Don't know how you can call for Langdon' dropping. Had a very good pre season and has beenvery good in the 3 games this year. Don't understand the Langdon hate apart from his hairstyle

he is sloppy at best. Make too many fundamental errors and turns the ball over. Buckley's love child so he is safe for now and we have no other option other than play him with our limited resources. I would be amazed if he was in our best 22 with a 100% healthy list

I feel that we have to bring in Elliot and JDG this week. They are both such important players to us and given the importance of this game and also the extended break to ANZAC Day, it has to be a no brainer. I think one VFL game is enough as we can't afford to let these guys sit in the VFL for a couple of weeks whilst our season essentially ends if we lose to Adelaide and Essendon with Richmond the following week. Must win two of our next 3 and be at 3-3 heading into the Brisbane game.

Well he is with 200% healthy list so suck it up.

Spot on David king again. Basically saying Elliot and Fasolo need to buy in to the high pressure forward structure.

..................or they could just kick goals?

I'm kinda torn on this issue if I'm being honest.

If your delivery inside 50 is good and your small forwards know how to crumb, then theoretically "forward pressure" is something you shouldn't have to worry about often?

I personally would prefer Nathan organises his forward structure in such a way that maximises forward 50 entries so that we dont' have to rely on forward pressure.

It would concern me greatly if a forward line of Cox, Reid/Moore, Elliott, Fasolo, De Goey/Hoskin-Elliot, Daicos/Kirby can't be dangerous enough to maximise forward 50 entries then there's something wrong with our forward structure or delivery inside 50.

Grug_ thanks Tarkyn_24 for his reply, despite the thinly veiled hostility and ill wishes.

Grug_ would like Tarkyn_24 to know that he has always had a soft spot for Collingwood and wishes you the best in whichever team you choose to follow in future
Come across any time Grug_, Your polite and your posts always make me smile. Keep up the good work fella.:thumbsu:

Or the midfielders could pass it accurately so they can just kick goals?
Oh, if only Richmond and Bulldogs could have kicked it accurately in their premiership years then you wouldn't require forwards who put on pressure either.

It's the modern game. Same way we won 2010 really.

With fas, Elliot and Degoey all coming back in in the not so distant future do u think that takes away from WHE and pushes him into more mid or wing time?

Hoping he stays foward cause he’s looking very dangerous

Also do you think bucks after seeing Steele kick 3 last week will try Steele more foward now or once those 3 guns come back in will keep him away from the goals

I like WHE better as winger as he can push back and take an intercept mark and also push forward and kick a goal, it's also a role that allows him to use his speed the most. He'll always rest down forward but I like him better as a winger.

Elliot is capable defensively. He chases down his opponent when he needs, he can lay a tackle as good as any forward at Collingwood. I don't mind what he brings defensively, but as everyone knows he brings with him potent goal scoring which makes him invaluable to the side.

I think you a being a bit pretentious to quote David King in your post, the man who reckons we are further away to a premiership than Carlton. He will always have his two cents worth about Collingwood, most of the time he's wrong so it doesn't bother me slightly what he has to say.

I rate his opinion is all.

You can agree or disagree about how far us and Carlton are from a flag but I believe he makes a good point about Fasolo and Elliot.

TBH personally I prefer Hoss on a wing. Gets him more involved and he can use his run and carry as he’s a pretty good “metres gained” player. I feel he goes missing a bit when played too deep forward which is understandable.

Think Bucks will now rotate 2/3 of our quality mids through the forward line to create unpredictability rather than just Steele getting a run. Most likely candidates are Steele, Wells and JDG I would imagine.

Wet weather still forecast for Adelaide Friday? Surely Cox straight out if so. Might be Blair that comes in in that case though...?!

They have more chance of kicking goals, and others, when the forward pressure keeps the ball in our attacking end of the ground.

I get that Spicey.......but I would prefer to see us get more goals from marks in the forward 50 rather than pressure acts.

What Kingy needs to realise is that we are not Richmond and we don't want to replicate our game on their forward pressure.

We have three very good forward options in Elliott, Fasolo and De Goey.
How good was it watching our forwards getting goals from good leads and good passes?

JDG will have his fair share of forward time still. The way Treloar worked out down there was very positive.

If the talk about the supposed lack of forward half pressure is what is keeping Fasolo and Elliott from getting rushed back, are we going to get to the point where they both won't appear in the same side again?

Yep the best forward pressure is kicking goals. Kick straight like we did against that blues mob, more pressure on the opposition then, then more turn overs

A 30% contested mark rate is considered good, which means that in the 2/3 contests Elliot and Fas don't win, we need them to apply pressure at ground level. Yes, go for your marks first, but you need to bring the heat at ground level in the (likely) event you don't clunk a mark.
