Try barracking, you might enjoy it.
Oi!
I'm no naysayer.
Just hoping our young players step up and make those 2 irrelevant.
I reckon Blair has had a terrific career and wish him no ill will. Same Maybe...though maybe not for us.

We have a few either 1 ) not quite up to it or 2 ) lack confidence and are down on form.

Langdon & Aish - just average players but they plug holes at the moment as we have no defenders in the VFL putting their hands up
Maynard - down on form. If he has a tank and wants to play midfield, maybe turn him into a tagger
Brown & Stephenson - just need more experience but like what I see

I think Elliot will be the only change this week, in for Stephenson

Just an example off the top of my head.

With the ANZAC eve fixture it’s not possible if they want the 4 ANZAC teams not disadvantaged. Who do Richmond and Melbourne play in round 5? Are they having 3 day breaks? Double headers on both Thursday and Friday? Why on earth would you start a round on a Tuesday? What you’ve suggested doesn’t work for all clubs just Collingwood and Essendon.

Spot on - something akin to this should've been fixtured.

Collingwood and Essendon can hardly cry foul about the draw when they get so much benefit from this game. Despite the four day break we are playing teams with a five day break so its as fair as it can be in the circumstances.

Don't need Cox this week, let's make Talia, Hatrtigan and Kelly look for matchups-

Out: Cox, Crocker and Stephenson
In: Fasolo, Elliot and DeGoey.

Nice and easy. And please, please realise when you have no key position players you need to bring the ball in low or to space, not a long bomb to the top of the square.
Why get rid it eh KPP? Then you can do both. Cox brought a lot of players into the game last week in first half, and did his job well on second half. Need to be persisted with

I think the whole playing Richmond or Melbourne is stupid or unnecessary. No one really cares about an “Anzac Day Eve” match.

I agree we shouldn’t have a game on Tuesday. Just think there was other ways around it. 3 day breaks for an AFL match is wrong.

Don't know how you can call for Langdon' dropping. Had a very good pre season and has beenvery good in the 3 games this year. Don't understand the Langdon hate apart from his hairstyle

Would not want to drop the Brisbane game

The ANZAC eve match drew 2k less than ours last year and will most likely outdraw it this year. The only proper solution if it’s an issue, which it isn’t, is to stagger the bye when it falls mid week. Have Port v GC in the same round and then have all 6 teams with the bye the following round. Talk about first world football problems...

Wheres the 3 day break?

This match is neccessary so Collingwood and Essendon have somebody to play the week later with a similar short break.

Still think it’s unnecessary. It’s hard enough trying to do the fixture when 2 teams have to play on a Wednesday, then arranging teams to playing on a Tuesday. That’s too much, and unnecessary, Imo.

Playing an ANZAC Eve game benefits Collingwood and Essendon because we the next week we get to play somebody with a similar short break.

You say its unneccessary but 1. it pulls a crowd, 2. It lets some other clubs share in this thing that Coll and Ess have monopolised, 3. it suits our draw and makes it easier not harder for the AFL to schedule matches.

With fas, Elliot and Degoey all coming back in in the not so distant future do u think that takes away from WHE and pushes him into more mid or wing time?

Hoping he stays foward cause he’s looking very dangerous

Also do you think bucks after seeing Steele kick 3 last week will try Steele more foward now or once those 3 guns come back in will keep him away from the goals

In. De Goey
Out. Stephenson

Agree with the sentiments above re: Brown. Crocker gets another crack and I think Cox should too

Billy another blowout in VFL to prime him for Anzac Day

This is how I would go.

Don't think Crocker deserves to be dropped on last weeks effort and Rowdy's boy certainly should be rewarded for his effort.

Give Billy and Faz another run in the twos. Avoids away trip and gets them ready for ANZAC day.
